Charley's Dairy Bar

my sister and I visited Charley's multiple times this year. Today though, because of a Gas Leak in the area they were the only restaurant in Albemarle that was able to stay open. it was super busy and standing room only. We found a booth after a short wait and placed our very generic order nothing special. after an hour wait and witnessing several people come in, order, eat, pay and leave we finally flagged a waitress over and explained we had waited for a while and understood they were busy but would she mind checking on our order when she had a moment. she came back to let us know there had been a huge call in order and we were 3rd in line now to get our order. We said ok and about 10 min later the owner came over with the grill scraper in one hand and a hand towel in the other. He raised his voice with us and screamed about being the only resturant in town open and he would get to us when he got to us and we would just have to wait. He was rude, disrespectful and embarrassed us in front of all the other patrons. He then swiftly turned and went back to the kitchen. we had no idea what we did to deserve that treatment. We were both mortified by his attack. We got up and left after wasting an hour and being yelled at by the OWNER for no reason at all. The service and food has always been very good but I will never go back there again and Noone I know will either. I'm sure it won't matter to him but I sure hope if you are looking for a place for local food you consider another location. This small business owner apparently makes so much money he does not care about new patrons and will not hesitate to scream at you if you ask them to check on an order.

Don't bother. They advertise themselves as a dairy bar and do not serve any ice cream. Weird. Change your sign and get some friendlier servers.

Service was fine and servers were friendly. Seemed like a pretty popular place. The menu offered mostly fried foods, burgers and hot dogs. My friends said that there sandwiches were ok. I had a salad and it was pretty bare-bones.Seating is limited.

Best Hot Dog in Albemarle! Soft serve and hand dipped ice cream.

Cute local shop. Had a double cheeseburger with mustard, chili and slaw. Other family members had similar burgers. Average taste. Nothing spectacular. Fries had very little taste. Onion rings were brown and nasty tasting - I sent them back. The restaurant was busy so the locals like it. I saw lots of hot dogs being served. I'll try that next time.

Good food for less money.We eat there 2 to 3 times a week. Also they have ice cream.

best service to go along with the best food in Albemarle. Good ole hotdog or cheese burger with crispy French fries or onion rings! tip them good they deserve it!

I love this place, it's my favorite hot dog in town. Friendly servers and a great menu. No, they aren't really a dairy bar but they used to be years ago.
