The last time I played this course was in 2004 and even then it was sketchy.Back then it was called the 'City' course and managed by the city of Gastonia.Since then an independent management group has taken over.I met some friends for a 'tune-up' round in preparation for a charity tournament we're playing in.I called a week ahead to make the tee time and asked about their practice facilities. I was told they have a driving range, practice putting and chipping area. I drove from Fort Mill and got there an hourly early only to learn the range was shut down for 'over seeding'. There is no practice chipping area only a putting green. As I was entering the Pro Shop, I saw a sign that said 'Snack Bar'. Once I checked-in and got my cart key, I asked what time did the Snack Bar open. the lady said "oh, we don't have a snack bar". My response was " you got a snack bar sign, but no snack bar". She just stared at me.This course is ragged.I don't like the lay out, too many blind shots and poor sight lines. The greens and tee boxes were OK but the fairways were in bad shape and if you are out of bounds, you will lose your ball or be heavily penalized. There are creeks that criss cross the course with power lines above as well. There are some ponds but none that create difficulties for your shot.I was going to play 18 but after 9 holes, our group decided to stop play. The lady in our group was disappointed there were NO Red or forward tees, the gold or Senior tees are the most forward tees, sorry ladies, the City of Gastonia will receive your comments. The electric carts were in good condition and the ProShop was small with not very much gear for sale. They do sell beer and they have soda and snack food vending machines.I doubt I will return, just way too many other good options near where I live.

Great clean course! Great staff. Grounds were well kept. Only ONE bathroom on the entire course (clubhouse).Round wasn't packed or on top of each other so scheduling was good. Snack bar is vending machines. But they have a beer menu. Bring your phone chargers there are NO USB ports.Power lines are here and there but if you don't bug out your fine....just like the water or sand bunkers!!! For a city owned course this was awesome!Such a secret. Will play this course again!

Played Catawba Creek Golf Club today. The fairways & greens were in great shape. Only complaint was that there isn't any yardage markers or tee box signs. We accidentally started on #10 due to this. A simple white line on the cart path for 150 yards from the hole would be a big help.

Not a bad little municipal course. It's was in average shape when we played. But if you are realistic and realize what it is you should have fun.

This has got to be the worst golf course. I've ever step foot on makes me want to quit the sport. Does anyone know how to rate it 0 stars?

Nice course, well maintained, nice layout. The reason for the low rating is the golf carts with gps monitors. Difficult to understand the operation.

New geofencing technology on the carts is a hinderance to fast and enjoyable play. No signs or verbal acknowledgment that it had been put on the course. Just a beeping cart that tells you you can't be there. There being on the fairways, the rough or even the middle of the cart path. Carts shut down when you least expect and the beeping is a killer when you just want to relax. Do not approve of the Pavlov golf experience.

The course is ok, but needs authoratative marshalls to push slow groups! Played there yesterday and made the turn in 3 hours. A group of walkers were backing everybody up! Left after 9 holes and no rainchecks!Let walkers go out late in the afternoon!Management needs to wake up and do their job!

The carts are on a GPS, apparently if you get one tire off the path, it shuts off. The course itself is maintained ok but the holes are short and right on top of each other. Would recommend staying away, crowders is a little further but much nicer.
