Bakery storefront with some seating inside and out in downtownWaxhaw. You walk in and are greeted both verbally and with smells of coffee and baked goodness! Order is simple, wak up to.the counter and chose your goodies. We did to-go, and everything was delicious! Small space but huge flavors . Large pieces and reasonable prices. Great place to stop in for some baked goods.

This bake shop is where it's at. It's a must try and trust me you will be returning for more. The crossiants are so yummy and they have plenty of filling options. The donuts are also filled and taste awesome. My wife and I have tried many items from here and frequent the shop often. We have always enjoyed everything, even the gf items are very good. Customer service is great and welcoming. Prices are perfect. You need to try them out. Start with the filled crossiants and you will be hooked. They are glazed to perfection and they have minis and large ones. The spread of baked goods is very nice here.

Searching for a treat on Sunday morning in downtown Waxhaw, I found this little bakery. The chocolate croissant was delicious and flaky pastry. The chocolate flavors were good and the pastry was airy. My kiddo liked the chocolate cake pop! It was a good size for a kid, on a stick and covered in chocolate. They were busy on Sunday morning, so we took it to go. They have some tables outside but not shaded so I walked down the street to some benches. We parked by the RR and walked so I would suggest that too.

Excellent taste & quality. If you've never had their glazed/filled croissant, go now. Like right now. Go. Now. So delish! We've tried a few of their many offerings, all excellent, but the filled/glazed croissants are just the best!

Let me start by saying that I understand it is a time of COVID and many businesses are doing what they can, as they can. The things that I'm reviewing have nothing to do with pandemic procedure, though. And as we have started to frequent other bakeries in the past few months, my critique is based on what I've seen and experienced elsewhere in comparison. My wife and I showed up on a Saturday morning before opening time. We figured it would be busy, and wanted to avoid the rush. I noticed, and thought it was odd, that the front lights weren't on. Bakeries are usually hustling in the morning to get fresh goods into the front. This was not the case here, and brings me to the first issue: with the exception of the glazed croissants we ordered, none of the donuts or baked goods were fresh. They were at least a day old and it showed. Our order:2x glazed croissants - The best thing we had, but there's a problem. Donut w/ chocolate glaze and sprinkles - Daughter loved it, but she's two and is not discerning. Cheese danish - At least a day old. It had nice layers but biting into it, it was almost gummy. The cheese was overly sweet, as well. Apple fritter - Sizeable, but most of the moisture was sapped out so the result was dry. Blondie brownie - The nuts in this overwhelmed the flavor of the crumb, which was a bit dry. Chocolate croissant - The top was overdone and the bottom was under done. The chocolate inside felt like biting into a Hershey bar. Spinach and feta pastry - Though it looks like the filling is plentiful, the inside is almost hollow. Crumb cake - This was almost hard to bite into. At least a day old, maybe two. The brown sugar topping had no softness to it whatsoever. We ordered an assortment because it was our first time here and we like to sample. Unfortunately, our experience was lackluster.Which brings me to the last item. Remember above where I said that the glazed croissants were the best thing, but there was a problem? They're not croissants; they're donuts shaped like croissants. They're good, but it's kind of a bait and switch if you're expecting a real croissant. In the end, there are many things I didn't get to try, but for the time being we will most likely be sticking to Suarez or Your Mom's Donuts.

If you want a sweet treat for the holiday or on any other day stop by Burney's Sweets & More in Waxhaw. My favorite are the mini glazed croissants- they are the perfect size so you'll need at least half of dozen. I stop by there often on my way to work. Burney's is located in beautiful downtown Waxhaw. The parking lot is in the back of stores and then you need to walk around to the front to enter the store. Burney's is closed Monday's and opened Tuesday -Saturday 7am-6pm and Sunday 9a-3pm. Excellent customer service - everyone is knowledgeable and personable. I could go on and on about how nice everyone who works here is when I come into the store. The variety is in the name - sweets and more! Burney's has some many varieties of sweets. Today I got a cupcake, double chocolate chip cookie, and blueberry donut. I'm picking up croissants tomorrow for an office Christmas party! : )

This bakery has it all. Any kind of dessert you could want. Perfect for a slow Saturday morning or a plate of yummy treats for a party. I picked up a cheese danish, a glazed croissant and a leek pastry. Everything I have tried is delicious. You should check out how beautiful the cakes, lemon bars and macarons are! I highly recommend this bakery for any treats!

I absolutely am in love with this bakery. It was my first time here and I wanted to get my staff a thank you treat for each of them. Burney was kind enough to box each of my treats separate for me while we engaged in some awesome conversation.Very unique treats, and SUPER EXTRA delicious! So excited to keep supporting this bakery, and sad that I didn't know of them sooner. They even have VEGAN and GLUTEN FREE options....oh my word! I super recommend this place! This was my first time visiting any Burney's period. It was opening day and I saw the post on Instagram. I was literally right around the corner, so I decided to stop in! The staff was so nice!! They were happy and welcoming. The shop is super tiny, but very cute. A lot of care was put into getting it ready and you can tell. I have been trying to try the desserts since I saw it open in NoDa. I tried the caramel cake, the almond cookie, and the strawberry shortcake. I really liked he cookie and the strawberry shortcake. The caramel cake was good, but I did not like the frosting. It had more of a hard texture. I prefer a soft cake frosting, but to each their own. Overall, I had a good experience here and would be willing to try some other items at the NoDa location!
