Bonnie Cone Classical Academy

We have had a great experience at Bonnie Cone Classical Academy. We started in 2020 and both of my children are there. They have had wonderful teachers who challenge them appropriately yet provide a nurturing environment. As a parent, I have good communication with their teachers who are extremely responsive and truly care. I could have not asked for a better learning environment for my children.

This place is more like a prison than a school. The only thing keeping it going are the amazing teachers but they keep quitting. The school has lost 40 teachers this year! I have zero faith that they will have qualified teachers for next year. Security is lackluster at best, to check your child out of school you simply sign a piece of paper. They do not check your ID or even ask your name to see if you are permitted to pick up the child, they just hand them over. This is a Title One school yet there is no Resource Officer and they do not have a consular; two counselors have quit this year. Hardly any sports offerings, very few after school activities, no Father Daughter Dance because there is no PTO, no band, no music pageants. PowerSchools never works and their website hasn't been updated since last year but they have a full time IT person on staff. Discipline and Code of Conduct are not enforced. Children who are physical with other children are right back in their seats the very next day. Money's raise by PTO and Sports concessions is simply missing, no one in administration can account for it. Charter One cares about butts in the seats because that's what lines their pockets with cash. That and the monthly rent payments from Bonnie Cone because Charter One owns the land the building sits on.Shady much?

My daughter started going here when the school opened and 2019 before the building was completed. This school year so far has been our best experience. Ms. Franklin is doing a wonderful job with this school. I am glad we stuck it out!

My family has been part of the Bonnie Cone Classical academy for 4 years now. We have seen and been part of all the changes. Our current director, Ms. Franklin and admin is just what our school needed. She has already made great progress and changes that have been a positive impact on our school community. The teachers are amazing, seasoned and well experienced. My child is excelling and maturing so well. I look forward to the continued success and growth of the school.

My son was going there all of 2021-2022 school year and this fall they stated after first day all boys have to have hair no longer than ear or have to cut it or leave school smh. Kicked him out today smh off to another school. I know they can set own rules because they are charter but not fair at all. Def spreading word about this policy. I guess they want their students to conform to their out of date rules. Way to teach kids Bonnie!

Both my son and daughter go to BCCA, and we have been very pleased over the past two years. When I saw the negative review over a haircut I had to write a review. We also cut my sons long covid hair, and do not feel it's anything out of the ordinary for a school with uniforms and dress code that we all signed. I went to private Catholic school and the dress code policies are very similar. BCCA is a public charter school and as such, is a school of choice. We feel like BCCA is a good fit for our family and we are happy with the teachers and administration. Our kids are happy and thriving at BCCA.
