Black Friday and an opportunity to see Edwin McCain for the second time. This go round with K in Shelby at this fine theater for the first time. The sight lines are excellent, the acoustics are great and the feel of the theater has a nice vibe. Clearly, a lot of history here and they have done a great job in the restoration and the accommodation for artists and guests. We didn't participate but Edwin and Band had a meet and greet afterwards.

Wonderful old movie theatre converted into a small intimate entertainment venue. We saw Country music entertainer Billy Dean there. All seats are great seats as the theatre only holds 400 people. It's like being entertained in your living room. Prior to the show there was an area off the lobby with a bar and table seating where a "warm up " person played. There wasn't an announcement prior concerning video taping or pictures taken during the show so people had their phones out recording and taking pictures. That was distracting. They have a good line up through 2019 so we will be going back to see other performers. Tickets are very reasonable. The theatre is located down town Shelby and in walking distance to several restaurants you can visit before the show. There is ample free parking at the bank next to the theatre .

What fun! Great theater in a super cute town. The other audience members were really nice. The staff at the box office and bar set the stone that you're about to have a great night - and we did! Looking forward to returning often.

Absolutely a treasure! This place is such a gem. Intimate venue with nationally-known artists. It's just amazing who appears here. I've been to dozens of shows here and it's always a great time. Buy your tickets far in advance for best seats. Get on the email list to receive notifications about new concerts! Three cheers for this place... providing first class entertainment in Shelby!

Horrible experience! More of a beer garden than a theatre! Went to a concert here and adults in their 40s-60s got so tanked before the concert my friends and I were surrounded by a bunch of loud, obnoxious drunk who kept kicking our seats and talking through the whole concert. When I went to complain the manager basically did NOTHING AND SAID IT IS WHAT IT IS. So I guess this is culture in Shelby?!? The concert was ruined for my friends and I and we will never go back to see people older than us act like drunken morons in public. And where were the cops as all of them drove away from the theatre totally plastered?

I attended the Main Street Conference and this venue was the host. I was impressed with the facilities and hope to attend a show there soon.

We saw Al Stewart. It was FANTASTIC! 400 seat theater with great acoustics. We live about a 1 1/2 hours away and will keep our eye on who's coming to perform. Wait a minute, 400 seats, it better not get too popular. kidding

An Art Deco 400 seat theater in the heart of Shelby. Was originally a movie house called The State Theater which opened in 1939. After having been shut down for 30 years it has been reopened/rehabilitated and is now an awesome live enetertainment venue. Great place to see an intimate show. Check out their website for events and concert dates. In addition to live bands they show retro movies. They had an awesome kids summer movie program this year with dirt cheap prices for a night of family fun. Marty Stuart is coming soon and so is Edwin McCain. And what's showing tomorrow? Back to the Future II - "Hello, McFly?? Get to the Don Gibson pronto!"
