This was my first visit to Cafe South in Charlotte. The restaurant looks like it was an old Bob Evan's. I liked the country vibes. I ordered the Hobo breakfast and a biscuit. The gravy and overall flavors were delicious! The hash browns were a little overcooked and there was a bit of egg shell in my eggs. I would still recommend the Hobo breakfast though simply because of the gravy. So good!Our server was really nice and always made sure we had plenty of drinks. Overall great experience.

Good southern breakfast! My husband and I got the Hobo Breakfast. The gravy was amazing and the biscuit was so fluffy! However, the hash browns were sub par. They were kind of chewy, and I would not get them again. The dish also appeared to have a slice of Kraft American Cheese on it, which wasn't what I would have chosen. The chocolate chip pancakes (our friend ordered that) were delicious!! Our server was so nice! It also kinda felt like you were in a southern restaurant in the 1990s, but it was clean!

Every time I come to Charlotte I have to stop at Cafe South. This time I had breakfast. The bacon was crispy and my eggs were exactly how I ordered them. My only complaint is that my grits were a little runny. The service is always wonderful which is a part of the reason I keep coming back.

It's amazing how one person can ruin an experience. Came on day 1 and rolled in. Service was fine. Food was average but did its purpose. Day 2 came in with another group but this time the receptionist refused to seat us until everyone in a large party was present. We are in a group at the surrounding hotel so there is always going to be one straggler. But can't sit. Can't get coffee until everyone is present. It would be one thing if the place was as busy but there are open tables everywhere.

I ordered takeout from Cafe South while I was on the go. Accidentally ordered a Country 'Style' Steak instead of a Country 'Fried' Steak, but was pleasantly surprised by the bed of fresh steamed rice that my steak sat on top when I opened the container.The cube steak was perfectly cooked and the gravy complimented everything. The mash potatoes and mac n cheese filled me up to the brim and the cornbread finished me off.Placing a phone order was quick and easy, and my food was waiting for me on arrival 10 minutes later. The photo doesn't lie, I devoured this meal in the comfort of my own car, I hope no one was watching because it was gone in a minute.
