It's a beautiful old relic of the past. However, once inside the old bridge it's covered with graffiti. It's sad to see such disrespect on an incredible structure & blast from the past. I wish that the city would keep up with maintaining its beauty and cleaning that horrible mess on the structure.

super cute and small little park all centered around the bridge! I probably wouldn't go an hour out of my way to come, but if you are passing through, it's pretty neat. Make sure your kids wear clothes they can get wet! The little river under the bridge is unique with lots of smooth rock. FYI, it only gets mid calf deep, so it's not really a swimming hole.

The only remaining covered bridge in the State of South Carolina, this 38 foot long pine structure spans Beaverdam Creek. The bridge and the area around it is part of a passive park owned by Greenville County. It was built in 1909 by Charles Irwin Willis (1878-1966) and is a four-span Howe truss, featuring diagonal timbers and vertical iron rods. It is named for Alexander Lafayette Campbell (1836-1920) who owned and operated a grist mill here. The foundations of the mill and home site are still here to be explored.Ample parking and several picnic tables in the shade make this into a great stop for lunch. When the water isn't running to quickly, there's nothing wrong with dipping your feet into the creek to cool off. There are several signs about so that you can learn about the area.[Review 14940 overall, 442 of 2021, number 811 in South Carolina.]

Though I've heard or seen photos of this Campbell's Covered Bridge, I had never visited this place before. It's part of Greenville County Rec. It's on the north end of Greer and is an ideal place to unplug from electronics, especially during this COVID-19 time with being on Zoom calls all-the-time. There's a gravel parking lot that you can immediately start on a 1/2 mile loop trail that takes you into the woods. On this hot, bright summer day, entering the canopy of trees allowed me to enjoy it's shade and feel the slight breeze, hear the chirping of birds and my own steps. The trail periodically brings you out into the open expanse, and if you need a break, there are benches to sit on.Following the trail, the sounds of water welcomes even more tranquility. I was the only one on this trail yet there were plenty of families in the water near the bridge. Sounds of laughter and screams from occasional slips most likely. There are benches along one side's upper bank and I chose to retrieve my packed snack of chilled cut-up watermelon and enjoy reading the Good Book and eating on one bench. Summer refreshing!I saw couples, both young and old walking or with their dog from the other side of Covered Bridge Road. I didn't go in that direction but good to know for future visit. One thing to note, there are no restrooms so plan accordingly, especially if you come with kids or have a tiny bladder like me.It's nothing fancy but the history behind this very last covered bridge and the fact the bridge shields the summer sunlight to the people below, a nice trail which has some seats periodically, free parking are reasons to visit. You can return for each season and take a photo with the iconic background.

What to say about this? It's an old bridge... Is someone getting paid for this? Pros: it's a bridge. It hasn't burned down. Cons: it's just an old bridge. But seriously, this part of America is precious and wonderful. I wouldn't trade this bridge for the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Golden Gate Bridge.

I have been coming to Campbell's Covered Bridge since I was tiny! Lovely spot for a stroll, exploring, and photography/videography. I would be smart about when to visit however, it can get very crowded at times. I would suggest going on a weekday if you are planning to do pictures/proposals. It is an easy walk down to the bridge from the parking lot on the hill.

It's a lovely little side trip and a bit of history. You can't drive on or near the bridge, but for a little foray into local history, it's nice. We did the short 1/2 mile hike as well. One section of the hike had a steep incline, but I still found it easy to navigate in my sandals. Beautiful area, I know a photographer who took some family photos there. I could see having a picnic lunch there.
