Aroy Thai

Coming back here after a one year hiatus was like a breath of Thai air that I needed desperately and didn't even realize it until I walked through those doors! The wait staff were as quick as you could dream for in taking our orders, and returned with our food just as quickly! The lunch portions were quite large and we were very happy with the fact we could bring home a little bit of Thai happiness for a second meal later! We enjoyed Pad See Ew, Garlic Chicken, and Chicken Fried Rice. Each meal was exceptionally good and very flavorful! One of my sons ordered a huge glass of strawberry boba, and said it was "the best", so I guess I will trust his judgment on that! The eatery itself is very relaxing, inviting, serene, and just felt an overall feeling of being very welcomed here! The fish tank was a nice touch for sheer eye candy alone. Although this place appears to be a whole in the wall, it stays quite busy and is much larger inside than you might expect! Don't be deceived by outward appearances this is a gem on a main road and you would be a fool not to stop and enjoy all it has to offer!

Tonight I unfortunately dined at Aroy Thai/ Sushi Machi, located in a shopping plaza off East independence Freeway. The restaurant was completely empty during my visit, aside from a few takeout orders being picked up, which didn't feel like a great sign.I started with the tuna tataki, but it didn't deliver. The tuna tasted low quality, was over-peppered, and felt hastily prepared with inconsistent slice thickness, the searing was not even. The pad thai combo with chicken and beef was even worse. It was unbelievably sweet and unappetizing, I could barely eat it and left more than half on the plate. You can see in my photos that the noodles were almost swimming in sauce, which only made the overly sweet flavor more overwhelming.Overall, nothing I tried felt worth returning for. I'll stick to my usual spots next time. Hopefully, the restaurant can work on improving the quality and flavors for a better experience.

Definitely in my top 2. There was a good serving size of protein in my pad thai. The spicy levels seemed appropriate (I got no spicy but my husband got a medium spicy dish and enjoyed it). I really enjoyed my pad Thai for dinner (and lunch the next day). It had a great peanut flavor and good textured noodles. My favorite dish though was the summer roll.. yum! That peanut sauce is so addicting that I put it in with my pad Thai. The service for my call in order was exceptional. Friendly and honest, they told me the summer rolls would be $1 extra with shrimp. Not only that, but the young lady called to tell me when my order was ready to picked up. All in all, I will happily keep Aroy Thai in my take out rotation. We had a happy and full family after visiting!

Nestled in-between a strip club and an adult-themed clothing store we came upon Aroy Thai while out and about. In for a late lunch, was not sure what to expect, but hey, a 4 star rating on 210 reviews.. odds looked good. Turns out odds were stacked in our favor!One of those 'only in America, the amazing and wonderful melting pot stories.' -- here we were in 'Southern' Charlotte, NC eating Thai food, attended by a waiter from the Netherlands. The prompt service and attention to detail was the key to our European staff. Polite, responsive, helpful and friendly. The food was fresh, tasty, just spicey enough for me at a 3 (medium). We sampled the shrimp fresh spring roles, Panang Curry, and Tom Yum noodle soup. All the veg were fresh and flavors were delightful! Despite some of the surroundings would recommend this "strip" mall eatery for the food and the service!

Let this be a push for you to try Aroy Thai! I've always, always loved the food here. I believe there was a change of owner/management but the food has stayed at the same fantastic level. This was my first time dining in. The mix match tables and chairs adds a no-frills touch but the space is cute. The host at the front also took our order and had nice small talk and was very kind. We got goyza (not like any goyza I've had. This was very crispy fried but the flavor was really nice and I didn't mind the crunch), edamame, summer rolls with shrimp (very large size rolls with great fresh taste with crisp vegetables inside) and I could eat the plum sauce that they are served with on EVERYTHING! Entrees were 2 pad kee mau with chicken and extra vegetables and the other with chicken and shrimp, both level 3 - not a big lingering spice but the heat is there. This is the type of place where I always have intentions of trying something new but because this order is so good, it has me in a tight hold.

So I've been looking for solid Thai in Charlotte for a while, and every place I'd tried seemed to lack that layer of authentic Thai flavor. One night, Uber Eats and Yelp reviews led me to this gem. After a 45-minute commute in sound, it was so good that I had to try it in person. I came on a Friday night, and they needed to be packed with dine-in customers. The place is clean but small and quaint. Nestled in a strip mall, it isn't the ambiance that keeps people coming but the food. The lone waiter was efficient and prompt. The star of the show was the food. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and the mango sticky rice. The drunken noodles were served piping hot and bursting with flavor. The veggies were fresh, and the spice was just right. The chicken was juicy, and the portion was perfect to allow room for dessert. The mango sticky rice was perfect in portion and taste. It was the ideal end to the meal.

Was close to this restaurant and tried the pad see ew though it tasted pretty good the dish lacked seasoning. The spice level was good! Service was fast and the location was pretty small I saw a lot of door dash I would return to try other dishes

Our pad that was so overcooked, it had the consistency of oatmeal. We got drunken noodles and pad see ew, both ended up nearly identical- and the pad see ew might have been slightly better due to veggies that werent slimy. The food took a long time to prepare for pickup. I would not rate this as high as it historically has received, even for the low bar we have for Thai in the area.

This was the saltiest pad see ew (both plates in the picture) of my life. I've never been so dehydrated from a dish. Very disappointing. You can also see that it's inconsistent between the two dishes, one is darker than the other. We've had 5 people tried the dish and they all complained it was salty. The only good and well balanced, edible dish was the pad Thai. Love that they put aluminum foil under the food so it wouldn't leak through the boxes. Another point I wanted to bring up is that they were fast with the take out order. On time and we didn't have to wait long.

Ordered takeout and it was great. Takeout staff was pleasant. Food was high quality. Portions were plentiful
