"I've driven by this coffee shop thousands of times and always wanted to try it out. The other day I went in and was absolutely shocked how massive and cute the interior is. I ordered an iced pumpkin spice latte with whipped cream and it was absolutely delicious. I noticed that they had a lot of muffins, sandwiches, other drinks, and sweet treats. I didn't try any, but they looked very delicious. The young man behind the counter was so kind. Everyone who worked in there seem to have a kind of light about them!! Would definitely recommend Hope House coffee to everyone near the forest city area!"

"Our first time here was amazing. Clean and cozy spot for our lil date. Service was great and food was even better. I got the Monte Cristo with fries and it was all so good. The fries were very tasty and the Monte Cristo had the tastiest batter fried on the outside of the Virginia ham. I would totally recommend it. We also got the turkey, apple and Brie sandwich which was also good but just not as good as the Monte Cristo. The MC had a raspberry dip which was a nice addition and the turkey, apple and Brie came with a caramel dipping sauce which was good too. We got house chips with this sandwich and they were really good too. We got the kids Mac and cheese and it wasn't bad. My daughter ate it and she can be tough to please. We also ordered the deviled eggs which was not the best but since it was priced low we weren't disappointed that it was not as good as everything else we got. All in all I would recommend this spot and it's food. Service was great and the ambiance was too. We'll definitely be coming back when in town."

"We could not believe how fantastic this place is! We are always on the hunt for good and cheap breakfast, I am so glad we found M & D's. It was extremely clean, so clean that we noticed how clean it was; no dust on the windowsills or blinds. Our server was extremely attentive, a young man with a pony tail on top his head. Our coffee was always topped off. The food was great and cooked to order.One thing I definitely liked was the coffee mugs are made of melamine, so your coffee doesn't get cold very fast and the handle feels good in your hand. We will definitely be back!"

Cagney's Kitchen is a small chain in the Winston-Salem area consisting of about 10 locations. Some are just Cagney's Kitchens, some are Cagney's Kitchen and Pizzeria and some are Cagney's Kitchen, Pizzeria and BBQ. This location is simply a Cagney's Kitchen.This restaurant is in what I believe is normally a pretty busy area near the hospital. On a Sunday morning, not so much. However, when we arrived it was apparent Cagney's was busy. The parking lot is small, tight and was very close to full but we found a spot. The entry is covered and opens to the dining area and host counter. The inside appears very cramped and dated but everything appears to be clean. We were seated promptly in a small two person booth, provided menus and offered drinks. We checked out the menu which was pretty basic but included about everything you might normally want for breakfast. My wife decided to get the farmers omelet with no cheese, a side of gravy for me and a biscuit. I chose the chicken fried steak and eggs with wheat toast. Our food arrived promptly and looked good and hit the spot. My wife really enjoyed her meal and thought the flavor of the omelet and the flakey biscuit was delicious. The chicken fried steak hit the spot for me as well.If you are looking for a diner type experience this fits the bill, nothing fancy but the food is solid and the prices are right."

"I am ashamed to say I'm a Matthews native and still live here and I literally had NO clue this was a restaurant lol. But in any case now that I know, best believe me I will be back. The outside is the small town charm of Matthews, but the inside is modern big city vibes. It is absolutely beautiful in there. Service was great and food and drinks amazing. I went on a Tuesday with a huge group of Facebook Group friends and we had a ball. We got the whole dining area reserved for us and in spite of a large crowd, the two waitresses were awesome. On Tuesdays cocktails are half off so I got the margarita and it was delish.For food I got the truffle fries and short rib sliders. Both were phenomenal! I couldn't even eat it all lol because even though small plates, I felt they both were filling. This place is great for a date night, hanging with the girls or even going solo to hang out at the bar. I can't wait to get back! Only thing that could make this place better is some live acoustic music sometimes, it would set the ambience off even more. Spoke with the owner and he said they do cocktail classes as well, they don't have them listed on the website but working on it, but said can email them for the info. I certainly will! lol"

The only place in town serving real grits, not quick cook or instant, real grits, the kind you have to wait for because you can't rush a real grit. Fluffy but hearty pancakes and smoky sausages and eggs done just right. Endless coffee and smiles all around. I've never walked out of there disappointed or anything less than full. Breakfast there allows me to skip lunch and drive straight through to home in Virginia. Keep this gem in mind when you're in the area."

My only change up would be to have the eggs on the side. The steam kinda made the waffle soggy underneath it. I've had the grilled cheese twice and had the chicken strips meal (pictured) last time. It also comes with a drink which is nice. The employees always make sure I have everything I need, and usually throw in a coupon. I've never dined in but the atmosphere looks cozy and nice, but not stuffy-cute bar area. They have date night menus, specials, brunch, etc. The menu is enormous so I definitely plan to swing back through and try some different dishes."

It is located across from a local park Romare Bearden. I recommend the fish and chips and a choice of beer. It is exceptionally flavorful. Their other fare is delicious as well. I haven't tried them but many recommend the chicken wings. It is at times quiet and intimate. Then at other times loud and noisy. They also have small tables outside. Either way you will enjoy yourself. The individuals working there are kind, polite and very helpful. It is also very clean. You can sit up front and look out the large windows and watch people go by and also see some of the local characters in the area. Just enjoy a unique experience in downtown Charlotte."
