Sandra C. "This taproom is holding its own! On Saturday, 1/16/21, this family owned and operated pub will celebrate its one year anniversary. Congratulations! Brushy Mountain Brews is a craft brew lover's paradise because they frequently rotate locally and regionally crafted beers and hard ciders and to put the proverbial "icing on the cake", they frequently host different food trucks and offer live music, too! Personally, for me, it doesn't get any better than this! Brushy Mountain Brews is located at 42 W Main Avenue in Taylorsville, right in the heart of downtown and it is housed in one of the most historic buildings. The building was formerly one of the original Smithey's Department Stores and dates back to the early 1930s. Smithey's was one of the first and largest department stores in Taylorsville. The owners kept the original retro characteristics of the building by showcasing its stamped steel ceiling tiles and hardwood floorings. It's a pretty amazing place to grab a craft brew, eat specialty food from the hosted food truck and hear some tunes from a live band! Once COVID19 lessens you might even get to experience a Yoga Class again! This is another one of those places that offers experiences that are hard to put a price tag on! Come and enjoy the Brushy Mountain Brews experience soon! By doing so, you're supporting a small business, the local community and economy, as well as, the other craft brewers and musicians from our region and state. This is money well spent and something you can take pride in! I know, I do! Cheers my friends!"

They have really great wine to chose from and you're right in South End which is within walking distance from so many places! This is a great spot to support a local black-owned business and drink a yummy glass of wine! They have live music and other events from time to time too!"

Meena P. "Love love love this place! The minute you walk in the decor is amazing and chic. Wasn't expecting that. I was expecting more of a brewery vibe. This is a really nice wine bar but they have a full bar too. They do flights, bottles, brews and cocktails. They have a great food menu too. We came to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday afternoon. Seating inside is great booths and tables and then the bar. They also have a room for rental for parties /showers. We got seated straight away without a reservation but we got there when it opened. Ordered a nice bottle of bubbly. For our birthday girl. Which was served in great coupe glasses . We ordered the ahi tuna au poivre large plate to share with, had some olives and roasted red peppers and chili oil and balsamic reduction. Tuna was peppercorn and coriander crusted and cooked beautifully. Nice thick steak type pieces. Loved this dish. Also shared the funghi pizza. Lively thin crust and cheesy and lots of different mushrooms. Yum. They gave us in the house a nice skillet cookie with ice cream for the birthday girl. Which was really nice. Served hot and with ice cream this went down well! Service was amazing and I just really loved the vibe. Great bar without being too loud. Great food and drinks! Really great staff too. Plus in charlotte to find free parking was awesome ! This place has a parking lot! I can't wait to go back to Flight! !"

While I've never really dined downstairs in the restaurant, the upstairs bar is such a vibe that we always end up there instead. The space is super cute, whether you're grabbing a spot at the bar or lounging in the seating area.On busier nights, especially if you're with a group of four or more, I'd recommend making a reservation--it can fill up quickly! Yes, it's on the pricier side, but I usually come here for the cocktails and the ambiance, and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a chic spot to enjoy great drinks, light bites, and an elevated atmosphere, BAKU is the place to be. Ashley S. "Went on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but not crazy (we didn't have to wait for table), so food and drinks both came out quickly. We had a salad and a few pizzas and everything was great. The pickle pizza was a surprise hit. Crust is great. Cocktails were also really good. I don't remember the name, but there's a spicy mezcal drink that is legit spicy, which is rare, but it was really good. You order food from a QR code menu on your phone, which I'm a fan of since you don't have to wait for a server. The group we were with had been before and said the last time they were able to order drinks through the QR code, but this time we had to go up to the bar to get drinks. Not sure if that changes at a certain time of the night or if they just changed how they do things, but that was probably my only minor negative I'd say about the place."

Even tho it was busy, service was great. We never had to ask for refills and waitress was super attentive. After seeing so many reviews saying to try the PB&J Burger we couldn't resist - and SO glad we didn't!!! We JUST left and are already talking about wanting to go back. This burger sounds like a bad idea, but no. It was incredible. The jam was amazing. Just trust all the reviews and try it. We did go medium well 'cause a lot of reviews mention the burger being pink, but it was still super juicy and perfect. We also had the pretzel for an appetizer and again - totally blown away. So crisp and good. It came with queso, but we didn't even need it the pretzel was so delicious. I had the fish and chips which were great as well, crunchy and delicious. Just all so good.It IS a sports bar, but the tvs aren't loud or obtrusive. We could hear each other well. All in all a great experience! We will definitely be back 'cause I'm gonna crave that pretzel and he's going to want that burger!"

LaDeanne D. "I debated giving 3 vs 4 stars for this review. Pay attention to the reviews mentioning how LOUD it is inside. I love the interior BUT I felt like I was at a nightclub rather than a restaurant. We were only there for 45 minutes and were more than ready to get our check. There is a fine line with having the music loud enough to feel festive/lively versus making you feel like you should be on the dance floor instead of eating. IMO Barcelona crossed the line to dance club. I'm putting this first because it really (negatively) impacts the experience. The food was really good. We went for restaurant week but when we saw how limited the menu was for that and that ice cream was the dessert, we ordered off the regular menu. We had the olives and giardiniera, potato tortilla, broccolini, meat paella and cheesecake (to go). Drink choices were the red sangria and some non alcoholic beer. We had to ask for bread twice but it's restaurant week and they were slammed. We were glad that they still had some because it was delicious! We each had different favorites. I felt the paella was too greasy but it was my husband's favorite. It comes with a sauce but I didn't see the need for the sauce. My favorites were the broccolini, cheesecake and THE SANGRIA!!! The sangria was the best I've had...not sweet!! Love love love. The cheesecake won me over. My first thought was how tiny of a slice it was and that I would not order it again BUT then I tasted it and I will be ordering it again! Note that my husband found the spice level too much for the giardiniera . If you are a spice wimp, skip it. I loved it! It was fresh tasting and for non olive lovers, the other items in it don't taste like olives so you can still enjoy it.We parked in the garage across the street and it cost $10. We will be back for the amazing cocktails and food but only when we can sit outside at the patios. The blaring techno music wasn't the vibe we were looking for at dinner."

Stopped by for a sandwich at the end of the day (maybe that is the reason for poor quality), ordering a Club Sub, no cheese. I had high hopes, but they were soon dashed. The turkey was gray and the ham was dried out. I've eaten a lot of turkey (including some a few hours ago from a neighboring Sandwich Club), but I've never seen they let this shade of gray. Both had that sour smell of cold cuts that sat outside for too long. I tossed all of the meat rather than risk eating it. The bacon and tomato jam were mysteriously missing. How do you have a club without bacon? They did include a few tomato slices. The herb mayo tasted an awful lot like Miracle Whip to me. I asked if could replace the cheddar and Swiss (I hate Swiss) with mozzarella. The mozzarella wasn't bad, but they added Swiss too (it joined its meat cousins in the trash.)Thankfully I grabbed a bag of chips and a $4 cookie to tide me over for the night. So $21 for a cookie, bag of chips, two slices of bread that were falling apart, two slices of tomato, a chunk of mozzarella and some Miracle Whip. Never again."

Brad B. "This place is literally a hole in the wall. You won't see it from the road and you likely will walk right by if your yapping away and not paying attention. It's such a small place: probably 8 feet wide. It's so thin you could lie down on the floor, stretch your arms out and touch both walls. Now it's a very deep place. You feel like your walking through the Wardrobe heading to Narnia as you pass through rack after rack of beers until you finally emerge in the bar area. I was beyond amazed at how they have been so efficient at packing so much good stuff into such a tiny place. Their selection of beers to go is exceptional for Rock Hill. Their bar area is also exceptional. The bar is way in the back. It's a tight squeeze but when you get there they have one picnic table and chairs as well as 8 or so stools at the bar. You're so close to the bartender you can almost reach out and pour your own pints. And speaking of, they have 12 great beers on tap. They also fill growlers. We had a drink or three and rapped about the area with Kendra, the bartender. She was an encyclopedia of info about beer. If you're weak on your taste preferences you should look her up. She also took our pic and put it on the Legends of Beer Wall. Great touch.5 for service, 5 for selection, and 5 for beer. The pizzas are personal size and cooked "St. Louis style" which I guess means thin crust. The crust was thin but not crispy and had a chew to it that I really enjoyed. The flavors were spectacular on top of the pizza. From the sauce to the meats to the cheeses, everything tasted curated. The desserts were spot on and oh, so good. After asking a couple of questions found out they do not serve food so animals are allowed. Thinking this over it dawned on me I could take Vino for a walk here. Frank C. "Okay, this a great place to socialize and sip on some nice wines. Covid did slow things down a bit, but they are gearing back up according to the owner, and will be having their wonderful tasting events as well an many others events soon. They have a good selection of wines, and try to keep a balance between some of the finer selections and some more modestly priced wines. Fo someone like myself, who worked in the wine world for years in both Sonoma and Napa, I can tell you there is a wine here for everyone. Folks around these parts may prefer sweeter and often less complex wines and this shop tries to keep wines that appeal to those taste buds. But if your liking is a big bold Cabernet with tannins they got them too. And their wines from other parts of the world are fun to dive intones well. The other thing I can attest to is that they go out of their way to give great deals on even the expensive bottles. It's a difficult business, trust me, and if the spendy stuff doesn't move it wont keep the lights on and they seem well aware of this and accommodate their patrons wallets as well as tastes. But best of all they are extremely helpful and downright delightful to be around. When you visit here you will never feel like you are in a store...but more like you are in somebodies home who happens to sell wine! Oh and I almost forgot, we just joined their wine club. Yes, they have that too and events for members. Bottom line, if you want great wines, a friendly place to make new friends and you don't want to feel like your credit card just caught fire....this is the place."
