(From June, 2023)If it were based on location only, this park would be considered a 5-star gem being in the heart of the uptown Charlotte area with it's view of the city skyline. Plus with the trees, large field, water sprouts, planted flowers, and the fountain in the small pond, you'd think there's no better place to be to stroll and prance through. Unfortunately, there were things I encountered that left me shaking my head. Things such as trash lying around and homeless people urinating in the trees (despite public restrooms being available). Kind of gross if you ask me. Aside from those disgusting things, this park can be a beautiful specimen.

I like this park it's nice but I will say there are some homeless people around but generally not an unsafe environment

This park is located downtown and very close to the Spectrum Center. Many photos of this park online show giant white rabbits. Sadly, that was a temporary art exhibit where this park was filled with giant inflatable rabbits. There are none now, so this park is basically a wide, open empty space. It's just a place to sit around with no activities to do.

Such a fun park located uptown! Prepare to pay for parking. There is so much to do here for the entire family. They have a climbing structure, water fountain, a stage, out door workout equipment and more!

I spent a lovely afternoon at First Ward Park for Jazz Festival and had a blast! It's a really chill spot with lots of trees and green space. The music was great, and there were some cool food trucks. I'd definitely come back here again for another event as it is a wonderful place to just relax and enjoy nature. I hope to see more activities hosted here in the future.

Perhaps the most substantial park of Charlotte's downtown, this one offered a substantial and well-attended set of fountains. Some port-a-potties were set up around the edge of the park. There was a reasonable amount of street parking nearby. The center of the space was open, while shaded seating was around the periphery, including some fancy stone benches with animals carved in them. A light rail stop was also nearby.

What a gem of a park, located right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte across from the 7th St. Market. Friends and I were in the area for brunch and decided to walk off a few calories before we headed out. We stumbled upon this park and figured it was a sign. Time to explore! The first thing I noticed was how clean the park was. I didn't see a single piece of trash while I was walking around. Next, it was pretty cool to see gym equipment on turf located along the side of the park. I've only seen this in towns along the coast. Very cool! I also enjoyed the fountain and my friends and I used it as a fun photo op. If your back is facing the fountain you can get a really good view of the city. Lastly, the place was landscaped really well and had tons of beautiful flowers. If you have time to talk a stroll and you're nearby, give it a gander.

I've walked past this park before, but just spent some time here for the first time during Charlotte Shout. The location is very conveniently located right by 7th Street Public Market across the street. The festivities here during Charlotte Shout were awesome. I hope they do more events like that here in the future. The park is small, but nice. There's a splash pad which the kids love. There's bathrooms as well. Google Fiber is right next to the park. Overall, it's a nice place to hang out for a bit.

First Ward Park is a fairly new 4-acre park located between East 7th, 9th and Brevard Streets, just east of the light rail tracks in First Ward District of Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte City officials have opted to call their Downtown area as Uptown because Up has a more positive connotation than Down. The four-acre park, which opened in December 2015, used to be nine blocks of parking lots so this park is a huge improvement! Now the First Ward Park is intended to be the centerpiece of a new urban village, surrounded by offices, shops, residences and hotels.First ward park has a large lawn, an interactive fountain, a kids jungle gym contraption, a kids splash pad area, animal sculptures you can sit on, and 5 exercise machines, all with the backdrop of the city's skyline. At this park, you will typically find a mix of professionals, UNC Charlotte students who study at the university's adjacent Center City campus, and kids playing after a trip to nearby ImaginOn.Kids can suit up for fun in the fountains that shoot up from the splash pad, and parents can enjoy the action sunning on a blanket while taking in the uptown skyline. A Sounds of Summer concert series features free live music, food trucks and craft beer on select Fridays May through August. Roots rock, Americana and bluegrass take center stage at this unique concert series. Sadly, no new events have been announced for the fall and winter months so the park currently as lively as it typically is on weekends. When food trucks are not here for select weekend events, visitors can grab lunch across the street at the Seventh Street Public Market, which is full of local small businesses selling everything from coffee to sushi, pizza to cupcakes.First ward park is missing a dog run area, tennis courts, basketball courts, ping pong tables, chess tables, food vendors, a stage, and a view of any body of water as typical parks usually have in Florida but this park does offer a nice view of the Charlotte Uptown Skyline and is a big improvement upon a parking lot. The large lawn is ideal for concerts or events but when there aren't any, there is not a whole lot to do at this park except for using the exercise equipment. Hopefully concerts and food vendors will return soon to bring more life back to this park.

I got here just as some sort of cancer fundraising event was ending with lots of tents set up, a loud man with a microphone and bunches of people in purple tshirts. No idea what that was all about. The big grassy space is not far from Uptown and the 7th street public market. Bring your lunch here if you're so inclined. There's a great view of the skyline! A lovely fountain, a pavilion, public restrooms
