Caribbean Island Cafe

The food was wonderful! We had curried chicken (large) w/rice and peas and a side of plantains. Very authentic and better than our local Caribbean in Florida. So good, and my wife and I ate like kings!

Asked for a side of Mac n Cheese and this what i got no taste just noodles n cheese Service n food quality needs to be better

The food was good. I got a large curry goat rice n peas cabbage and dumpling .. i couldn't complain. Thr portions were good and it was spicy like I like. They get a big up for the dumpling hard to find spots main em. They were good people, they try the cassava leaf. I didn't like those but my order was the bomb.. i could hv got a small, but I had enough left for dinner also! Ima go back. Oh, I even bought some habeno pepper sauce. But they make a hot sauce that will knock your socks off! No complaints!!!

Fantastic, authentic Caribbean food. I have to be honest- I was super surprised to find this place in Salisbury, I am really starting love Salisbury and the great food spots there.The food at Caribbean Island was great, hot, and delicious. The portions were large and perfectly seasoned. Some of the best Caribbean food that I have ever eaten. I will be stopping here every time I am in the area.

We decided to give this local spot a try and were pleasantly surprised. We decided to order while at the restaurant once it was our first time and the reviews were mixed. I ordered the Oxtail and Jerk Chicken combo with Rice and Peas and Cabbage. I also ordered a side of Mac and Cheese and a piece of Coco Bread to share. We had a little wait since we didn't order ahead but it's homemade and worth it. The food was hot, flavorful and plentiful.I do wish all employees were wearing a mask and gloves but at least the person who was customer facing did. All the customers I saw were wearing masks. They also had the back door open so there was more ventilation I guess. We would definitely order here again.

I took my tropical tour to Salisbury today and the Caribbean Island Cafe.They allow mixed plates, which is nice, so I ordered curry chicken and jerk chicken along with rice and collards.Chicken: both the curry and the jerk were good, not great--just good. Neither was spicy enough. The chicken was chopped in the authentic Jamaican way and was moist. I really don't like the word moist, but there it is. As I said, it was good, but it didn't blow me away.Rice: I opted for yellow and, again, it was just okay--not seasoned enough. I'm going to throw out a comparison here: Colombian Cravings in Burlington blows this out of the water--they have some of the best yellow rice I've ever had.Collards: these were nicely seasoned and very good.So if you're in Salisbury craving some island food, CIC may satisfy it. But just barely. I would strongly suggest you head on up to Greensboro to Paradise West Indian American Restaurant where you can find truly outstanding Jamaican food, especially the jerk chicken. I must admit I was hesitant after reading the reviews... but I am so glad we decided to try! Those that have good experiences more than likely rarely leave a review! I hope that changes. This food was great! I had the small oxtail meal with rice, peas, and cabbage! Flavor was good! I really enjoyed my food! The oxtails were meaty.. well seasoned and tender.. the rice, peas and cabbage... same... very well seasoned and flavorful! Everyone was pleasant! I loved the fact that everyone seemed.. 'happy'... singing... enjoying life...! The only reason I didn't give all 5 stars is because they allowed people to come in without a mask on and a few in the kitchen didn't have a mask on! That's a big deal to me these days. But as far as the food... I have eaten a decent number of Jamaican restaurants... this one is worth it!

Ricardo came into my job (which sells restaurant equipment). He was extremely rude and dismissive. I have been wanting Caribbean food since relocating to NC. I will make my own and save my money. People in the South are supposed to be nicer. If his treatment of me is any indication of how he does business, I rather spend my money elsewhere - as well as recommend another business.

I been craving Caribbean/West Indian food since I moved down here from up North. I had high expectations and was let down.

The food was TERRIBLE. The oxtail was tough and had little to no flavor. They barely gave any rice and peas but gave a boatload of unwanted mashed potatoes. This is not Caribbean! Anybody looking to come into this establishment, please do yourself a favor and Run. I will not be returning and I will not recommend this to my worst enemy.
