You want to eat "Where the locals eat" then you'll be dining here with the locals at the Coffee House Waffle Shop. When we arrived at 8:30 Sunday morning, there were three Statesville police cars, two fire trucks and three rusty pickup trucks parked out front. That's about as local as it gets.Warmly welcomed and "seat yourself" so we took a booth on the side. A few minutes later, a waitress arrived with coffee cups got us started. Breakfast took about ten minutes and the open kitchen design allowed us to watch the flow of orders being given to the cooks and plates coming out. French Toast for Mrs. K. was light and fluffy, the sort of challah bread that makes it ideal. A ham and cheese omelet for me was nicely sized and nicely stuffed with toast. There's nothing wrong with the homestyle local cooking here.[Review 1778 of 2024 - 3698 in North Carolina - 22801 overall]

This is my family's favorite local breakfast spot, as you can tell by the pictures. It's close by us, but it's easy to get to from the interstate and has plenty of parking. It's always busy, but we've been told it was a lot busier pre-pandemic, at times then it was standing room only. Inside is a counter, booths and a couple of large tables. It's kept clean and while busy, there is never a long wait for a table. The waitresses (great ladies) keep bussing constantly. We've only had breakfast here, but it's all awesome. The pancakes and Belgian waffles are fluffy and tasty. Eggs are always cooked just right and the omelets are prepared with no overcooking (no brown spots) of the egg. Bacon is crisp and last time, I tried "livermush" for the first time. (It's literally smushed liver, cooked in a patty square.) Delicious. Crisp and tasty. Their biscuits are light as air and a perfect companion to their breakfast gravy. The prices can't be beat either. Perfect for a large family outing. Tip: Even though it says 24 hours, it is only open from 6 am to 2 pm now.

Nothing fancy. Just good food and service.I've only been here once before and that was for breakfast a couple of years ago so decided to try lunch today.Coffee House Waffle Shop is a local chain in the North Carolina Foothills. More of a diner but food is generally pretty good and service as well.Went for lunch today about 12:30 an they had a nice lunch time crowd. Took a couple of minutes to be waited on but once that started, everything went smooth.Looking over the menu, I chose The Boss which is a cheeseburger with bacon, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato. For a change, I was given the option of Hashbrowns as a side in lieu of the normal French Fries. I chose the Hashbrowns.Took but a couple of minutes till my lunch came out. The Boss Burger was excellent with good taste and texture. Hashbrowns on the other hand were a bit underdone and couple have used another minute on the grill. All in all, very good and while it is a bit out of the way from me, I will come back at some time. It's on the North Side of Exit 150, Hwy 115 off of I-40 for those passing through.

This is a spot that is frequented by locals (my neighbor told me about it after I moved here last year). Now - if you are looking for Crepes and mimosas with dinner napkins and candlelight - this is NOT the place for you. BUT if you want a good hearty basic down-home breakfast, then keep reading. This was my third or so visit here - I come here for the pancakes (and the scratch biscuits!) :) This place is super casual - seat yourself. Our waitress was a little busy but I was in no hurry. She took our drink orders and came back for our meal orders. On this visit I had pancakes and bacon (as did my son). I also added the cinnamon apples to my order (I am not a fake syrup kinda girl and if you don't have real maple syrup I would rather not Aunt Jemima my way through an otherwise great breakfast). Now pancakes have to be pretty darn good if they taste good without being drowned in high fructose corn syrup or what they call syrup. These pancakes have the perfect mixture of a nice crust and tender center. I always order two pancakes but I never ever finish them. In the past I have had eggs over easy with grits and ham...the cooks KNOW how to make an over easy egg (not all do it well). Coffee is good basic and strong (no Starbucks here...) but it works. This is just good food. Now I will say this - sometimes the service can be a bit sketchy but that depends on if there are a lot of ppl in there and the number of waitresses. This is our lazy Saturday brunch spot so I'm not in a huge rush when I come. If you are, keep this in mind when you go. Needless to say we enjoyed the food. And we will be back!!

Horrible customer service. People licking there fingers and eating at the bar for all customers to see. Will be calling corporate. Under new ownership, hahahahaha. The worst ever. Apparently you cant separate checks either. It has to be on one ticket.

We have been there several times in 2021 and each time the service has really been good even when the restaurant was near the COVID limit. Once we went in and they were so busy they had trouble clearing the tables but still the service was good. I have had several different menu items and they have all been good and cooked just right. Pick your time so they are not overly busy and you will enjoy ity

My family and I visited for the first time the other day. The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and food was good. Overall a good little breakfast place. The girls got waffles, they were Belgian style and they seemed to like them. The bacon was cooked just right, not rubbery, not too overdone. My wife got eggs scrambled with cheese, biscuit, and grits. The scrambled eggs looked like an omelet. So much so, that I asked her if that's what she had ordered. The biscuit was just ok, and the grits were fine. I got the pancake, eggs, bacon and grits. The eggs over medium were cooked just right. The bacon again was cooked well, the grits were fine. However, if you are going to get pancakes anywhere I would get them here. They were great! I'll be back for the pancakes for sure. Light and fluffy, soft on the inside with a nice, golden crust on the outside. The service was great. The very attentive waitress saw my daughters playing with the paper from the straws. They play this game where they hold it between their fingers and chop threw it. When she noticed this she brought a few extra straws while refilling our coffee. Overall this was a great trip and we will definitely be back.

My new favorite breakfast spot!! Very friendly service and the food was quick and delicious. Love a place you can just come in and have a seat without having to worry about not being taken care of promptly.

Walked into the establishment with a party of 3 and stood waiting for 5 minutes without being acknowledged AT ALL. I was trying to be polite but after so long I went to the front and asked if we are suppose to seat ourselves and the lady told me to go ahead and grab a table. I understand if it is a seat yourself establishment however it is not being acknowledged, not even a "hold on" or "it's gonna be a minute" that is upsetting. When we got to our table we ordered coffee, and two waters. The hostess came back with a sweet tea and two waters. We did not have a hard time ordering but when the food came it was BARELY warm. The french toast was very dry with no flavor. It tasted more like a chewy funnel cake than anything. The gravy is dry and lacks flavor. After finishing we waited a good 10-15 to get our bill but once again we're not acknowledged so we went to the front counter to pay. Very dissatisfied with our first experience here. food and customer service are terrible!!
