Love the story of Heroic Henry who carried his injured officer 5 miles. He was only 17, the officer 18.

Very interesting look at civil war history. Gives a great perspective on what really happened and the people involved. The staff of volunteers were very helpful and informative. It's a quick tour and well worth the time, and it's free.

It's a controversial museum dedicated to the war of rebellion . The history of this war is just as contentious and divisive today as it probably was 150 years ago . Should we erase our ugly past ? While this is certainly a hot topic debate , this museum respectfully presents information that outlines the facts of that time . Lots of artifacts , clothing displays and informative markers . There is also an archive room . The volunteers are knowledgeable and provide unique tidbits of information as you explore the museum. Signing the guest book I was surprised to see visitors from all over the world . The museum is donation based and has a parking lot behind the museum and also street parking .

Stopped by here because it was free and we were in the neighborhood My husband and I were surprised by how much we learned in our hour long visit there. Very educational with a ton of relics on display. The staff was knowledgeable and seem to really enjoy what they do. We left with some print outs of information about various topics which are free.As others have stated, this is a history museum and not a covert racist museum. Information is plentiful on African-American soldiers that fought for the confederacy in this museum. All should feel welcome.

If you are interested in history then, you have to come here. This was once a house, now it is a confederate museum. You can park on the right in a big vacant parking lot or you can actually walk to this museum from Falls Park. Admission is free. But I did see a donation box in the middle of the room. They have lots of civil war items and memorabilia in here from Confederate States of America. However, they mostly have Civil War items from South Carolina. On one wall they have pictures of all 48 Generals from South Carolina. I saw a canon in here along with several guns from the mid 1800"s. About the guns, well, the person giving the your said they were all made from other countries. They have a big piano-organ in here too. That's right, a big piano that with one step on a pedal converts it into an organ. The tour guide said around December of every year they have Christmas in Dixie an some musician comes here to play it. They have confederate money in here also which is for sale. I also saw a room with doctors tools from the Civil War era in here. I could spend hours In here looking at this stuff, reading and talking to the tour guide. My tour guide was nice and friendly. I was lucky in getting the best tour guide that I think that works here. One important thing is that all tour guides are volunteers. Ask for the tour guide that wears a dress lol.

Was a great way to spend the morning. The collection was impressive. The people there were very knowledgeable and not pushy. You can wander through it your own pace but they were more than happy to answer any questions or comments. A lot of free literature was available. And we loved the chance to be hands on with some of the collection. That made and impression on our concept if they actual times and experiences if they era.
