Cake Me Away Bakery

Cake Me Away Bakery in Dallas, NC has CONSISTENTLY and EXCELLENTLY helped bring so many of my cake drawings to life. They translate paper to real life cake art like the experts they are. Everyone there communicates well and goes ABOVE and BEYOND for every single cake. I have used them for birthdays for a few years, but they absolutely stunned me with our wedding cake. They are absolutely amazing and skilled. I could not recommend them more.

Cake Me Away makes an exceptional base cupcake. It's buttery and not too crumbly. The different icing toppings are all excellent. I love the $2 Saturday cupcakes. They make great cookies, bars, cheesecakes and other desserts too. And while we haven't tried their specialty cakes, the pictures show impressive creations!

Let me start with how the last two weeks have unfolded. Last Tuesday (a little more than a week at the time of writing), I sent in a request form for a custom cake via email and got a response almost immediately. The following week I called to follow up and was able to talk to the owner of the bakery who said she had been sick for a few days and she would have a quote to me same day or early the next morning.... 3 days later and 1 day before the event she texted me saying she could still fulfill my order but I let her know I had moved on and had gotten our treats at another bakery in Charlotte. She apologized and said they had just changed management. My only concern with that was the fact that the same number I used to call the owner was the same number that texted me... so is this just another excuse to keep doing bad business or did she genuinely replace management? I guess I'll never know as I won't be returning. Please let this story be a warning to those who have an important event ahead and need a good bakery. THIS IS NOT IT!!!

Prices are high for the cupcakes and cheesecake, but i would say that they are worth it. stopped by today to get a keto cheesecake and it was delicious.

I arrive to pick up my cake and it actually took quite a while for it to be ready... I could see them scurrying in the back throwing it together. I thought it would be ready when I got there. I overlooked the long wait time and when they gave me my cake, which wasn't a huge cake and had no topper, they didn't even have a box that it could fit into properly. For the amount that the simple cake costs, I would think that I would get a box that at least closes all the way. I won't be using this bakery again, they used to be great but it seems like things have changed...simply not pleased.

I was really hopeful about this place. I wanted it to be very good and a place where we could pick up delicious pastry to go with coffee or great desserts to serve when we had company. It hasn't turned out that way.

I placed an order through Cake Me Away for my best friend's baby shower, and unfortunately, my experience was far from professional.On the day of the shower, I arranged for a mutual friend (who knows both me and the baker/owner) to pick up the cake and cupcakes. When she arrived, the cake was not yet finished, and she had to wait while the baker rushed to complete the fondant work. Despite placing the order a month in advance, the baker appeared unprepared. After hurriedly finishing, she loaded the cake into my friend's car, and it was brought to the event.When I opened the box, I immediately noticed the rushed craftsmanship. Both the cake and the cupcakes had lumpy fondant. The biggest disappointment, however, was with the fondant decoration. I had specifically requested a hotdog design, but instead, I received something that resembled a thumb (or worse). I promptly sent a photo to the baker, pointing out the mistake, but instead of addressing it, she tried to shift the blame onto me. Although our previous conversations clearly specified a hotdog, she chose to interpret it differently without consulting me.When I expressed my dissatisfaction and her lack of accountability, she continued to deflect and even used religious references to dismiss my concerns, which felt inappropriate in this context.Overall, if a baker is hired to do a design, they do the design. They do not make decisions on their own. I think she was just rushing and didn't put a bun on and thought it'd be fine, but it wasn't. And no accountability either.

Only two times I ever got anything from this bakery it was very dry. They have a lot of flavors to choose from but to me that doesn't matter if it's too dry

I wanted to get my baby shower cake done here because I've enjoyed there cupcakes I emailed her 4 times with details then I went there to test the flavors just to make sure that's what I wanted i talked to the girl that works there she wrote down all my information again and said it could be done when I wanted it then I called her 2 times and she had let me know she wasn't feeling well which is completely fine but now I'm 4 days away from my baby shower with no response not an email or call if they weren't up to it I could've gotten it from somebody else but the olds of someone else doing the cake I wanted originally now 4 days before the baby shower are very slim and this is my first baby and maybe the only baby I'll have and this part is ruined for me it was hard enough working nights to find the time to go by there with there hours and now 2 days before I needed this done I got a text from the girl saying they had a change In management but if there just getting back to me now after weeks of trying to get this done I don't believe they could do what I wanted or even deliver on time this has been the most frustrating thing to deal with my entire planing of my baby shower when it should've been one of the easiest

If you want an amazing wedding cake and a bakery that will back the bride no matter what, look no further. First of all, the cake was beyond amazing. Not only did it taste incredibly good, but it looked perfect! Thank you for providing the perfect dessert for my step son's wedding day. We cannot thank you enough.
