This was so much fun! I mean, I have no athletic ability and I was still able to lunge and sweep. The instructors were great guys.

What an awesome gem in charlotte! I never knew this place existed until Yelp held a learn how to curl event. Not gonna lie, I was a little intimidated at first because I am not super athletic and wouldn't say I take instruction all too well. But the instructors are all awesome and take things really slow with you as you are learning to ensure everyone is comfortable and confident. Instructors are all volunteers so they are super passionate about it. After an hour of instruction we played a game - where they continued to talk everyone through things and give tips. This is a membership place, there are no individual day passes (which is where it lost one star for me -- would love to be able to go every now and then!). You sign up for an annual membership and then can sign up for as many leagues as you would like. Leagues run every night of the week and vary in difficulty. As folks sign up, they are placed on teams based on their skill level as well. Aka if you are new they will pair you with people who are more experienced so you can learn from there. There is also an instructional style league on Sunday evenings for new folks. They do also offer corporate team building events (run about $50 per person and include training staff). There is a lounge area (right when you walk in) that has a variety of games to play including snooker (a variation of billiards) and crokinole (an addicting table top game). There is also a pro shop and a reasonably priced bar (about $3 for a beer and $5 for a mixed drinks) as well as a glass viewing wall to spectate players on the ice.

So Much Fun!!I went here for a yelp event (thank you Nikki!) and loved it! I never knew there was so much strategy to curling. The staff was wonderful - they explained the entire game, gave step-by-step instructions and demonstrations, then let you try and gave you tips on how to improve. They make it look so easy, but it's actually quite challenging to get the stones where you want them to go. The facilities are extremely clean and there's a bar for drinks after games too!Best tip about this place: Bring layers!! It is seriously is under 30degrees in there!! Burr!!

Curling is officially my new favorite thing. Before the Learn to Curl class, we were complete beginners but the curling pros at Charlotte Curling taught us the basics step by step. After getting the hang of sliding, throwing and sweeping, we played against another group of four. We had SO MUCH FUN! Memberships are limited so sign up soon!

Have you ever woken up one morning and been like "Hm, I wonder what olympic sport I'll try today?" and then you think of the most random sport you could think of and you research where you can learn it and you find that the nearest place around you is in another country?Of course you haven't, because Charlotte Curling exists. Gotta love the secrets that the Queen City has to offer. Now, apparently there was a Groupon that existed for this for a while, but I didn't know about that. For $25, you have a 2 hour session with coaches that teach you everything from the very basics - sweeping, delivery, technique and form, and you get to spend your last hour or so playing a real match with others who are there to learn like you.The communication that the facility provided before the event as well as how well everything was set up during the event was flawless. These guys know how to entertain, but more importantly, they know how to teach. I feel like these guys can teach almost anybody how to succeed, and I think I actually might go back and do a session or two because of that.Bonus, when you do this event, you get a free 2-week long membership to come back and try it out with the big boys. They have plenty of options of events and practices, ranging from their professional leagues to their "5 and under" (talking years of experience, not age, apparently!) league. Also, fellow libation enthusiast, they have a fully stocked bar with really cheap prices for good stuff. Prost!

I used to think curling was simply for Canadians or women with long hair... But today's sample of curling changed all of that. It's for us locals to. And it's a blast. All the staff are volunteers and very gracious when it comes to those of us who've never heard before. They're patients and enthusiasm make me want to come back and possibly join on a league. This may be one of Charlotte's best kept secrets

Charlotte Curling Center is an amazing place! First of all not a lot of people know about this place. That needs to change! If you have ever been interested in learning more or even just watching curling up close this is the place to go! My girlfriend and I attended a Learn to Curl class through Yelp (they offer this class regularly through the center) and it was a blast. I've watched curling in the olympics but had no idea half the things involved! The center has a bar as well because nothing goes with curling like a good Canadian beer. Curling is a great exercise and everyone that works, or volunteers, there was great and super helpful.
