I love Troutman's China Garden , and though I may go months or even years not eating there, it never fails and is delicious every time. I've been eating here for... Almost 20 years! When I was in high school I'd go with my friends on many Wednesdays and Sundays after church or school or youth group. And if you're from Troutman even now, you know there's not many places open on Sundays. LolWhen you could still eat inside, I'd take my babies in there and now they're teenagers. When I went to pick up some takeout a couple years ago, after not going for years, the owner/mom remembered me and my daughter despite her being a teenager now. Similarly, I recognize the babies and toddlers I used to see doing their homework in the dining chairs while their mom worked, and they're now in their teens/young adults working there! You get a LOT of food, and there's always enough for leftovers. We usually just get 2 combos, for a 4-person family (sweet & sour chicken with white rice, general tsao's with lo mein, side of vegetables, + my egg drop soup) and it's enough for us all to eat, and leftovers the next day.

Everything we try is good. It's usually 20 min pick up and service is good. The only thing is the Ambiance, the covid counter and passing food through special door is kind of different. Would be nice to have option to eat in, but the closed off dining area is not very welcoming.

Standard Chinese food. Hit or miss on taste- sometimes it's good- mostly just standard. Still locked down for COVID and fortified for some reason to where it's very unwelcoming when you go in. Dining area is still not opened and you must get your food through the super secret no germ transmitting portal even though everyone touches the box

Hidden GemA little hard to find but trust the yelp map. It's behind and actually underneath Randy's BBQ.I've know about this place for some time how but keep forgetting to stop in. Today was the day and it was great. It's small but clean and efficient. I walked in and a Chinese lady greeted me and indicated that I should seat myself. Found a table a few feet away and as she came over a minute later.Started out with Hot Tea and for a change, it was nice and dark with a strong robust flavor.Had a bit of a problem with the menu because so many items looked good. One of my favorites was on the Lunch Menu and that was Mongolian Beef but ever Mongolian Beef I have had lately, even the little chili pepper next to it on he menu, has been a disappointment.Went ahead and ordered it anyway. It comes with choice of white or pork fried rice so needless to say, it was pork fried and for a soup, choice of won ton or egg drop so egg drop it was.Took about 10 minutes but lunch came right out. My trepidation on the Mongolian Beef proved to be false. It was great with plenty of heat and spice, the hot and spicy it should be. Rice was good as was the won ton soup. All this and at a great price. About the other items on the menu, I'll be back and start working my way through them. You'll have to hunt to find the place but well worth it.

I still like the food as a basic Chinese menu but china garden has become a Covid fortress. You pass credit cards under plexiglass and the entire ordering pickup area is boarded and closed off. Wow...not welcoming at all.

I think China Garden is just standard Chinese food. Lots of rice or noodles, some kind of meat and an egg roll. Since work isn't too far away and Troutman doesn't offer up many choices this place is alright for the price if you want to get some take out.The restaurant itself is in an okay condition. On the rough side though. But this place has what I'd say is the most unique thing for any Chinese restaurant I've ever been to - you can't possibly miss all the pictures they've put up of their wedding all over the place. Not saying it has anything to with the food but it's an interesting little characteristic that you won't find too many other places. It's like this southern Christian idea of family mash-up with the Chinese restaurant business plan.

Just plan awful Chinese food. Very expensive ($28) for beef fried rice and boneless spare ribs. Was completely flavorless and the boneless spare ribs were 80% fat. Very disappointing. Don't waste your time or money.

Ordered some classic Chinese food tonight after a big day with the kids. Our shrimp with lobster sauce was so runny it was basically soup. The moo shu pork was unrecognizable - lots of cabbage, cubes of carrots and absolutely no seasoning. We had to throw it away it tasted so bad. We had to try China Garden thinking it may be a hidden gem but no. Save yourself time and money and find somewhere else for a Chinese food fix.
