"The inside is actually smaller than what I thought it was gonna be. The videos online don't do justice. I have no idea if they had food there. $10 for a beer is weird and $16 for a mixed drink is high too. I don't know if it's like that at every nightclub but this was my first time going to a nightclub other than coyote joes and they only charge about $6 or $7 for a beer. The service was good. The ambiance was good too. Super loud though. Some people brought earplugs to protect their ears and I understand why. My hearing was muted by the time we left. And it was so unbelievably crowded. I'm surprised that many people were allowed in there. The only area that was kept clear was the walkways to the vip areas and the two doors behind the stage. We got pushed and shoved SO many times. Like I said before, I don't know how that many people were allowed in. Plus, the night we went (01/25/25) we had to buy tickets. There were only two lines outside. One for the people on the guest list and one for the people who had tickets and didn't have already have tickets. They need a better system for the ones that already paid for there tickets ahead of time because the line out the door is a bit ridiculous especially for the people that already paid for tickets ahead of time. Also, wear whatever the heck you want. There's literally no dress code other than what's posted on their website. If you wanna wear ugg boots here, do it. If you wanna wear a lousy t-shirt with joggers, do it. If you wanna go all out and wear the typical mini dress with high heels, go for it. (Your feet are gonna hate you by the time you leave though)"
"Second time at this club...The ambiance and the crowd was cool. Beautifully decorated club with a lot of potential!!! Drinks were good and my group enjoined themselves!!!"
"Haven't been here for more than 10 years. Just went there for a Tuesday night of dance and drink. The place is the same, full of Latin music for salsa, bachata and merengue. The hours was from 9 pm to 2 am as adv. There's a $10 admission fee. Drinks were reasonable. My friends said beer was $4 while I had special cocktails for $6. Bar tender James adjusted the alcohol level for me since I said I just need a little favor only. I did have a couple of drinks and a soda for other friends. My bill looked very affordable. At around 9:45 pm, a couple of professional dancer Wendy & Rodrigo arrived. They gave a free dancing class to everyone there. We all have fun.Was told that they just reopened after this pandemic. They would have snacks. Remember this place used to be packed with people. Full of music and fun. For sure I'll come again. The only downside of the area is parking. If you can't find a free street parking, there're parkings around for about $10."
"This bar is next to Sidelines and has a great patio. Pretty chill till 10pm the. The music gets turned up and everybody shows up."
"I liked the vibe and rooftop access. Bar service was great and my drink was perfect! It was definitely a quick trip since I was on my way to the Festival but would definitely stop back again when I'm in town. Security at the front made it a lot of fun too, I enjoyed talking with them and they made me laugh a lot."
"I've been coming here for awhile it has become my go to spot when I visit the Queen City, from the staff to the owners, they never disappoint. If you are looking for a lounge with good music, and Great food this is the place. All of the food is great but I can say that the wings are by far my favorite they are a must on every visit. Every Friday they have amazing lunch specials so be sure to check them out at lunch time. And if you are ever looking for a place for an event or go celebrate the VIP section and staff will take very good care of you I've personally seen them in action."
"If you like to meet nice people and like to dance,Go there.I have made several friends that are there for you thru Good and Bad.Laughter all night long and charge is very reasonable. The bands are good and play several hours."
"This year was the second year I went out for NYE. I am more of a house party or PJs kind of celebrator but this year I had some friends in town so I wanted to show off the Queen City. I could not have found a better a better event than Rich and Bennett's NYE Bash at Southside. We decided to split an all-inclusive VIP table even though I was wary. The term VIP is bantered around for pretty much every event and I am usually disappointed with the results (hidden restrictions, time limits or inability to get service being the most common all inclusive pitfalls). Southside delivered in incredible fashion. Our package included entry to two other bars that we only briefly visited because they did not even come near the service level of Southside. When my group arrived Bennett greeted us personally and escorted us to our table which was waiting with the promised 2 bottles of liquor. Our waitress was already mixing for the earlier group arrivals and promptly got our drinks prepared. Later in the night, no matter how obscure, any shot or drink requested was provided quickly. Just before midnight our group of 8 was presented with 3 bottles of champagne and actual glass champagne flutes. The end of the night we were given snack bags to take home. I will definitely return to experience a regular night at Southside and this event and venue are at the top of my list for NYE again."
"No food was available at the venueService of security was quick and simple. Have pockets emptied and tickets ready before entering for a breeze check in. Quick service at the bar was pleasant as well. Pretty large venue for a "small venue." Had a great time seeing the artist we was there for. Sound through out the place was great! Bathrooms were clean and multiple stalls were provided"

This is a so-so place. Nice decor and ambiance but some of the worst bar tenders. As a woman who always tips - I expect my drink good with a smile and a receipt. I understand it gets busy. But if you have a tab ($20 min w card) I shouldn't have to sit and wait after receiving my drink for you to help more people before closing my tab. Make my drink, give me a receipt and then move on. Why is that difficult? I shouldn't have to wait for you to serve more people while I stand at the bar- drink in towe --just for my card back. I worked in a club in NY and id never do that to a customer.

Nothing bad really to say here expect it was hot as hell and I had to pay a $10 cover charge when I arrive to the club upon opening. Get your Meg knees ready to walk up some stairs before you get into the club and when you make it to the top , there is coat check. The atmosphere was super cute and picture worthy for you and your girls. Djs we're on point on both sides of the club and I really appreciate the combination of music. A little bit of hip hop, Latin music, and throwbacks. Dance floors were packed but they have an outdoor patio you can view the city lights and cool off.

Second gay-oriented establishment I visited tonight. It calls itself a video bar, but there's no videos playing other than the name of the DJ. Drinks were great and so were the bartenders. With what little gay nightlife there is, i want to love it and the music was cool but no one was dancing.

It was a good vibe. The DJ was very entertaining and played good music. The service was good. The bartenders made decent drinks. Did not get a chance to taste the food unfortunately. But it was an overall a good time.

Came on July 4th Thursday, Curtis was super friendly and told us about the weekly specials. We ordered the 25 wings and onion rings. Onion rings were a little to fried. But the wings were as good as everyone else has said. Extra crispy, with dry rub lemon pepper & the "special" Baby red sauce, honey hot with Parmesan cheese. They have two pool tables. And Karaoke on Thursday nights after 9 PM, we left before that started. Later it definitely becomes more of an night club vibe. And be prepared to give your license upon ordering. They also have good lunch specials.

I LOVE Southside!!! From CIAA to New Years there's no better place to enjoy a night with you friends. They always have the most talented DJ's playing the most cutting edge and trending music. Southside also has the only dance floor on Montford which makes it an easy winner for weekend partying. The staff is always welcoming, courteous, and often go out of their way to make sure your night is memorable. The bartenders are easily the best in the Southeast and the main reason my friends and I show up every weekend. I mean seriously... the most gorgeous women in Charlotte serving up expertly made craft cocktails, how could anyone resist? The place is also a magnet for Charlotte's "who's who", I have seen musicians, athletes, actors, etc... in the exclusive VIP section. I can't imagine a better lounge in Charlotte and I highly recommend everyone head to Southside tonight :)

"Nina's one of a kind, fast and easy, to talk to Great dive bar with trivia, pool tables and live music. It's a group of regulars that are always there and willing to help out any way they can."
"If I could give this place a negative star review I would. REFUSED ACCESS TO A SERVICE DOG WHICH IS ILLEGAL!!!! Then security( Dakota Cole) used different excuses such as him being in a lawsuit and being afraid of the service dog biting not to let her in. Which is extremely ILLEGAL and unprofessional. Even the other security guards were telling him he can't refuse access. DAKOTA COLE also tried to side hustle my friends and I by charging extra for the shoes I was wearing even though there is no dress code on their website. I am extremely upset and will not be attempting to go there again."
"Excellent exhibit of British Graffiti artist, Banksy. The art of Banksy, showcased some of his most popular and some work I had not seen before. So interesting , thought provoking, some if it just made sense, the artwork, some kinda crazy, some cool, some actually hard to look at, some funny. Banksy definitely liked to spark conversation through his work. He is still a mystery , no one knows who he is. Some of his pieces are amazing. Definitely worth a stroll around, took about an hour and a half to see it all. Cool little gift area at the end. Tickets cheaper online !"
"It's so very much past time for an update on the Serj yelp page. Everytime I visit I am impressed with the changes they have made since the time the venue was L4. This little bar has brought in a fabulous cast of DJs, even a non edm person like myself might recognize. Even more amazing is the setting in which these people perform - right next to the crowd. I was so excited personally to to watch Darude play a set only a couple feet from my face but also to snag a picture with him after, which is a common occurrence at Serj (many DJs stay after for a few pictures). They are also an outstanding venue that attacts a diverse and accepting crowd. For Charlotte this is truly a gem."
"The worse club I have ever been too... I never pay for a club, but here it was a 10 dollar cover. The music was terrible, the drinks were just ok, and the music was aweful. Next time I'm in Charlotte we will not be hitting this place up..."
"Went to this lounge for an event (founders day for the Omega Psi phi fraternity inc) and I would definitely go back. The staff were great and the drinks were mixed perfectly. This lounge also has hookah. I will add that I wasn't clear on the drink price. I had a shot of Hennessy as well as Hennessy and coke and I was charged $27. I think they may add in an auto gratuity (I didn't pay attention) but it was worth the money because that's all I needed! I would go back for another event."
"So this is a great old school spot. It's free before 11. And Not like your typical free before a certain time and it's empty...this place was packed before 11. It opened at 9. The music is WONDERFUL. You literally can dance all night. The DJ is so good. The bar is fully stocked and it's not expensive. Only downfall is there's no food but it's a club not a lounge so I guess that's why. They have ample VIP sections. But if you're looking for an upscale 35 and up club this isn't it. This is a down home...a little better than a hole in the wall...good old country party place. And I loved it. And I'm a Brooklyn Girl to my core but this place never disappoints!!!"
"I wanted to go to a nightclub for my birthday since it had been a while and stumbled upon this new club that's located off College St. In uptown. I decided to get a table as I heard and read reviews from other people that it does get crowded, so to be more comfortable, a table would be a better option. I'm so glad I did! First off, we arrived a little before 11 p.m., and there was no line outside. The outside does have some palm trees, which gives it a Miami feel to it. We walked up to the "host" stand, Gabe them my info, and let them know we had a table. She was super sweet and nice. Our table was right in the center and across from the DJ booth, which I loved because we were able yo see the whole club from our location and be in the middle of everything. The table was super spacious, and I loved how the club was decorated. Lights everywhere and sometimes when they would play a song, the music videos would be playing all around the club, which I thought was cool. Our bottle girl was super nice and attentive, and she made sure I had a blast and took care of every detail. Towards the end of the night, though, it did get super busy, so we lost her for a while, but it wasn't a big deal. Now, this club does have a small dance floor that gets extremely packed, so I do recommend that if you want to have your space and be comfortable, a table is the way to do it. They offer table service on the dance floor also. There is a parking garage right beside the club, so you don't have to park far and some on the street if you find a spot. Now this is a more EDM, hip pop, pop club so if it isn't your taste in music you probably would not enjoy it. I definitely will be back for sure."
"I just visited this club first time with a friend who asked company for the New Year Eve Countdown. He said there would be a buffet dinner and free champagne at mid night. That sounds great.I looked for a change this year as I was at Sheraton Hotel by the airport last year for the same purpose. Unfortunately, their TV broke and they did not fix it in time. Together with other guests at the bar, we did our manual countdown by watching at our cellphone. (Not much fun) Therefore, this year, I was looking forward something I coud really enjoy. We arrived Excelsior Club before 8:00pm to avoid long queue like some dancing places we went before. We were almost the first few guests got in. $30.- per person with no discount. (even I saw posters everywhere said member $20.-, guest $30.-) The place was already decorated. We ordered a drink from the cash bar and got a table. DJ was almost on time which was great.A long table at the entrance with some disposable set up (folks and knife, bowls) for buffet. Food was not served til almost 9:30 pm with only a tray of collard green and black eye beans and corn bread. Some guests could not wait any longer and started to get the food. A little while later, we saw a tray of fish crush (guests called salmon crush), a liver cake and sauage (all deep fried) ended up with a tray of scramble egg and grits, toasts and margarine and jam. I asked my African American friend if that was what a buffet in such style. He responded that was not classy at all. I ended up eating only my favorite collard green, black eye bean, two pieces of fish crush, scramble egg and grits.Obviously this was from outside catering (perhaps working as a side job to make some extra $$$) Not appealing at all. One point was even when we left at around 12:30am there were still food left, eggs and grits and toasts.I just imagined I was having fried chicken, meat balls, roast beef or ribs as their tradition. (Forgive me for expecting too much from $30.-) or perhaps they expect guests would have their dinners before they came. There was just DJs with no live band. A small glass of Champagne was come with the price just before midnight. Guests were enjoying the dance and the manual countdown with no big screen TV.The place was established in 1944. I believe there are dancers in other occassions.Perhaps a pot luck works better next time."
"Don't go here. It is dirty, crowded, low-class... scary. Visibility is barely 3 feet in front of you because of the smoke. Questionable clientele, sketchy owners. Avoid."
"Went to celebrate my friends birthday, the drinks were served great and all at first but we had some difficulties with getting any service after and it took awhile to be served regardless that we had a reservation. Overall ended up being a good night, I suggest improving staff attendance and the menu to be better accessible. The dancing situation was okay at best but what can you do being above the actual festivities, otherwise I'm glad there was proper air conditioning"
"LET ME TELL YOU WHY I LIKE THIS PLACE.1. SUPER CLOSE TO ME2. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT! AND CHEAP3. I CAN DRESS DOWN WHEN I GO. if ever i just want some good music, mingle a little, and eat i can go to this spot. It is perfect. Sunday is the free night for ladies. be careful, free can bring interesting people out sometimes lol."
