My kids go to Carolina Stars and absolutely love it. Both are level eight gymnasts, one boy and one girl. The gym is family owned which for us is perfect because it means the owners are approachable, accessible and always present. They clearly care about the sport and are focused on making the kids stronger athletes, but also care more holistically about character development, overcoming feelings of nervousness to attempt a new skill and more general team development and comradery. Coach Jay in particular has been an amazing influence on my children, and it says something to me as a parent when they both talk independently about how they can rely on him, not only to understand what their goals are in gymnastics, but how he is the first person they would trust outside the family with other important topics. I know being around him and learning from him on all fronts will be a core memory for them both. One more note on CS and gymnastics in general - I think there is a lot of pressure in seasons of a child's life to fit in at school, and at some point every kid feels like they come in short. It's been amazing for our children to have this sport and this v. inclusive/accepting facility to serve as a second and alternative place to build healthy relationships with other kids outside of their normal social/academic setting. I can see they are both more confident and more at peace with themselves physically and emotionally for it.

We are new to the gym and so far I have no problems with the teenagers teachers or facility. My daughter is enjoying and having fun.Thats what matter for us and we have no desires for her to be a professional gymnast. My only problem is : How can a sport facility that promotes gymnastics , exercise and health body can offer that kind of snacks for the kids?? That for me is absurd!!! I can only imagine is to make money but for me makes no sense at all. I see many kids eating MM''s, Pringle's, blue sugary beverage , coke and candy before and after school. I think even as an exemple and influence to the kids this shouldn't be allowed in a place like this. And how about instead lollipop before any holiday give something non sugary or junk foodRelated!? Perhaps is just my opinion but it's ridiculous to me. (They moved to 1080 Maxwell rd)

I'm not sure why this has no good reviews but I love it here! My daughter is a bit shy and had a hard time warming up. Mr. Brandon has guided her and gainer her trust. She is listening and learning at every class. A lot of times with toddlers classes you find around town they switch teachers and flip flop instructors, this is terrible when you have a shy child. Mr. Brandon and the staff here take their jobs seriously and are always present. The gym recently relocated to a building set back behind Smart Kids. The new gym is nice, clean and really big. The kids have a great little section with closed glass for the parents. They have a really large section for the older girls as well. We will definitely continue with classes here and help grow out daughters skills.

Took my daughter to open play and paid the $10 admission. My daughter was not interested in anything and we left after 5-10 minutes. They offered no refund or anything. Also, it didn't look fun and the equipment looked worn.

We love Carolina Stars, I was shocked to see the other reviews! My daughter has learned so much while we've been there and always comes out of class excited to tell me what she did in class that day. The coaches and office staff are always sowelcoming when we enter and leave! I've also seen sometimes during class other of the older more experienced coaches come over and help the younger coaches and makes me happy to see they aren't afraid to help and take suggestions from co-workers. Every business has it's faults but these teen coaches are doing a pretty good job from what i've seen! So speaking for all the other parents who love CSGA as much as I do, THANK YOU!

Long story short... Unqualified teenage instructors who don't know the first thing about how to teach children. Our daughter's teacher had a pick against her & my niece from day 1. The teacher looked like she didn't even want to be there every time I saw her. On my daughter's last day she got injured & to say that Carolina Stars is ill-equipped for injuries is an understatement. They had no children's pain meds & when my wife asked for an ice pack to take with her she was told that she couldn't and would have to stay in order to use their ice pack. As if at their rates they can't afford a $2.00 ice pack. I almost feel as if I should donate a box full of ice packs to the gym for future children who will most DEFINITELY need them. Oh I almost forgot... The Managment said that my crying daughter was laughing and hugging everyone as my wife had to carry her to the car in pain. What a disgrace.

My 3-year-old daughter has been attending for a few months now. I get off early every week to go watch because it makes her happy to see me there. The instructors changed over the last season change and one teenage instructor is in charge of a class of 3 and 4-year-olds. The instructor seems a bit rough on the children, but I thought it may just be because I am protective over my little girl. I missed last week and my wife called me and told me that she pulled her out early. Apparently all of the children were picking at the mat and the instructor made them stop. She made each child promise they wouldn't pick at the mat again. My daughter is very shy and would not respond with the whole class looking at her. The instructor made her sit out turns until she would apologize. She was put in the corner and terrified when my wife pulled her out of the class. My wife called the manager to talk about the issue. The manager spent the majority of the call making excuses for the instructor. My wife was then told that if we wanted to remove our daughter from the class it had to be done by tomorrow and must be a written request. Are you freaking kidding me? Your customer service is horrendous. We are currently waiting to hear back from the owner, but we will be switching gyms.
