Putting Cordelia Park in my "hidden gem" folder in a city that is continuing to grow and evolve. I had driven on North Davidson hundreds of times and saw the sign for this park, but the real trick is to stop and spend some time here. There's a great gated parking lot that allows families and visitors to park and get to the playground, there's also the pool (closed in the winter time) but I basically came here in search of an outdoor stair workout. Not only does the greenway come through the park, but there's a big elevation difference that allows for some gorgeous city views! The park also has some nice business neighbors like the Hobbyist and a Pho place, really nice way to start a Saturday is to workout, and then grab a coffee from the Hobbyist.I'm curious how booked up the event space is for the park since the back of the building is all glass and looks out to the gorgeous city skyline.

Located between Uptown and NoDa, this linear park is lengthwise along North Davidson Street. The indoor park and swimming pool and slashpad are currently closed, but the walking trails is still open.If you're looking for a spot to get some walking and some fresh air, you can definitely get that accomplished here. And for a bonus, there are a couple of curbside restaurants at 24th Street that you can pick up for an outdoor picnic in the park. This is a lovely outdoors space in the middle of an urban area.[Review 13124 overall, 441 of 2020.]

This is a great little park in NoDa. Back in our pre-vaccination pandemic days, we brought our takeout to this park a few times to eat. There are nice shaded picnic tables. I love that even though it's right in NoDa, it's never been crowded there when we went. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway goes right through the park too, so it's definitely worth a stroll on that while you're there. If you're looking for a shaded, quiet park in Charlotte, check this one out.

One of my favorite parks in Charlotte. Beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors with a pretty view. It is connected to the Sugar Creek Greenway and really close to Noda.

Was here on a hike on Thursday and the Little Sugar Greenway extends to this neck of the woods. Cordelia Park itself is not that big compared to Freedom Park or as nice. Walking into the Park and onto the Greenway there was garbage like soda cans, trash, plastic bags, broken liquor bottle, etc... Calling all Litter Bugs pick up after yourself and throw out your own trash. The environmentalist had garbage bags and picked up litter that was in our path. We also pitched in. Amazing hike and the things you notice in the park and greenway. Got to love mother nature and all it's beauty. We saw a North Carolina Praying Mantis, Wooly Bear Catepillar, Blue Heron having a bad hair day and hiding from us. Tons of mushrooms- Oyster and other interesting fungus. Tis the season for Pecans for they are ripe and dropping on you as you walk by.They are read to eat too. Just crack them open.

Cordelia Park - my kids spotted this place on the way to NoDa and made us circle back around to play. I had also seen a cop circling through there at that time - must be safe, right? Located on a hillside, this park has two levels. The lower level has a community pool and playground and the second has another playground. Unfortunately, included in the sandbox area was an underground hornets' nest someone had stirred up. Well, it makes sense, we are in Charlotte. Go Hornets! Haha!NoDa is a pretty hip and gentrified area, but sometimes you get lulled into a false sense of security; not all of NoDa is nice. As it got darker, I realized everyone else had left - everyone else but two young men parked near our car in a running SUV; this was not the Mystery Machine, but a dark vehicle with tinted windows. The driver had been watching us take pictures with our nice camera. Having grown up in New York, I started getting "that feeling" (hot flash/fight or flight), like something was going to happen and we needed to get the hell out of there. I hustled everyone into the car and headed down to the NoDa parking lot. When I passed by the SUV, the driver was either tweaking or dancing - I was not going to knock on his window and see if he needed medical assistance.Definitely not the kind of excitement I need in my life - I'll stick with the crowd, as there's safety in numbers...

Cordelia Park is a gem! Where else in Charlotte can you get such amazing natural space coupled with a perfect city view?Seriously! With Little Sugar Creek running through the length of the park, a natural spring, 2 playgrounds, places to cook out and a pavilion, flat land for playing sports, a community garden, a butterfly garden, children's art, a public pool, and the Cross Charlotte Extension getting ready to break ground. It's also the 2nd oldest park in Charlotte. The history in the neighborhood and the changes happening are vibrant http://www.cmhpf.org/kids/neighborhoods/belmont-et-al.htmlOn any given day you can find a diverse mix of people using the park for walking, playing, biking, getting photos taken, etc. My family and I are there very often with our children and have had great experiences and met wonderful people there. Yes you will find the random litter (we always pick it up - be the change you wish to see) but that's in all parks I've visited. You can also find lots of wildlife and critters about. Always room for a learning experience.
