Cliff Hangers

I had found out about this place and had wanted to meet up with my best friend local to Mooresville so this place was a win-win. I had never climbed before and my friend had limited experience, so it was a unique experience. For beginners, auto belaying (being clipped to a retractable rope with a harness) seems to be the most obvious choice. However, there are only five of the auto belay paths on the first floor, and the rest are upstairs and used for birthday parties. So if you're coming with the intention of using the auto belay only like we were, you might have to wait and take turns. I have a feeling this won't be our last time there though. It was a super fun activity and I'd highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a new activity!

This is one of the best, if not the best climbing gym I have been to (and I have been to a lot). The staff is super friendly, cost is fair, and climbs! Wow! There are so many styles of climbing which all come with TP or lead. The lead wall is incredible. The bouldering area is cool. Although the outside climbing was closed due to weather, what a super cool addition to this gym. There are 3 levels with so much more to offer. I decided to become a member and make this my new gym.

Has potential if they added more workers to be around this place with no support or supervision.

Too busy! ALL THE TIME! Overrun with children to the point they can't accommodate them. They offer a membership over the summer but then have summer camps and bring in other schools/camps/day care to the tune of 60+ kids in a day -- making the ability to climb under a 9 or 10 route nearly impossible-- all day long. I love kids and am happy to share and wait my turn but there simply isn't enough under 9 climbing routes to accommodate everyone in a reasonable time frame. They don't care about their customers, especially a beginner. Just their bottom line. The people who work here have been very kind and understanding about it (except the management) but when I asked to cancel my membership on the 21st they said I missed it by a day and had to pay another month--I get they have a policy but I've paid $432 (including next month) and been able to climb 4 times in 3 months-- due to the gym being so packed. It makes me not even want to make the trip to try to climb. Unfortunate because I used to love to climb (at another gym).

Grading bouldering only as that's what I climb. Good problems, nothing felt awkward. However they have huge ranges in terms of their grading. V0-V3, V3-V6, V6-V9, V9+. I understand grading is subjective but I like seeing true grads vs ranged grading. Safety Mats are velcroed together which might be a hazard. I fell off a problem and landed right in the velcro section, my foot went through. Someone can get seriously hurt. Clean facility, lead/belay walls look amazing (tho not my style of climbing). Staff was super friendly. $20 dollar day pass which is great. I travel for work and like to go rock climbing in different cities and $20 is definitely on the lower end nowadays. Please keep it at $20. They have a cafe/bar which is cool, though I didn't try anything. If you drink, you are done climbing per their rules.

One of the biggest climbing gyms in NC! Good variety of climbing types and skill levels including MANY auto belays and lead walls. Bright, clean, and fresh feeling. Really nice kids area with a slide (aimed at elementary ages, not toddlers). Outdoor climbing was shaded. Cafe was closed, but the foosball, lounging chairs, and fireplace looked pretty sweet. The staff was friendly. Pricing was on par with other large gyms. I did notice several adults in street shoes so maybe it attracts more first-time climbers? Hint: Definitely get the climbing shoes! And consider a lesson the first time

Huge shout out to Devin and Paige at Cliff Hangers in Mooresville! I took my 2 sons there for a day of fun and rock climbing and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They made sure my boys were properly secured at all times and very attentive to them. My 4 year old was nervous at first but once he saw the staff climbing up, he was determined to do it as well! I am a clean freak and I will say that this place is very well taken care of. My boys and I had a great time and we can't wait to get back there.

I visited Cliff Hangers the other day by myself looking to whip myself into shape by doing something fun. My plan was to go in for the day then if I enjoyed climbing I would purchase a membership. Overall my experience was not too bad. I was given a lovely orientation to learn the ropes then I was off. I enjoyed all of the walls but especially the auto belays! (The boulder wall was a tad scary) The only complaint I would really have would have to be the customer service at the desk. As soon as I walked into the gym there was a young man wearing a name tag that said "Jensen" that greeted me with a groan and a what do you want. I explained to him that I needed a single day pass and that I would need to rent a harness and a size 14 shoe. He said "damn you got big feet". I have no idea what provoked him to say such a thing as I felt like I was being a respectful customer. After that experience I decided I would hold off on the membership. I plan on trying to make it down to InnerPeaks in Charlotte so hopefully that will be better.P.S. the shoes run very small I had to bump my 14 up to a 15.

I tried this place and it's great I got a membership! They change the configuration of the walls often which makes it so much fun!
