Best soul food in town! Great fried chicken and their greens are amazing. They clise early so be aware of that. Their breakfast is also tasty!

First time dining here, a no frills local favorite restaurant. I would love to see different seating. All of their chairs are attached to the table, gave a 1970's fast food restaurant dine-in vibe. There was a constant line of customers. They ONLY TAKE CASH!Limited parking in the lot.Food already prepped, cafeteria style. I think they could turn up the heat a lil more on their steam table. We loved the meatloaf, potato salad and greens. The sweet potatoes were good, with traditional seasoning. I liked the fried chicken. My cousin wanted more seasoning on it. The sweet tea good! We did not try any of the desserts. The macaroni and cheese was nothing special. Typical NC stovetop cheese sauce style. The corn bread was basic and had inconsistent browning. What also impressed us, three meals including drinks for only $40.

Lunch was good. I had the fish, turnip greens and potato salad. My dad got the hamburger steak, greens and yams. We ate lunch for $20. Very reasonably priced. Cash only! The potato salad was extremely sweet, not how I normally like potsto salad but it was good and I ate it. The yams were also overly sweet. The juice was like sweet sugar syrup. My dad is a diabetic and couldn't eat them, way too much sugar. If you like diabetes in a bag, get the yams. The greens were good, kinda tasted like they were from the can. The turnip pieces were cut extremely small and perfectly square like what's in cans. I can't say for sure but they were good. One thing that I did not like was that the lady fixing the plates did not have on gloves. She was handling the corn bread with her bare hands, putting it on the plates. Prior too, she was going through her pocketbook and shuffling papers that were visibly laying on the counter. I didn't eat my cornbread.

You can simply NOT go wrong with this amazing restaurant. You're guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face and a full tummy. From the Sanford and sons on the tv to the smile you're greeted with to the amazing meatloaf - it's all just perfect! I know I've said this before but I'll say it again - the potato salad is THE best. Scooped out perfectly. Creamy and a lil tangy. It's got the Mayo and mustard all other sides are on point as well but nothing tops the potato salad. Best soul food in the triad hands down!

Larry and Mary, I must thank you both! I believe this must have been my 3rd time popping my head in to say hello and get to talking. This time however, I was just leaving an appointment and was within walking distance and stumbled in about 4:34pm, they close at 5pm.The food was absolutely delicious and I probably got it for a steal at that because I certainly don't believe I paid enough for how good it truly was. I do a lot of intermittent fasting where I'll go a day sometimes two without eating any food & just drink water. I was on a day fast when the notion hit me to just walk in. I even had my first taste of an Arnold Palmer, or as some of my close friends call it, the Frady. I had funnily only asked for water, and Larry was kind to surprise me with at first I thought was sweet tea. I didn't want to say anything, since I said water as just out of regular choice of drink. I sipped my brown water and thought did Larry spike my tea. lol. It was great as well! Very great to say the least! I had to ask at the end and that's when I discovered it was an Arnold Palmer, or as Larry called it "UpTown" Thank you again Mrs Mary and Mr. Larry! I'll definitely be back! Quite, news playing and smells amazing inside! True hospitality (Cash only location)

Remember before you come: CASH ONLY.Decent southern food, in my opinion. I'm admittedly not a southern food expert. I've lived in High Point for almost 20 years and never saw the street this place is on. Is near not-good-areas, but this street is somehow nice and clean and good. The place was busy, but the line moved fast. The people were nice and the food was good.I got meatloaf and macaroni and corn bread. My wife got chicken, sweet potatoes, macaroni, corn bread, and sweet tea.

I really loved my most recent breakfast at Becky's and Mary's. They have amazing pancakes, eggs, potatoes, and toast. Ordering is simple and happens at the register. They are CASH ONLY- so, be prepared! The dining space is casual, and they have a steady stream of regulars. In spite of often being busy, my food has always arrived pretty quickly. I can't think of a place that does authentic southern cooking better. I've heard their fried chicken is incredible. This place is a fixture in its community, and I'm really glad that I've gotten to eat there.

Was looking for a diner-esque place while in town for a wedding. The staff was so friendly and even the other customers! Maybe because we were looking at the menu for so long they could tell we weren't local. It was so heartwarming to see everyone who walked in seemed to know someone in the place. Don't see many places like this anymore. But the food was great, good portion sizes, prices were reasonable if not a steal, and again service was awesome. Definitely going to come back before we fly back to Florida!Pro tip- Order the banana pudding. You'll be glad you did!
