The 2017 Charlotte Food Fight did not disappoint. Another great event at Stumptown Park. I arrived right at 3:00 when the event kicked off and the crowds were already lined up in front of food trucks, which was great to see. This year there was a larger group of trucks, which I was happy to see. The secret ingredient this year was coffee! So each truck had to have one item featuring coffee, which made it very interesting. Fresh Med by far highlighted the coffee within their lamb and cous cous dish, amazing! I had the ability to taste several other trucks options and will say King of Pops had a great coffee popsicle! Overall, love the food, entertainment and beer selections from D9 Brewing.Definitely looking forward to 2018..what will the secret ingredient be???

Five stars for a well organized event with a superior turnout. A dozen or so food trucks, neatly circled in the parking lot of Stumptown Park. All sorts of foods, from sandwiches to hot dogs to fried potatoes. Each of the food trucks had a Food Fight special and you were expected to try the special and then vote. Sadly, I only managed to eat six different specials (hey, I tried!) including Wings and Chips from Wingz on Wheelz, a Dirty South Bowl from New Wrap Order, a dog from JJ's Hot Dogs, a Half Italian from What Goes Round and then some tasty Chicken Thighs from Tiger Yakitori. Oh, and three beers from D9.Music was quite good. The first gal I heard was okay, but the Charlotte School of Rock kids were awesome. That dark haired girl rocked it with Helter Skelter, but it just seems like an odd choice from a teenager. Bassist was spot on.Maybe some more seating would have helped, but it is a park. I just forgot to bring my lawn chair. So I "accidentally" ran into the Yelp table and borrowed a corner, socializing with our lovely CM Nikki and Kate T. and Christi K.

Great event! I stopped by really quickly to check things out, but there were a ton of people out... at least 10 food trucks and D9 was on site to pour brews. Stumptown Park is a great set-up since they have the stage and a really nice grassy area to sit and enjoy some live music, good eats, and being outside on a spring day. Mother nature started spitting on us when i got out there, but the overcast skies made for some good outside time without it being so hot. Either way, the park has a lot of tall trees so you can find some shade.Food truck lines met in the middle... since the food truck made a wagon circle formation.I'll be honest, I had not planned on stopping by, but I did a quick errand in Matthews so I was just shot-gunning a beer at the Beer Temple when someone had come in and told me they came from the Food Fight (super walkable from the Beer Temple). I believe the food item in his hand was chicken and waffles. The ingredient was coffee? So they had coffee ground in the waffle batter. I didn't stop to sample any of the other food, but it all smelled amazing.Great to see everyone having a good time in Matthews!

A phenomenal event. Some of these food trucks of gone beyond handing food out of truck window to making these dinner options a culinary experience. This event seemed to attract the best of those.I was fortunate enough to be granted a sampling from several different trucks.Cafe Ganache brought their A-game and seemed to be the first truck to sell out of food. Their special entry using the Magnolia Coffee for the contest portion was out of this world. If you need a catered dessert, put them on speed dial. If they don't have a full calendar, they will as word is sure to spread around.Fresh Med, Wings on Wheels, JJ Red Hots and King of Pops also set out to impress patrons. The event raised money for Different Heroes which helps out children with "limb differences" and they were working to get 3D printers in schools so kids could learn how to make 3D limbs.

Whoa! What a great event! The Charlotte Food Fight is both a fund raiser and a Food Truck Competition. Anyone can come! Each year the trucks are given an ingredient to include in a dish- this year it was Cloister Honey. Regular menus are served but the sample size dishes with the special ingredients were only $3!! You/we, the people, get to cast your vote.I tried samples from Tin Kitchen, JJ's Red Hots, King of Pops, New Wrap Order, Comfort Food on Wheels and Hart's Soda Shoppe. Just an amazing day! Of course Tin Kitchen nailed it with their Scallop dish! Fourth year in a row! But I fell in love with you Blackberry Chipotle Honey King of Pops - you burn so good!!Live band, great weather, cool Yelpers and D9!!! Excellent event!!!

5 star event! Who doesn't like food trucks, beer, great weather and music. This was a great fundraiser for charity. I loved the variety of food trucks and that there were plenty of food trucks and not just a handful. The prices were very reasonable nothing was priced iver $5. The secret ingredient, Cloister Honey, was amazing to see the food trucks cook with and make tasty dishes using the honey. I'm not sure who is going to win the food fight but the Tin Kitchen hands down was my favorite truck. Their scallop taco, pork belly taco and Korean beef bbq slider were all amazing. This was such a great event and I can't wait for the 5th annual next year.

Wonderful event supporting Relay for Life. Trucks compete for best use of this years ingredient (Cloister Honey), best overall + people's choice. Specially brewed honey beer and live music round out the experience for a wonderful day in the park! The sun is out, come on down!
