This place is a fun place to go when you want to try something new. We went on a Saturday and sat at the bar. Two different bartenders waited on us. The beer was not cold at all - almost room temperature like. We had dinner here as well. The food is really good! The bad thing about going here is the bill at the end. The beer & food together for us was around $50. We can go elsewhere getting the same thing for a lot less.Pros: Good food. Good atmosphere.Cons: Expensive food/beer. Warm beer.

Staff is always ready with a smile and a good drink. Wood fired pizzas are awesome and the burgers are good too. Stop in Friday and Saturday morning for brunch! The bar staff is awesome and are very knowledgeable about the wall of bourbon and whiskey, they won't steer you wrong

Matthew Miller has outdone himself by opening up this bar (open to his restaurant Bistro 127). My husband and I have stopped in on several occasions to have a drink and appetizers. Great service, excellent selection, and nice atmosphere.

Probably the only place in Hickory, NC where you enjoy a good cigar with a drink. Cool old style indoor bar with a patio off the restaurant where you can smoke. Not a huge selection of whiskers but better than most. There was a couple eating outside so I asked the. If they would mind if I smoked a cigar. The woman of the couple was not pleased so I waited until they finished and left. Cozy little patio with a very attentive barmaid.

Everything was great including the atmosphere. Kids chicken tenders was only 2 small pieces though, so I'd just take note of that.We got the Philly cheesesteak pizza and it was great! They had live music that was just perfect for the space.

We tried Bootlegger's for the first time. The food was very good, especially the chicken and waffles. Our waiter, Donald was the highlight of the evening, very attentive and a great sense of humor. We will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, the worst meal out in a long time. Ordered country fried steak with pepper gravy, mashed potatoes and bacon mac and cheese.- Country fried steak: good- Pepper gravy: they had to fix the gravy, after I had already received the steak; when it got there, it was a bechamel sauce with carrots. Next try, it was something, but definitely not black pepper gravy. After I had already finished the steak, they brought another "pepper gravy."- Bacon mac & cheese: no bacon at all, just cold pasta with pimientos I don't "complain" to get free food, but after this many mistakes there should have been an adjustment to the $15 meal.

Really delicious food, great beer, and great service. The whole menu looked amazing and it was hard to choose. Had a wood fired pizza which had an excellent alfredo sauce and tasty crust. I thought the atmosphere was nice. Relaxed and casual. All of the staff were very friendly helpful and timely.

My wife and I visited Bootleggers for the first time tonight. We went in for a beer but then decided to stay for dinner. The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. I ordered the Ale House Burger which has 75% beef and 25% bacon and when given a choice of sides I choose the sweet potato fries. Both were excellent but I will have a tough time ordering this again. Why? First of all the when the bartender listed off my choices of sides he never told me that they were going to upcharge me an additional $2 for the sweet potato fries- add this to the already overpriced burger of $12.95 and I wound up paying $15 for a burger. Seriously Bootleggers this is bar fare you need to reconsider your pricing if you expect repeat customers! Your pricing is the only thing that is preventing me from giving you a 5 star review.

My husband and I stopped her on Friday, 5/20/16 to check it out and eat and have a beer. We stood at the bar about 5 minutes because the lady working was on her cell phone and eating, her back turned to us. She turned around and a guy pointed to us. She was not friendly, acted like we bothered her, and didn't even ask us if we wanted something to drink, she handed us menus. We then sat down and the blonde waitress was very pleasant. So ordered the bacon dates as an appetizer, I mean come on, if your paying that price for an appetizer, put some on the plate. I ordered a side salad @ I think $4.95, was worth $1.95, small, old greens, and just plan nasty. My husband ordered a pizza, we thought for $14.95 a medium should be plenty. Well again, very small portion pizza, boring and worth about $9.95. Very unhappy as you can tell. I think the owners need to lower their prices, you are definitely making some money off these small portions. Oh wait - I forgot, I ordered my daughter a large salad with chicken tenders to go. I opened the salad and was shocked - probably as much greens as on my salad and "2" chicken tenders, yes 2 and we paid $10.95 for the salad. When I got it home to her she put more greens on it and added some cucumbers, etc. to make it worth the $10.95. I would say the value of this salad $6.95, awful. I didn't want to complain, but I should have complained. We will not eat here again. On a good note, the beer selection, music, and bar and not bad, so we will come back to have a beer and not waste our $ on food. For all you other folks who would like to try Bootleggers - maybe when you go they will have read this review and made their portions worth what you paying. We went to Jasons Deli a few weeks ago and Wow, talk about a salad for $10.95. I think the prep people need to go visit Jason and learn a thing or 2. Ok I am done with my review. Have a great day
