Ended up in Kannapolis because my church member raved about the cake here. They have lots to choose from so I left with way too many slices, chocolate pound, strawberry, German chocolate, banana pudding, and so many others. The slices are huge so you definitely get your money's worth. Overall, everything had good flavor but most slices were dry. I will say that the chocolate pound was my favorite but I still added some heat to it. Thinking perhaps it was a bad day, I went back months later and ordered slices from cake that had yet to be cut and still it was dry. It is quite a drive for me so I won't make a special trip back but if in the area I may return for the chocolate pound.

I came in the door.... I said it before, never has a cake magnetized me more! On this Good Friday, I walked into a homemade cake lovers paradise. I purchased a strawberry shortcake, homemade pound cake with buttercream icing and the banana pudding cake. Just tasted all three and these are not from a box. They each have a unique flavor, texture and look, simply beautiful creations. Every detail of these cakes seems thoughtful and well executed. The banana is iced and a moist batter with light cream and decorated with little Nilla wafers. Confession: I didn't love the flavor. I couldn't taste much banana. The strawberry had the same crumb topping as the strawberry shortcake, ice cream and an entire middle layer of cream. I was there for it. The old fashioned frosted pound cake was nearly perfect, but I could taste the baking soda in the cake. I paid $4.50 per slice. I thought that price was fair, for a tall, generous slice. Also there is a $10 surcharge if you purchase a full cake out of the display. They also had a good looking peach cobbler on offer for $3.50 a serving, and a line out the door! The service was fine. I asked the woman serving, if she was Katrina. She said "no." Whoever Katrina is.... She could be crowned, Kannapolis Cakery Queen.

I have been back here 3 times in 1 week.I am a Plain pound cake girl but tried the butter cream pound cake the first day, went back and got the plain. It had just what I was looking for, thick and moist, some crispy edge parts, some deep gooey buttery parts, those are my favorite parts. I also bought 1 peanut butter cookie and had to come back and get 3 more a few hours later. Then I came back when they reopened and bought more. Peanut butter cookies were perfectly baked and moist in the center!! Will frequent here weekly on cheat day lol

I wanted to really enjoy her cakes but they were very dry. I ordered the red velvet and honeybun cake. This is just my opinion and preference on what I prefer in a cake The red velvet tasted like a very light chocolate cake with a very sweet icing with nuts. Its was an old cake and tasted as if it had been sitting a while. In my opinion it tasted nothing like a red velvet cake and that could have just been her preference but I didnt enjoy it. It had a refrigerator taste even after I let sit 2 hours. The honeybun cake was dry also. I believe it was a pound cake with a very tasty icing and a caramel sauce. The cake had a great flavor beside the dryness. Again this may be her recipe preference but I prefer moist pound cakes.I could have just came on the wrong day.

My husband went by on a Tuesday afternoon and was pleasantly greeted by two young lady's. They only sold cake here but had a variety including key lime, banana pudding, hershey, pound cake, etc. We ordered the pound cake and the banana pudding. Super yummy! Reminded me of how my grandmother used to make cakes. I'll definitely be back!

I called Katrina with a very last minute birthday cake request for my one year old. Many bakers would be annoyed with such a request (Friday afternoon call for a Saturday birthday) but Katrina was so kind and helpful over the phone. Much more so than other bakers in the area. She was more than happy to put something together for us, and created a gorgeous triple layer red velvet cake with buttercream frosting. It was decorated so beautifully I didn't want to eat it! My husband was concerned that I must have paid over $100 for the cake, but I think the cost was under $35. Incredible deal. Not only was it pretty, but the taste was phenomenal. All of my kids, my food critic husband and I LOVED this cake and will definitely return for our future cake needs which are quite frequent in our family of six. Highly recommend.
