Being from NY, it's a struggle to find GOOD, tasty authentic Jamaican food in Charlotte (no offense). Can not even put into words how surprised I was that the food was soooo good. GOAT was tender and I added a likkle pepper sauce to turn up the flavor even more. Fire !!!I should have gotten white rice but whatever the rice and peas was still good. Plantain were perfect and sweet. No hard. Not over ripe. Fried nice. The only thing I can say as a critique is to have some more D&G soda flavors. Cream soda and kola are my go to!The cook came out and watched me take my first taste. He was kind as well as all the other staff (IYKYK...attitude be wild at some West Indian spots lmao). Overall I was very pleased with the food and the folks!

I've been to the Woodlawn location several times. I recently went for lunch, and despite there being only two other people in the restaurant, no one came out to take our order, we ended having to order at the counter. The cabbage was good, the rice and peas were good... Portions were good... The jerk chicken was good... however, I got the large, and only had five pieces of chicken that were mostly bone.. maybe about the total meat of a single medium chicken thigh. My friend got the small plate, and had just about as much food as I did. It's not like chicken is exceptionally expensive.

Everything was tasty and delicious! It was my first time trying jerk chicken and I enjoyed its spicy barbecue-ish flavor. I loved the sautéed onions on the side, It was a nice contrasting flavor. I Door Dash it twice during my stay in Charlotte because it is close to the Home2Suites I stayed at. Delivery was crazy fast and the food was nice and hot.

Had a conversation with the owners on which part of Jamaica they were from. Food was good and priced great for the product and portion you receive. Did not try to charge for extra sauces - very polite people.

Best lunch few in the city! Check out what $7.75 gets you during lunch hours!!! Jerk Chicken, cabbage, and rice & peas!!!! Yummy!

This was honestly the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and here's why:I showed up at the place around 8:45pm. Two women were chatting at the counter. The cashier didn't bother to say hi or look at me to acknowledge my presence. Knowing it was late, I figured I'd ask, "Do you still have the oxtail and curry goat combo?" The cashier completely ignored me. I then asked, "Is that a yes or no?" The other woman glanced at me and said, "She's helping me." while shaking her head. That's when I realized she was a customer. So I said, "Oh, sorry." and to the cashier "A simple greeting would have been nice."The customer rolled her eyes at me, and the cashier shot me a dirty look.When I finally got to place my order, the cashier muttered something about rice, beans, and peas. I couldn't catch it, so I just said, "Sure." But she asked again, and I still couldn't get what she was saying. So I just said with rice and beans.When it was time to pay, she mumbled, "Cash or charge?" I had my card in hand, so I showed it and said, "Charge."Then she goes, "Cash or card?" with this annoyed look.The customer woman then rolled her eyes again while shaking her head.At that point, I felt so disrespected that I couldn't help but snap at the cashier, "Do you have a problem with me? Fuck this." and I walked out. I would never come back here and will never recommend this place to anyone.I have been told that people around this area are rude but this is epic!

Walked in a on Saturday evening and the lady was too busy speaking with a patron to give us standing in line any attention. The digital menu elves too quickly for me to decide so I interrupted their conversation and asked for a menu to hold in my hand. She finally asked the guy behind me, who was obviously a first timer, how she could help, and proceeded to clown him in patois to the guys sitting around. Really, you clown a guy who spends his hard earned money is your establishment???? All I needed to know to walk out. Strike 2 - No support from me.

I came back to visit this past weekend and my review remains the same. My only con about is the plantains are always on the dry side and not sweet at all. Not a deal breaker but I would ask to either have them on the side or not add them. Aside from everything else was super hot and the pineapple ginger drink was refreshing

With prices going up for food in many restaurant locations, it's nice to see some places still staying the same. You honestly can't beat a lunch special for 6.99. They had the option of curry chicken or jerk for todays lunch options. There is an upcharge for Mac instead of cabbage but I was okay with it. The portion sizes especially for a small were plenty. While the jerk chicken was good, I found the sauce to be a little more on the sweeter bbq side than jerk side. Then the Mac had a nice layer of bake chrese on top. However once you got to the core, it was a let down giving me Krafts Mac and cheese vibes. But overall, the plate was great especially for a lunch special. I just know next time to stick with the cabbage instead. Clean location and great customer service as well. Would definitely return again!

The bar attended left us to attend to walk in took about 10 minutes for someone else to approach us. Phone rings and we are still waiting. We order food came out and it was cold when I say cold it was cold. The put my plate in the microwave - the person that brought out the reheated microwave dish asked how was it.....should be fine since just microwave my plate. They offered no disconnect so it feels they expect people to pay for cold food and to get paid. I will never go back and to others be aware... they are just trying to get paid on the back of hard working people that look like them
