This place is a hidden gem and I will recommend it always. This place is located next to a Mexican store. You order at the cash register and then wait around for it inside the food store. You can eat there if you'd like but seating is very limited since the food area is also small. They have authentic Mexican dishes such a huitlacoche, or corn smut. Flor de calabaza, or pumpkin flower. They also have the blue corn tortillas. They sell everything from tacos, to quesadillas, tortas, etc. Meat portions are very generous and the quesadillas and tortas are big. My order was fast, hot and fresh. They include a sauteed jalapeño, grilled onions and two packages of salsa, with limes, onions and cilantro. TIP: Menudo is available on the weekends. Blue corn tortillas are the first thing they run out of.

Authentic food, good prices. My favorite thing has been the asada quesadilla. The tortilla is freshly made unlike the tacos here. The tortillas for the tacos are not fresh, they are like prepackaged and not good quality. But you can't go wrong with the quesadillas.

GEM!!!!!! Finally, I decided to try this place put after my sister kept raving about it. Went on a Wednesday during lunch hours. It was fairly empty when I arrived, BUT as soon as I placed my order, though, everyone started arriving. You enter through the supermarket portion, and you actually order at the cashier in the store portion instead of the actual taqueria. Now I will say, this is a little pricey, but honestly, what isn't expensive at this point. I ordered a Carne Asada quesadilla ($8), 2 Cecina tacos ($3 each), and then a pineapple agua Fresca (8). If you order specialty tacos (Celina, tripa, etc), you HAVE to order 2 tacos. Not just one, which I thought was weird and hated it, but oh well. I will say, though, the food makes up for the price and any kinks this place may have! It was all so delicious!!!!! Omg it def hit my craving. It was all very well marinated, and the quesadilla was huge! Definitely great portions, and they don't skimp you on meat at all. This is definitely a hole in the wall place, but I definitely recommend it. Located off East Blvd and plenty of parking out front.

Today, I ventured into another hidden gem in Charlotte: Rinconcito Chilango Taqueria, tucked inside the Rodriguez Super Market off Eastway Drive. Make sure you enter through the supermarket entrance to get to the taqueria--this isn't one of those fancy places with its own entrance. And be prepared to order in Spanglish. If you can speak Spanish, you're in a good boat! Parking is simple, and they boast a commendable sanitation rating of 98.5!As you enter through the market, you'll find a cashier to the left for placing your takeout or dine-in order. There's limited counter seating, so be ready to enjoy your meal in the car or rush home to devour it. Mexican music sets the ambiance as you browse the supermarket aisles or dine in.The menu features tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and other Mexican favorites, all made to order. Although the red and green salsas come in large plastic packets, rest assured they're house-made and sealed for easy, no-mess transportation. Along with the house-made sauces, the corn tortillas are made fresh daily. The supermarket's baked items, like flan and tres leches, are also made in-house.The very nice young gentlemen, Alex and Marco, who prepared my order, checked in on me throughout my dine-in experience. They mentioned their favorite meat is the house-made cecina, a sun-dried salted and dried beef highly regarded in Mexico's capital. Here, it's very affordable--I'll probably order it next time.I ordered four tacos: two chicken (because you can't just order one), barbacoa, and one carne asada. Each taco was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I prefer to leave off the cilantro and onions, keeping it authentic with no cheese. The order comes with mini onions and half a lemon. One of the best things about Rinconcito Chilango Taqueria is that it's a locally owned business, adding to the charm and authenticity of the experience. If you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos where all the ingredients are fresh, made in-house, and meats prepared to order, make a stop at Rinconcito Chilango Taqueria. Get your fix and be blown away by the authentic flavors. This taqueria is now at the top of my list for preferred tacos in Charlotte.

Really good tacos. Very authentic spot. Small place with only about 6 stools. It is connected to a Latin grocery store, where I paid. The staff is nice. They take credit card. The tacos are delicious. I ordered three tacos. One pollo, one barbocoa, and one al pastor. I asked for all the fixings. The tacos came with a side of a vegetable and long hot. Those were incredibly tacos. The tacos were extremely flavorful. The meat was tender and tasted fresh. The flavors were awesome. This place is a hidden gem. I highly recommend it for lunch or takeout. The service is fast.

The worst Mexican I've ever had in my life. The beef was extremely fatty. The chicken was not tender. The ambiance was terrible. I'll never go back.

This business is listed on DoorDash and Google as Rodrigues Supermarket, so I left the identical review there as well. This place has the best tacos I have ever had in Charlotte, period.I grew up in Texas, near the border and have eaten Mexican and Tex-Mex food as far back as I can remember, so I'm always looking for Mexican food that is "just right" - this place is it. I've had most every kind of taco made here over the years, looking for the best, and I'm happy to say these are, in my opinion, the ones.If you haven't tried their tacos, please do and see how they compare to your favorites. For me, the right sauces, the right seasonings, the right ratio of ingredients, and the right roasted veggies thrown in all make this a perfect taco meal.
