This was our first visit. Ever was friendly and extremely accommodating. Our waiter took the time to answer our questions and explain the menu. We started out with the.PULPO A LA GALLEGAGrilled Spanish octopus, crispy potato, spicy aioli, extra virgin olive oil. This dish was well seasoned and tasty. Our only issue is the Octopus was some of the chewiest we've ever had. It usually almost melts in your mouth, but not this. Second we had the CANELONESCrepes stuffed with chicken and spinach, bechamel sauce, Manchego cheeseThe Crepes were nice and thin and the Chicken bety tender. The Bechamel Sauce was very tasty. The Crispy Manchego Cheese made for a great presentation. Finally we had theGAMBAS AL AJILLOSautéed shrimp, garlic olive oil, brandy, garlic chips, chile de arbol dust, toastThis best version of this dish we've ever had was in St Louis, until NOW! The Shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I should have asked for more bread to soak up the Garlic Olive Oil, Brandy and Garlic Chips. We'll definitely be back to try a few more Tapas.

I've always been curious about the hype, so in my quest for something new and flavorful, but not too far from our usual spots, I decided to give Catalú a try. Now, I honestly kick myself for not coming here sooner! We started with a couple of tapas, and the first to arrive was the Pulpo--absolutely superb, served on a layer of crispy papas bravas! Then came the Gambas al Ajillo, which was equally delicious and beautifully presented. I swear, just typing this is making my mouth water!Next up, my wife's all-time favorite dish--Paella. No matter where we go, she always orders it to compare, and let me tell you, Catalú did not disappoint. I don't want to upset our go-to spots, but I have to admit, the flavors took me straight to the heart of Barcelona, Spain. It was an unforgettable experience! Special thanks to Jesse our server and Erick one of the managers that was absolutely fantastic! You have convinced me to be a regular!

The BEST tapas!! While I enjoy the location/atmosphere of a nearby tapas spot slightly more, I found the menu options at Catalú superior. There were so many vegetarian options and each one I tried was fabulous (no misses!). The presentation of my cocktail was beautiful (frozen ice in the rose) and the flavors were great. The restaurant is eclectic and a bit moody at nighttime which I enjoy. Service was average/satisfactory. Normally they validate parking at the nearby garage, but it happened to be out of service this night which was a bummer. Planning to come back soon though, especially for the stuffed peppers!

LOVE!!! New favorite restaurant in charlotte. Went with friends for charlotte restaurant week, so glad we did! I am going to come back for my birthday next month, that's how much I loved it. Drinks were great. Cute presentation on the three we had at the table and all tasted great. We did not have a single thing we didn't like. Everything was so good! I love Barcelona wine bar, but now that I've tried Catalu, Catalu is much better.

Drinks were fantastic! I love that they actually have weekly specials that involve drinks. I had the old fashion and loved it - it's a little on the sweeter side but that's my preference. Our waiter was nice but I felt fumbled the menu just a little. I'm currently dairy free and found majority of the menu I couldn't have. I will be back to try more of the menu

First time here and I liked it. The food was good and so were the drinks. Wasn't the biggest fan of the paella as it was salty. The service was good, attentive and informative. The ambiance is a chill girls night out. They are pretty spacious so lots of seating options. You'll have to park in the parking garage though and they validate it for the first two hours. Don't get towed or get a ticket.

Went here for my girl's birthday dinner and it was the absolute best experience! There was not one dish that I did not like. The stuffed peppers were incredible. The shrimp dish and mussels I highly recommend. The oxtail dish was so tender and delicious. The ambiance was very sexy but casual and the drinks were great. Our server was Emmanuel and he did an amazing job. I will definitely be back!

We celebrated my husbands birthday at this restaurant and we were blown away! The food was phenomenal. We had a large group and ordered various tapas and their Catalu paella (which was 1/2 off because it's their offer on Sundays) and it was all absolutely delicious. Our server was wonderful and so attentive. The ambiance gave more of a lounge vibe and the music really added to the experience. We will absolutely be back!

We had such a great dinner at Catalú tonight! If you're looking for authentic Spanish cuisine in Southend, this is your spot. Our server, Courtney, was so friendly and kind, and the vibe of the restaurant is awesome - beautiful space with high ceilings and vibrant while not feeling overwhelmingly loud. The menu includes all the usual tapas suspects (a great selection of Spanish wines, charcuterie, calamari, croquetas, shishito peppers, patatas bravas, etc.) and weaves in a few unique options as well! We ordered a delicious Rioja and got a few cheeses and a meat to start (very small charcuterie portions, but super flavorful), then we went with a recommendation from the man sitting next to us to try the oxtail, which was served over mashed potatoes with a red wine reduction... have never had oxtail before and I am now hooked - that was incredible. Tasted like the best short rib I've ever had but better. We had the grilled asparagus over romesco sauce next (perfectly grilled and had delicious crispy bits of Manchego on top), followed by the calamari (lightly fried and refreshing with the lemon sauce) and the NY strip topped with crispy potatoes and a bleu cheese sauce which we asked for on the side (but ended up loving). And we couldn't resist ending with the chocolate olive oil cake, which was sandwiched around a rich cream cheese frosting, dusted with pistachios and had a tiny dollop of black olive caramel (had never tasted anything like it and it went so perfectly with the dessert). As you can tell by the length of my review, we loved this place. Perfect date night spot for anyone looking to share some delicious small plates and enjoy a fun vibe!

Great new spot on rail trail in South End! Specializing in Spanish tapas with a menu that should change with the seasons. The service and ambiance are worth 4 stars on their own! Such friendly people who care and know the menu extensively. The food was fantastic as well. Their patatas bravas are full of flavor while the pinchitos bring a great snap with some heat. Their charcuterie is also fantastic with great options to choose from. I do believe they validate parking, but I would double check.
