El Texano Mexican Cuisine

The Five Points intersection has a new resident in the old Gulf service station. El Texano is a family-owned Mexican restaurant with all the charm, service, and great food one hopes to find.Lori and I visited for lunch during their first week of opening. Her taco salad with pulled chicken and my Carnitas lunch special were expertly prepared, delivered quickly with a smile, and tasted wonderful. The carnitas were tender and beefy, with hints of crispiness seared on a few of the chunks. Loved it!There was a good mix of Latino and local clientele which suggests this place is well received by those knowledgeable. It was nice to have Maria, the owner, introduce herself to us, too. While parking is minimal out front, no worries. Across the street is another lot for overflow.Looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, friendly people who know how to cook, and food priced reasonably? D E L I C I O U S carne asada, green enchiladas & beef burritos. Meals came with Tex Mex runny refrieds with cojita crumbles & rice (nice tomato color). Coke soft drinks & agua frescas (jamaica for me!). There are 5 booths, a table for 6 & a two-seater. Their TV plays contemporary Mexican music (and shows artists' names). M A R I A working triple-duty, super attentive, and said, Come Back! I'm here everyday!! Some of us had leftovers and threw-in the table chips & fresh salsa we didn't finish :) 704 218 2769 take-outs too! Def will return to try other items.

WOW! Their Burrito Tex-Mex with Mexican Sausage (Chorizo) was PHENOMENAL; to say the least. I can't wait to return, and try another item.Their service and atmosphere is indicative of their proud culture.The restaurant is extremely clean, throughout, which expresses their pride.Good luck and God Bless, El Texano.

We came early evening on a Saturday, the first week they opened. We chose to sit outside as the weather was nice and the tables were in the shade.Service was amazing and truly thoughtful as our server was very attentive. The owner, Maria, even came to say hello! The pineapple cucumber drink was amazing and I've never had it offered anywhere else! Chips + salsa and the extra guacamole we ordered, were very fresh and delicious. Huge fan of the salsa verde as it had the perfect amount of heat. We ordered chicken enchiladas and the burrito Tex-Mex which were both delicious! Can't forget about the homemade flan that was so yummy!

All four of our meals were SO VERY GOOD! We had the barbacoa tacos, steak tacos, fajita quesadilla and Tex Amex burrito. All were beautifully presented and scrumptious. Maria, our server, was warm and welcoming. This location is a little hard to get in and out of, but don't let this deter you. The food and service is well worth it!

Food and service were excellent!! Verde enchiladas were my favorite! Salsa, chorizo dip, and guacamole were very good as well! The flan was the best I have had!
