Absolutely amazing meal. Fried Zucchini, blackened chicken with Mac & cheese and fried okra. Shrimp & bbq plate with baked potato & slaw.

This has been a favorite for years, and over the years we've noticed a strong steady decline. It's not uncommon to order a BBQ plate and it just be half inedible. You get tough pieces that just aren't appetizing. I hadn't gone here in about 2 years and decided to stop in and give them another try. I ordered the BBQ and Shrimp combo plate, and as usual half the bbq was tough and inedible. But while trying to eat the bbq and chewing hard because of the tough meat I found a bone in the bbq. The bone broke my tooth from the force I was having to chew the meat. This has been the most expensive bbq plate I've ever had after having to get a root canal and crown. I won't ever go back. There's no amount of apology they could offer at this point to cover what it's cost me to get my tooth fixed.

Pleasant surprise. My 1st pick for food ended up being closed when I got there, so I found this place in a hunger-fueled panic and I'm very happy I did.Being new to the area, I've been trying new restaurants all over with some good and some bad results but this is one of my top choices now. The server and the food were unbelievable, and I will be back many times now. Inside was a little old fashioned and it worked perfectly with the whole theme. I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, please don't change a thing. Especially the pulled pork and Mac n cheese.

In the area hiking, and on the way back home, decided to stop at one of the local establishments to join an early dinner and some small town cooking. They have plenty of seating and the menu has lots and lots or choices. The prices are very affordable and the sides were plenty to choice from. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and Thursday's special (meatloaf). All the food was fresh, tasted great and the food came out immediately. Our server was Sabrina and she was absolutely amazing. If you're in the area absolutely want some good home cooking food then look no further. Countryside Barbecue is the spot for a delicious meal at a very affordable price. Can't wait to come back and try the Friday Country fried steak and BBQ Ribs.

Been coming to this Marion staple for years. Consistently good BBQ and brisket when they have it. Service is always fast and friendly even when they are packed. Desserts are awesome too if you have any room to spare.

Stumbled on this while road tripping and was sad. We did not live closer! Wonderful and attentive staff. Classic southern food choices for days! They offer specials daily, and I wanted to come back for each single day! Reminds me of an updated 70s diner as far as the style inside, but apparently President Obama visited at some point, so it definitely has some notoriety.

When in North Carolina eat barbecue. We lucked out at this little roadside diner, as we were passing through. The food was so yummy. We had the brisket and the chopped pork barbecue. It was New Year's Day so we had to have black-eyed peas, but we also tried their mac & cheese, coleslaw, and the potato salad. Loved the potato salad, red potatoes, and all the right ingredients. Oh, and we of course, took the banana pudding to go...ate that later when we got in our room. So good!
