Somehow I had no idea that Cedar Lake even existed until Christmas 2016. Growing up, my parents and I always drove up near Boone to pick a tree and I loved the experience of a farm versus a boring ol' lot set up in a random parking lot somewhere. Having the magic of a Christmas tree farm without the long drive to the mountains is absolutely fabulous! There are always tons of trees in an array of sizes available and new ones are constantly being put up as quickly as they're being purchased. The trees are grown directly on the farm itself and, in my experience, they've always been full and cut fresh! In addition to the trees, they also sell beautiful wreaths and handmade Christmas decorations. Prices, in my opinion, are fair and pretty on-par with other Christmas tree farms I've visited. (Although, the crew here has always proven to be more helpful than most, assisting in loading the tree onto the car and anchoring it effectively and generally being extremely pleasant & wonderful.)The farm itself has many different animals to see and many to pet. In the times we've been, there were even some Alpacas in a pen near the parking lot with all sorts of Alpaca fur-based products available! There's a snack shack boasting hot chocolate, coffee, and other treats to make the experience even more enjoyable. Santa is there in his sleigh, too! There's even a hay mountain on which kids can climb and explore. It was crazy crowded both times I've been, but with so much to do and see, the only evidence of the crowd was the parking lot! Cedar Lake is definitely an annual tradition for our family now!**Note: The photos are not mine and were taken from Cedar Lake's Facebook page to show its quaint adorable-ness!

Great Christmas tree farm for the whole family. The first thing out of my wife's mouth when we got there was, " when we have kids, I can't wait to bring them here". This place has a ton of activities for kids including Santa, farm animals, and even a hay slide. I also thought the trees were reasonably priced, we got a nice Fraser fir for about 60 bucks. I plan on returning next year!

Another great year with the family picking out a Christmas tree at Cedar Lakes tree farm!My granddaughter who is 5 now really had a great time this year.We all enjoyed the farm animals, cows, pigs, turkeys, donkeys and chickens with roosters crowing all around. My granddaughter really enjoyed the hay bale mountain and the chute you could slide down. She had such a good time we let her play for over an hour before started to pick out our tree, again scoring an 8 footer from the "Charlie Brown" section for just $35. Other trees start at $50 and go up with the highest priced one we saw at $120. Once we paid and I loaded the tree, we were all having such a good time, we hung out for another hour or so.The only thing we missed this year is because of the burning ban, none of the fire pits or chimneas were going and warm fire would have been nice this year since it was cloudy and cool all day.And of course, Santa was there seeing who was naughty and nice! All staff is friendly and helpful and we are always thanked for our business and wished a "Merry Christmas"!If you don't want to drive to the mountains and want a much better experience than picking your Christmas tree of a grocery store parking lot or some lot on the side of the road,Then my whole family highly recommends Cedar Lakes tree farm!

Such a great experience! Our family went to get a tree today and left feeling so happy. All the workers were so welcoming and helpful. They had beautiful trees, wreaths, and farm animals. They offered free hot cider and had a little snack store to buy food, if wanted. The general store was so cute and pretty reasonable. They load your tree for you which is so nice! We will definitely make this our yearly tradition now.

Cedar Lake Tree Farm is the perfect place to pick out your Christmas Tree. They have Fraser Firs from their mountain farm or Virginia Pines in the field that you cut. Prices are reasonable...Fraser Firs begin at $30 in the Charley Brown section or $35 and up in the regular section. We got a beautiful 10 foot tree for about half of what we would have paid in Charlotte and it was easy to decorate. Once you've selected your tree, the boys who work at the farm will help you get a fresh cut on it and will help you tie it to your vehicle for safe ride home. The farm also has beautiful wreathes that are freshly made each week. They have candycane wreathes that are our favorites and you can get the wreathes with or without bows and decorations. Last year they had kissing balls for the first time and we displayed it in our entryway for a new decoration. The favorite part of the visit to the farm is the giant hay mountain that our kids play on while we pick our tree. They hate to come off the hay mountain when its time to go. On cold days, there is a fire roaring in the fire pit and there is always free hot cider. Animals are a good experience too.Santa has been at the farm when we were there and he sits in one of the sleighs with the kids. Its made for a great Christmas Card each year.We would recommend Cedar Lake Tree Farm for any family looking for a great experience on a working farm. Our kids love it.
