Angry Troll Brewing

Great atmosphere, excellent staff and great food. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and burgers. Speed of service was great. They have a great beer, cider list.

On average the overall rating for this place is fair. I expected a better experience after the hype i have heard. Overall this is the same each time i have been there.

We eat here each time we come to Traphill/Elkin and the food is always good as is the service. I most recently had the chicken Philly which was tasty! My husband enjoyed his burger, onion rings, and my children enjoyed their meals.The only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5 stars is purely annoyance that they seem to nickel and dime you for extras.For instance, you have to pay for dipping sauce when you order wings. They are already charging $21.99 for 12 wings ‼ but then you have to pay $0.60 for dipping sauce and $2.00 if you want carrots and celery. These added extras when already paying a higher price for wings kept me from ordering them because every other restaurant I go to, those items are included along with charging less for wings. Were form Raleigh and we can get 12 delicious wings, sauce and carrots/celery for $16.The kids chicken nuggets and fries also didn't come with ranch - they charged us $0.60 for that as well. What kid doesn't want to dip their nuggets and fries in something?Sandwiches and burgers also don't include a side - it's all a la carte.Overall, we will continue to eat here because the food is good and the options in Elkin are limited, especially when it comes to eating with kids.

This place looked good at first & then I got a bad vibe as soon as I sat down at the bar. The bar tender, Dee P - raven haired girl with jean shorts & pink rimmed sneakers, definitely looked like she didn't wanted to be good at her job. The so called "bbq chicken" was something so vile that it belonged on the menu of a low budget fast food chain. It was as burnet as Anakin on Mustafar, drier than Death Valley, CA & so covered in knock off "bbq" sauce that it looked like the chicken was coated like a seal. The cook & staff really don't care about their work. You can tell cause all them were young. I couldn't finish it. I managed to keep my stomach in order until I was a ways away before dry heaving.

They were busy, but wait was not bad to get a table. Taylor is a great server. She took good care of us. Husband liked his burger. It was thick, but maybe too juicy for him. He'll get it medium well next time. I just got the pretzel, which is huge, and a small Caesar salad, which is a good size for small. We got a couple of can ciders, since taproom was closed. They were good! We also took wings and fries home to the kid, and they liked them. Nice space inside. Wasn't cramped, but heard they can get packed easy.

Service was good, it was Sunday and there was music and vendors for bike night. They have the taproom and games, billiards, and air hockey down stairs, they are advertising for live music Friday and Saturday nights.Clean bathrooms, good AC, and nice selection of adult drinks. Good selection of sandwiches and pizzas to choose from. Their onion rings are delicious, the Godfather sandwich is the Godfather of sandwiches !The teriyaki chicken sandwich is delicious, the Philly is pretty good although I got the pickled chilis on the side as they are a little warm and my stomach doesn't like them Everything is a la carte so you order your sides separately from the food if you want a side. We ordered the mini corndogs as an appetizer.Definitely recommend as a nice relaxed place to have a drink and grab a good sandwich or pizza!

(4.5 stars)Angry Troll is essentially Foothills in the actual foothills in that it's a spacious brewpub offering a solid lineup of taps and better-than-average bar food. It's housed in a historic brick building with plenty of room. Despite the size, Angry Troll does keep busy, especially on game days, which can lead to a (thankfully not unreasonable) wait.The menu here is about what you'd expect: fried apps, wings, nachos, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Add to that eight in-house beers (plus others available in bottles/cans), and you'll likely find something that you like. Our personable and hard-working server, Virginia, was kind enough to offer a few suggestions.It is in the quality of the food where Angry Troll stands apart. Fried pickles were cut into thin chips perfect for dipping. A BBQ chicken sandwich offered tender meat, lots of cheese, crispy bacon, and a slathering of aptly-named Sweet Heat sauce. It was a beast to eat, but it was worth every messy bite. My wife opted for a Southern Comfort burger featuring local beef, house-made pimento, and an onion ring, and it too proved tasty and satisfying.Prices are moderate (burgers and sandwiches clock in at $9-$10 without sides), and the ambiance is casual. It's a lively atmosphere with TVs everywhere, but it doesn't get headache-inducingly loud.All told, Angry Troll delivers well-executed food in a laid-back setting. It's well worth a stop if you're out Elkin way.

The Angry Troll is one of the best spots you can go to if traveling thru elkin. The atmosphere is great. Bar is always a great place to hang out with Dee. Dee is one the best bartenders ever, making sure you get whatever you need. She is always friendly and strives to make your experience at the Troll an amazing one. Food and Fun at its Best! Definitely check it out, you want be disappointed.Corey

Great place and great food! Best pizza in town! Rebecca and Virginia are the best and always are great waitresses. Great atmosphere.
