"Upon a friend's request, we decided to try Capitaine Bar & Grill for dinner last week. Upon entry, we were greeted and taken to an open booth. The place was kind of empty at 7 PM. We were then greeted by Shawna and a waitress in training. We ordered the fries and Alhadji Spicy Suya with shrimp. It was $14 for 1 skewer of shrimp and veggies with a unique and flavorful spicy sauce. It wasn't worth the prices but it was delicious. The fries were just that, fries with seasoning on top. We ordered drinks as well. I ordered the Manhattan and my hubby and friend ordered the Lemon Drop Martini. My Manhattan was on point. It definitely had a kick to it which I thoroughly enjoyed. The hubby and friend really enjoyed their Lemon Drop martini as well.Next, we ordered our entrees. I had the lamb T-bone with curry potatoes and jollof rice. I know, I know, two starches. I typically order a green vegetable but they done have many options for green vegetables. I've always heard jollof rice is the best rice on the planet, so I had to try it. My t-bone was cooked well done and was so flavorful. The jollof rice was phenomenal and the curry potatoes were delicious too. Our friend ordered the sautéed mixed greens and jerk wings. She said both items were very good.My hunny ordered the Capitaine burger with more fries. He too enjoyed his meal. Finally, I had a sweet tooth. Since the food was good, I asked Shawna for a suggestion on dessert. She recommended the famous sweet potato maple cheesecake. I went t with her suggestion, and boy oh boy, that was kneading of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. It was soooooo tasty. I wanted more but didn't want to overdue it.Overall ratings1. Alhadji Spicy Suya with shrimp - 4/5 (very good nut not worth the price)2. Manhattan - 5/53. Lemon Drop Martini 5/54 Fries - 4/55. T-bone with curry potatoes and jollof rice (wasn't spicy, fyi) - 4/56. Burger and fries - 4/57. Wings and sautéed greens 5/58. Sweet potato maple cheesecake - 5/59. Ambiance - 5/510. Customer service (Shawna was personable and gave some great recommendations. She did an excellent job and so did the waitress in training) - 5/5Overall rating - 4.6/5 I will definitely be back with more friends and family. Overall, I highly recommend this lounge to those looking for some flavorful food.P.S. they offer hookahs too. By the time we left the restaurant was more crowded. You can park on the street for free as well."
"So I only stayed for drinks and got chips and salsa. Which surprised me weren't free like in most Mexican restaurants. These were $7 which he typed in himself so I'm not sure if he just decided to charge me on his own or what. Anyways for $7 I would expect my chips to be hot and fresh not stale. The salsas that came with it left much to be desired the Verde sauce tasted like the jar sauce from Heinz. The menu doesn't give you prices for drinks so make sure to ask to avoid any crazy totals. My margarita was all sour mix and her Jameson and ginger was all soda. Overall drinks were poorly made. The restaurant itself was basically empty and it still took about ten minutes to get those drinks. The place is covered in contrasting elements. It's a very busy look."

"Our first time here was amazing. Clean and cozy spot for our lil date. Service was great and food was even better. I got the Monte Cristo with fries and it was all so good. The fries were very tasty and the Monte Cristo had the tastiest batter fried on the outside of the Virginia ham. I would totally recommend it. We also got the turkey, apple and Brie sandwich which was also good but just not as good as the Monte Cristo. The MC had a raspberry dip which was a nice addition and the turkey, apple and Brie came with a caramel dipping sauce which was good too. We got house chips with this sandwich and they were really good too. We got the kids Mac and cheese and it wasn't bad. My daughter ate it and she can be tough to please. We also ordered the deviled eggs which was not the best but since it was priced low we weren't disappointed that it was not as good as everything else we got. All in all I would recommend this spot and it's food. Service was great and the ambiance was too. We'll definitely be coming back when in town."
"Okay , lately I have been so disappointed in chain steakhouses. The steaks get thinner and thinner and nothing is the same. I found this place while working in Rock Hill SC. What a find! When you dine here you feel like a king! I love the French Onion Soup with three cheeses melted on top of the rich flavorful thick onion soup with the bread soaked in the goodness. The Steaks are tasty ( I had the 401 Ribeye) Tonight I had birthday dessert : the cheesecake and one bit and I'm hooked .. it's soo creamy ( rivals New York cheesecake at Juniors in Brooklyn) . I'm not kidding this place is special . Save room for the cheesecake and let me know how much you like it, or anyone of my other recommendations. Enjoy good food!"
"John's a great bartender awesome guy that really made us love this place! Great recommendations and stories. Definitely recommend that you meet him! Cute bar with nice seating and clean bathrooms."
"Second time at this club...The ambiance and the crowd was cool. Beautifully decorated club with a lot of potential!!! Drinks were good and my group enjoined themselves!!!"
"The fried fish sandwich is spectacular, and I think they have the best mac & cheese that I have ever tasted!"
"I've been here before and don't really remember anything memorable about the food, but this time I do. The dip sandwich looked great, the beef salad looked great and my salmon salad was great. I want to go back today!"
"Haven't been here for more than 10 years. Just went there for a Tuesday night of dance and drink. The place is the same, full of Latin music for salsa, bachata and merengue. The hours was from 9 pm to 2 am as adv. There's a $10 admission fee. Drinks were reasonable. My friends said beer was $4 while I had special cocktails for $6. Bar tender James adjusted the alcohol level for me since I said I just need a little favor only. I did have a couple of drinks and a soda for other friends. My bill looked very affordable. At around 9:45 pm, a couple of professional dancer Wendy & Rodrigo arrived. They gave a free dancing class to everyone there. We all have fun.Was told that they just reopened after this pandemic. They would have snacks. Remember this place used to be packed with people. Full of music and fun. For sure I'll come again. The only downside of the area is parking. If you can't find a free street parking, there're parkings around for about $10."
"I wasn't expecting much when I arrived here, coming from a big city that's full of mediocre Mexican food it was hard to imagine a small town like Newton would have a really decent spot, but I was wrong! The salsa bar is extensive, almost all of the ones I tried were quite good and full of flavor. I ordered the Carnitas which were simple but done well and the portion size was very generous, especially for the price.I'll happily return upon my next visit to the area!"
"Love the Common Market vegan options. Always delicious. Great service and atmosphere too. It is a regular go-to for me."
"Yes, you've seen this place driving on Mt Holly-Huntersville Rd,...on Friday, the cars are parked two deep in front of the gravel parking lot. If your're not a member...don't even think about it...you gotta have a card.I was a card carrying member back in the day when it was just 'The Fat Parrot', not that's it's really changed that much.If you really want to know what it's like...buy a membership...or go as a guest. They have live music on Saturday."

If You Don't Go You Won't Know! FYI: GRATUITY IS AUTOMATICALLY ADDED.Saw the recent IG shoutouts and thought we would give Capitaine a visit. Stopped in on a Thursday evening at 8pm for a late bite to eat. Upon entering the vibe is a cozy and intimate space. The seating area to the left of entrance seems a bit awkward but is functional. There are a few high top tables in the center and four large booth tables to accommodate a party of four or five easily. The bar offers additional seating. The crowd was moderate, not overwhelming but the only two waitresses(one was also the bartender)seemed a bit stretched out. We weren't greeted upon entering and attempted to seat ourselves but all vacant tables had dirty plates left from previous patrons. The manager finally cleaned a table. When ordering we asked about drinks shown on IG and if they had a drink menu. They do not but we were told they can pretty much make whatever you want. We also noticed hookah pipes sitting near the bar as well as another customer smoking hookah when we walked in. Had to ask the waitress what the price was and flavors. There was no menu or listing for this either. While waiting on food we noticed a few customers complained about their food orders and checks being wrong. I saw a few people have to inquire about their orders being slow. We ordered food at approximately 8:10pm and received entrees 8:54pm. Entrees we ordered were the Capitaine Platter (grilled shrimp, lobster tail, and a side of plantain) Also ordered the Mango Habanero wings with a side of fries. Drinks were Sunrise Mimosa Margarita and Blue Lemon Drop, they left a lot to be desired. Lobster was over cooked, shrimp were ok. Had to ask for drawn butter for lobster which seemed foreign to them and it was obvious from lack of seasoning and refrigerator taste. Wings were the smallest I've seen. Not sure where they found that chicken and there was not a lick of heat for the habanero. Best thing ordered were the plantains.

My first time having dinner here.We actually came here with some friends we made through yelp!So 4 yelpers eating here and trying it out for the first time.Have to say the service was very good. The waitress was on top of everything. She was very understanding when I got my Monte Cristo and had to send it back because it was not cooked all the way through it was still gooey batter. Most waitresses get a attitude when things go wrong but not this one. She was very nice Took back the sandwiches and had them remade. Our friends being Vegan tried the " Hamburger" plant based. They said it was very good. The restaurant was busy when we arrived. Very nice place, the layout and separate room from bar area was very nice. We were in the basement of the building I think. Clean too. When the waitress brought our food back out it was cooked perfect this time. The batter was light not heavy or greasy like some places I've had it.The fries were hand cut and very good.Definitely we would eat here again. They have a good menu to pick from too. I think I'd get the Monte Cristo again it was so good (The only thing is the raspberry jelly was like a jam very thick hard to eat with the sandwich so maybe because it was cold, maybe it heated would be a little easier to use. Otherwise very good. )Check this place out of your in the area!

Had a very nice time at Epic for a night out overall. Firstly, the food was truly the shining star. We ordered the cheese toast as a starter. Tasty without being too heavy. For mains we had the epic burger with Brussel sprouts side, and the smokin hot couple which is three filet medallions and Cajun shrimp. We asked for rare, which many restaurants claim to offer but usually get medium rare. Epic truly delivered rare and both were delicious. We split key lime pie for dessert, which was not too sweet, and the lime was very refreshing.Waiter was speedy, knowledgeable, and had great recommendations. The ambiance in the room was also very nice. Where it was darkly lit overall, each table had bright smaller lights which made it easy to see my husband and our menus clearly. Added intimacy despite being packed for dinner.Only downside was the front of house staff. We had made reservations inside and were initially seated outside. We asked right away to be moved and were met with an eye roll. Then as we were waiting to figure out our next seat the front staff just stood around gossiping and laughing. Not quite the caliber experience compared to the rest of the staff or the night.

Get the Ass Clown IPA! As a New England native this is the best NE IPA I have had in NC. Also had the Rolled Old Fashion made by Justin who did a fantastic job and was excellent! I highly recommend both.

This is a so-so place. Nice decor and ambiance but some of the worst bar tenders. As a woman who always tips - I expect my drink good with a smile and a receipt. I understand it gets busy. But if you have a tab ($20 min w card) I shouldn't have to sit and wait after receiving my drink for you to help more people before closing my tab. Make my drink, give me a receipt and then move on. Why is that difficult? I shouldn't have to wait for you to serve more people while I stand at the bar- drink in towe --just for my card back. I worked in a club in NY and id never do that to a customer.

Came here for lunch today. Great service and excellent food! Started with the pimento fritters appetizer!! Yum Yum and that tomato jam is special! I had the chicken and waffle sandwich. So delicious! Ask for some honey siracha sauce too if you like a little kick!

Stopped by Harry's Grill and Tavern for dinner and had a mostly great experience! The grilled salmon with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes was absolutely delicious. However, our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed and inattentive at times. We waited a while to order, but our food for out quickly. Pros1. Delicious food2. Generous portion sizesCons 1. Service was a bit spotty, but friendly Would definitely come back for the food, hoping the service improves next time!

"I would never expect to find a place like this in Rock Hill. We came for a friend's birthday and had a great time. It's kind of hard to find. The address is on Main Street, but it's not really right on Main Street. It's down on the side of a building. It would help if they put a sign on Main Street directing you where it was. There's a free parking garage near by.It's 21+ only and they check ids at the door. There's a $5 cover, cash and card are both accepted. Once you're inside, all arcade games and pinball machines are set to free play and you can play as long as you like. There a large patio area as well, but it was a little cold right now. They layout inside isn't great. It's very cramped and hard to get around. There's some tables to sit at and eat, but they're awkwardly placed because they're in the way of the games. They have a pretty good number of games. Pinball is my favorite and they had six machines I believe. They have a decent drink selection as well as a small food menu with pretty standard bar food. We got the bacon cheese fries and the cinnamon sugar fries. The bacon cheese fries were good--pretty standard with a nice crispy fry. The cinnamon sugar fries needed an icing to dip them in. The only thing I did not like was how loud the music was. It felt like you were at a club and you couldn't talk to anyone. I'd be interested to come earlier in the day and see if it has a more laid back vibe. I really liked the concept of this place. All of the arcade bars in Charlotte tend toward free to get in and then you have to pay for games like pinball. I'd way rather just pay $5 to get in and then not have to worry about it. I'd definitely come back here, but probably during the day when there's a better chance of normal volume music."
"Definitely a great little pub with a lot of unique characteristics that make it a great spot to stop at in the mountains. Definitely a known brewery around these areas that has some pretty decent options in their own right that you will find outside of coming here, but the variety here definitely tops that with a nice atmosphere. I can see why it's a very popular spot here in the middle of the college town. Honestly between the service being good and the variety of a simple combination of indoor outdoor spaces, it's about all you can ask for. Don't get me wrong there's some breweries that have unique things to offer besides this in the mountains at times, but what they have done here is perfect to make everything flow well."
"Phenomenal. Salchipapas = ridiculous, only feedback isIt needs shoe string fries not steak cut friesThe mariquitas was also ridiculously good. For our main entree we split the Cuban fries rice. Also so delicious I wish we would have ordered two."
"We were in Charew and wanted to get a bite and a drink. The motel clerk recommended Oslo's as being the place that could provide both.Oslo's sits on the side of the highway that runs through this part of South Carolina. It has a pretty big parking are on either side, and there was a fair number of cars. Wednesday night is their pool tournament night. Plus, from the look of the crowd, I'm thinking it might be the locals favorite hangout. The place was packed. Families to seniors, there was a good cross section of the local poplace having dinner or enjoying a beer. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but a bit taken back that 3 Californians had found their way into this part of the world. They have a full bar, and we put it to use. The chicken wings were big and nicely done, crisp and crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. We also enjoyed an order of the fried onions. For dinner, I had the hamburger steak smothered ing mushrooms, onions and green peppers with a baked potato. My wife had the broiled Cajun shrimp plate with very good garlic mashed potatoes. Our pal had the Mexican burger...it had plenty of jalapeño rings, but they forgot the tomato and lettuce...! But he still enjoyed it.All in all, I would say Oslo's offers an excellent slice of Americana. The menu is solid, the beers cold and they have 2 pool tables."
"The Lafayette is a breath of fresh air in Uptown Shelby. I decided to visit and become a member over the Thanksgiving Holiday break. Annual membership is $5 and allows you to bring one guest 21 and over. Everyone is carded here no matter your age, so don't be offended. When you first walk in there are 3 pool tables - two are coin op (there is a change machine) and the "Pro" table is rent by the hour. At the back are three dart boards and the restrooms. Five taps which were heavy on OMB (not a fave) and a moderate selection of canned beer. Was happy to see Hazy Little Thing and Guinness. I just kind of went with the flow my first visit and never really saw a price menu to compare draft vs. can; I believe cans were about $5 each. The Lafayette also offers a cocktail menu to members.Pretty cool hangout. No rowdy people, just chill ones. Not sure if the beer prices will work for or against them - only time will tell. And of course I'll be back, I'm a member now after all...."
"Hands down the best wings in town. I have ordered from there via Door Dash for most of 2021 and they have been consistently excellent every time. That is saying a lot considering the drop off I have experienced everywhere else."
"LOVE IT. Pretty new bar (owned by Seaboard) - opened about a month ago. The bar itself is a long, beautiful wood and makes the place smell wonderful. The bartender, "Tom or Tim or Timmy", was like a buddy from college. Super nice, very helpful, and eager to please. Prices are very reasonable. Sells Seaboard beer (delish), wine, cider, and liquor. Liquor is sold like they do in the UK, where you mix your drinks and you pay by the type of liquor with the mixers free. There is plenty of space but cozy feel. Huge TVs behind the bar. Couple of Golf video games, dart area and shuffleboard. No real food other than snacks (I.e., chips, nuts, etc.) so it is a "private club" but no charge. Look - if you need an awesome, convenient, fun hangout to have a few with friends - THIS is it."
"We made an early dinner RSVP at 5:30 pm, so were seated right away. This time I ordered their Korean BBQ Mahi Mahi, which came with Sweet Potatoes and Edamame...and all of it was really good! Very spicy too, of course, with the Gochujang sauce on the fish. My husband tried their Cajun Fried Snapper...and he loved his dish as well. I love how they changed up the menu since last time with many new, juicy seafood options. We got this complimentary bread with red-based sauce, which my husband loved. We also ordered a cup of She-Crab Soup again. We thought they were a bit too salty, but good. I also tried this Blueberry cocktail, which was good...but not sure if I'd get that again. Service was good as well. Our waitress kept things moving fairly easily...and even a manager stopped by our table to check on our meal. The thing that disappointed me was that the ambiance was off. Maybe because we came too early, but the place was still a tad too bright, even as we were leaving...and there was no overhead music. I remember they played really nice overhead last time we were here. Also, the A/C wasn't too strong, and it was a super-humid day.Overall, we really enjoyed our meals here...and I'm sure we'll be back."
"I had high expectations of this place because I know what to expect from GBD, and I have to say that they totally delivered! My bartender was so nice...and, well, patient. I was indecisive except that I wanted a cocktail with vodka and food without cheese. I put the pressure ON this poor dude, and he did not disappoint!!! He asked how heavy the food should be, and I said medium, so he hooked me up with what I think was a cheeseless Hippie Burger & it absolutely hit the spot!!! Just stellar. But did the drink live up to my expectations?....YES. Very much so. I still have no idea what I got, but I told him it tasted like the smell of a Home Goods. If you're familiar with the store, it always smells light and airy and mildly floral, like how my drink tasted. It was fantastic, and I apologize that I can't tell you what it was. Will absolutely be back!!!"
"Was meeting up with old friends from out of town. Since we were all coming from different directions, a friend found this online and it was in the middle for all of us. We gave SM a shot and I'm glad we did. Inside was busy and loud so we opted to sit outside. Our waitress was very accommodating and food and drinks were delicious. I had the Cajun seafood pasta and the serving size was big! I had plenty of leftovers for next days' lunch."
"We just happen to be the first customers! Nice custom drinks. How's this for a sample. A Doc Holliday; Jack Damiels, jäger Meistersinger orange juice and Dr. Pepper. So far pretty decent, owners are personable and I hope this place turns out to be a regular hangout."
"Had a prix fixe family-style menu. Wouldn't do that again as it didn't really work out. For example, served soup for 12 in three or four bowls (not large mind you, just a regular serving) that was then moved to small bowls using a teaspoon by each diner. Not the best experience by far, but not sure it's entirely their daily. Thinking they do better with individual meals."
"This is really kind of a perfect tap house. And I'll tell you why. First off. It's the right size. It's not one of those giant places that you could never really navigate through. It also has a nice selection of beers, but not too many, so yeah, can experiment with different types of beer and have a nice variety. The food! I had the Carolina Burger that has chili and cheese. So juicy, lots of flavor, and the right ratio of toppings. Im going back tomorrow to get the Lamb Kabobs. Plus, it's in the quant downtown area, so have a walk around! is really kind of a perfect tap house. And I'll tell you why. First off. "Stopped by for a quick bite to eat! Food was great! Great prices ! I highly recommend"
"Purely by chance we happened to arrive right when they opened--what perfect timing! The menu is simple and easy to follow, which made ordering a breeze. We decided on the camaron, carne asada, and birria tacos, and they were all absolutely delicious with just the right amount of kick. The Al pastor burrito, on the other hand, was massive--definitely a meal in itself! The interior is simple and has a relaxed vibe, making it a great spot to enjoy a casual meal. The friendly customer service added to the experience, and I loved that you can watch them cook right in front of you since the kitchen is adjacent to the dining space. The only thing I'd change? I wish they'd fill my cup all the way to the top--I love horchata and wanted every last drop!Overall, El Mano Tacos is a great spot for delicious, no-fuss Mexican food. Highly recommend!"
"The second and most time spent stop on my visit to the downtown area. Music was going (Not live) and decent drink selections. I liked most that front end which obviously gets most of the attention is supported by the back end - yeah, a small bar counter toward the back where it's a bit quieter and you can more quickly get a drink. The two bartenders working back there were real cool and the area in the back keeps up with the sorta loungey atmosphere.Being more loungey than divey the crowd fit the bill, less regulars and more of a younger crowd and more newish pop music which was alright. Besides the bartenders being cool, the other staff were on point so as a group would leave/move away from a table the staff would quickly come in to clean it up and straighten up the chairs, so those details were nice to see and keeps the overall setting appealing. If you hanging with 2 or more people, and like a young crowd, I'd say this is the spot."
"Food is heavenly, staff is friendly and attentive, location is convenient. What more can I say? The bar stools are uncomfortable, so I drink an extra beer to forget about it. Atmosphere is that industrial, clean look. Lots of tables, good for medium size groups too. Excellent job of taking care of us, even when we walk in and it's completely full including several larger groups. Texas bowl is great, fresh ingredients and we managed to get a photo before we devoured it this time! My stand by is the Monterey Wrap. Mac and cheese is also excellent. It's a tough choice between rice and beans, wings, wraps, and rotisserie chicken. Salads look great but I've not had one yet. Parking is a little tricky at peak times- if you have a big vehicle, be patient. Or park and walk. Location is convenient to downtown Rock Hill area, plenty of space."
"For a pizza place, the beer was damn good. The pizza wasn't as good as I was hoping for: the crust was great, but there wasn't much in terms of toppings (I got the four cheese topping pizza, and I liked the mix, but it maybe covered a third to two/fifths of the pizza).I'm not a big fan of the restaurant itself, either. It was claustrophobic, and the wooden chairs are not comfortable on - well - your butt.I might try it again, although probably not unless the friend I was with wants to go there again; she liked it more than me, so I just smiled and said it was great. I really did like the beer thought - that was exceptional."
"Best cocktail lounge ever! Dropped in on Thursday. It was sing along night. They had a very talented singer, Eddie, and the crowd was all joining in. Towards the end a patron got up a performed the most beautiful opera. Wine and cocktails were perfect. The charcuterie board was delicious. The vibe and decorations are super cool. There is plenty of seating so bring a group! I live in Charlotte but will definitely make the drive to come back. Super cool spot! Best night out!"
"My boyfriend and I stopped by to check out this newest location of Hoppin' and we were blown away! I'm a huge fan of the South End location so I had really high expectations. They exceeded them, by far.The space is massive, immaculate and gorgeous! There's so much room. You can enjoy the inside space or venture outdoors on their lawn, patio or upstairs area. It's next to a train station which I thought was super cool.I actually like that they don't allow kids after a certain time because while we were there, there was some kind of birthday group that had lots of kids. A few of the kids literally almost ran into me with my beer flight and that would've really sucked LOL. I'd probably come back when no kids are around. The beer was fantastic, service was amazing and I even bought a t-shirt! Love Hoppin! Always a great time!"
"This place was an accidental find. We were just passing thru and was hungry. Pulled this up on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. It is a must stop from now on. The burgers were amazing and the stuff shrimp appetizers was delicious. Service was excellent and fast."
"I looked up on this place for Google search and man o man, was I happy? This place is for the big kids and the little kids. You play one flat fee of $10 for adults or $5 for children. And you get to play as many games as you'd like, as long as they're open. They had every game from Miss packman to Galaxy to Donkey Kong. All of the games that I grew up on. They also have liquor, beer, wine, soda and water for additional purchase. The staff was great as well."
