If you know me, you know I like to eat. Even if you don't know me, there is plenty of evidence to suggest as much or that I have a glandular disease. And, I have a wicked (as my friends in Maine say) sweet tooth. These two things, combined with my loathing of most things physical and you have a recipe for being a little on the beefy side. Now that is out of the way I would like to tell you about the greatest cookies on the planet...nay, the universe (what is to follow is unsolicited and I'm not a paid spokesman). Creative Cakes, LLC at 156 South Fayetteville St. here in Asheboro (their phone number is 336.626.3333) is the best kept secret in the city and they have, without a doubt, the best cookies in the galaxy (I am hoping someone wants to refute this and invites me for a private tasting of their baked goods). I shared them with a picky client and he said the same thing. You don't know me from Adam so you'll have to go try one or fifteen for yourself. When you do, tell them the fat guy from the Asheboro Magazine sent you.

It seems that this bakery doesn't care for children's first birthdays. The review above and my little girl's birthday (which can be seen in my wife's filtered review) attest to this. Go to Central Bakery if you have cake and cookie needs.

Ordered a cake for my daughter. Cake did not turn out like expected. When talked to lady about order she was very rude and unprofessional. Cake looked like a 5 year old had decorated it. The taste of the cake was good but the overall appearance was awful. Under new management and they are not professional or very good with public. Would not recommend unless you want very simple cake.

I had my daughters 1st birthday cake ordered from Creative Cakes 6 weeks before her birthday. The day of the party came, and as any mother will know, you are very busy making preparations so I sent someone to pick up my cake. The cake was supposed to be pink and purple butterfly. It was outlined in black and looked like my 3 year old nephew had squirted frosting on it. I had paid extra for cream cheese frosting, it didn't taste like cream cheese frosting. When I called, the lady who answered the phone was very unpleasant. She made it feel like MY fault that I didn't like the cake. For a 1-year old's birthday, it should have been PRETTY but it was SO ugly. She said that they couldn't do cream cheese frosting with color, so they had to go over the cream cheese with their nasty tasting frosting. She said that if she had been the one to have taken the order, she wouldn't have let me order the cake. This was fine...however since I ordered it 6 weeks in advance, shouldn't she have called me?? I spent $64.00 on the cake *which was only 36 cupcakes* and it wasn't what I wanted. I asked for a refund, but she refused, and told me I could have a 'free' 8" cake, but when I asked for a decorations she snapped that we could only choose from roses or balloons (AFTER asking me what I wanted on the cake). I am NOT satisfied with the customer service, especially since not even once did she apologize for anything. I was very upset. Now I can't print out any pictures of the cake for my daughter to see when she's older because it was so ugly. If you're looking for customer service, do not go to this place. They are not as "Creative" as their name makes you think.

The cake tasted very good but I cannot say the same for the service. When I first walked in the people working there seemed annoyed to have a customer. I explained what I wanted which was a baseball cake and cupcakes for my son's 1st birthday. After placing my order I left and told the lady that my mother would pick the up the cake because she lives in Asheboro. (By the way, I drove 30 miles because I heard that this was a good place.) When my elderly mother delivered the cake to me, hours before my son's party , I realized that it said "happy 15th birthday"... Needless to say it was to late to drive 30 miles to Asheboro to have it fixed and when I called Creative Cakes they seemed to think it was my mother's fault for not checking it. She did not have glasses and couldn't see it and it's not her job to perfect the cake... I think it's safe to say that I will never buy a cake from Creative Cakes again.
