City Lights Rooftop

This place is literally a forget location and, while I hate to trash any business, I've gotta be honest first off , weird hours and that's a challenge In a hotel bar. The service is okay...folks are nice but everything slow and my app took forever. Let's talk apps...my burrata was so delayed and the cheese was meh. The heirloom tomatoes were cold and old and tasteless. I added a ton of salt and BTW...no bread . The sliders weee awful and the oysters weee scary. My martini was fine...and the specialty manhattan was awful. They need to do better I sprite of the beautiful ambiance.

Dropped in for drinks. I got an old fashion, it was pre-mix and didn't taste very good. Only drank about half of it. The outside area has a DJ.

I was only in Charlotte for a night a really wanted to enjoy a city view without the hassle of finding a place to park and paying a million dollars for a half decent meal. I found City Lights on Yelp and the photos looked like the perfect view PLUS they had a Free Valet Parking deal when you Check-In on Yelp. SOLD! The valet didn't totally understand the check-in deal but he was super nice and gave me a free parking pass in a heart beat. The hotel entrance and lobby is beautiful, the rooftop bar check-in gal was super informative and sweet, and the DJ rocked the house. The bartenders, however, were not very friendly or attentive. There was a really weird vibe behind the counter so maybe something just happened before I got there that made the environment hostile. I ordered an IPA from a local craft brewery called NoDa and a tuna appetizer which came with pita chips and some form of ahi tuna. I was a little bummed they didn't have actual food on the menu and how expensive the apps were, but it did the job. The IPA was not the best I ever had and it didn't help it was warm, but again, it did the job. The DJ was super fun, the outdoor rooftop environment was hip, and the view was great, though not the best for pictures. There's a reflective plastic barrier that looks tacky in photos. I'd recommend coming here for an event or first drink of the night if you're staying at the hotel. It's definitely not the hottest spot in town nor does it serve the best drinks or food, but it is a cool view and the overall staff / parking situation made it a pleasant experience.

John Paul our mixologist for the evening was wonderful.Polo the greater, before we went into the city lites room, he gave us his southern hospitality charm.This place is very hip and very busy, I totally get it because the view was incredible.I WOULD return.

City Lights Rooftop located on the roof of the Le Meridien hotel, displays fabulous views of the downtown Charlotte. Unfortunately, in the winter the outside views are spoiled by the weather elements. I was wondering why heaters are not provided (as in other establishments which have outdoor seating area in the winter), but was told that they were left outside and rusted...Drinks are ok, staff is all right!!!

The atmosphere is cool. You get a good view of the city all around. We went about 2 hours before closing. We were only able to get one drink because there was a storm that was coming. (Great smh) but we got to enjoy a drink before leaving. The reason they get 2 stars. HUGE cockroach running around. We only saw one but it was huge. This was a turn off. I know we're outside, but I've been to rooftop bars that didn't have insects running around. Makes me think they're some inside the bar area as well. Maybe the hotel even. Not sure. I just didn't like that at all.

This isn't gonna be a typical Yelp review, so take it as it is.I was at the Sheraton for a wedding some weekends ago. The after-party was held at the City Lights rooftop, which was convenient since the events were all at the banquet facilities inside the hotel.To get to City Lights, you have to go through the Le Meridien elevators. If anyone knows those elevators, it's pretty damn slow to get one. So anyways, once you get up there, you come across a waiter/waitress who'll check your ID to go upstairs.In our case, we had a special situation because of the wedding after party. There was a deal where everyone got 1 free drink ticket. As a result, I'm not able to judge the prices of the place. Anyhow, I walk up the stairs and to the rooftop I go.You walk up to a narrow (but not small) enclosed bar area with a TV. There's one main bar (which isn't huge) to order drinks. Most of the value is outdoors with a good size roof deck with tons of furniture and a pretty cool view of Charlotte (at least from the perspective of the outsider).All of these facets should make this a popular rooftop bar. However, it seems that the bar's missing something. I know it was after midnight, but I don't seem to think that a lot of people are here. Also, almost every rooftop far should have heaters all around the rooftop. I didn't see that and I guess it's because of the lack of foot traffic or questionable service. I don't know. It could be the location too. But it's unfortunate.

So my friend had her anniversary gathering here over the weekend . I have been here before but years ago . Its inside of the meridian hotel on the rooftop . We were all a little disappointed because we all felt it could have been a variety of different types of music. Don't come here if you are terribly hungry they have small bites on the menu . The view here on the rooftop is amazing and to be honest I just had to take me a picture holding up the infamous champagne with a popsicle inside. All in all I would recommend maybe just for drinks and friends getting together . We left early due to wanting to go somewhere with better music . Maybe I'll give them another shot one day soon .

Beautiful view! In my opinion, one of the best in the city. It just finished raining the evening I went, so I couldn't sit down on anything, but the view made it worth it. They have beautiful flowers outside and the atmosphere is just very inviting. The drinks are good and the staff was nice. I hope to come back another time when the weather is better because I could sit here all night in the perfect conditions.

We stopped in on Saturday night around 11 pm. We were excited to see a DJ spinning and dancing underway! After talking with the bartenders, I was informed it was under new management! I'm glad they are revamping the space, as City Lights has the best view of the Charlotte skyline and previous ownership didn't do much with the space. The cocktails were fantastic, and the service was excellent! It was nice to have a more welcoming and comfortable rooftop to visit in Charlotte-- less formal and stuffy comparing it to others in the area. I definitely recommend, and looking forward to coming back!
