Alchemy Comedy has changed my life. This time last year I was a completely different person. I didn't have much going on and one day Googled "improv comedy" and found Alchemy. I went to my first show on 5/25/2012 and became instantly hooked. The shows are always new, fresh, and uplifting. This is a much better option than going to a movie on a Friday night. Here you get an opportunity to watch 2 great shows for the same price you'd pay at a movie and take away a better experience.I signed up for the 101 class shortly after because I wanted to do something different with my life. I took a chance and I haven't looked back. Over the next few months I found some of the best friends any person would be blessed to to have and now almost a year later I get to work and perform with the same people I idolized. Improv is not about being funny on your own or creating jokes after jokes, it's about teamwork and building scenes with partners and teammates. We all support each other and create incredible memories every time we perform. This is a great staple to Greenville, SC and believe me, it's here to stay. Check it out and be part of something special.

Alchemy Comedy is located adjacent to the local coffee shop Coffee Underground. The shows are usually $10 and you can grab a coffee or a wine or beer before the show. The performance can be hit or miss but overall entertaining. I've been to a few shows and never encountered a long line and there's usually plenty of seating. The room seats probably 50+ people. If you're interested in improv, they offer classes and you can have your chance to perform on stage!

I'm upping my stars by one because this time, I actually laughed. We went for the "Local Legends" show where the improv comedy is based on the stories told by a local person of note. After the first story I didn't quite get it, but after the second story the actors seemed to be getting into their groove. As I said before, some actors are better and funnier than others, but for the most part this group seemed to be getting a lot of laughs. The stories were interesting, though I can always do without the f-bombs that some people insist on using on stage. Overall, not a bad way to spend 1.5 hours on a Saturday night. Be sure to come early or stay later at Coffee Underground for their fabulous coffee and desserts.

I frequently conduct lay-led church services, and wanted to bring more adaptability and spontaneity to the services. I read a book about improv years ago, and was consciously trying to practice the improv principle of "yes and" in my conversations and relationships. When I heard about Alchemy's improv classes, I knew I wanted to go. I have taken 101, 201, 301 and 401, and now perform with Alchemy about once a month. I even invited them to participate in a church service to demonstrate their creative affirming values. This is one of the most loving and supportive groups of people I have ever been associated with. Improv is a sandbox where you can play while practicing careful listening and close observation. And from the audience it's just a lot of fun to watch.

Went for the first rime over the weekend and it was truly a great experience! All the staff was extremely friendly and the comedians were hilarious. The family friendly show meant they couldn't pick the low hanging fruit and they all really did a great job. Only complaint is that drinks were served in plastic cups when they're attached to a cafe and could definitely be washing dishes and more environmentally friendly- hopefully they add recycling for the cans and bottles they give out soon! Overall great and will definitely be coming back.

Looking for affordable fun, found info online. Once we figured out where it was located, was surprised it was not handicapped accessible (stairs from street level, then more stairs down to theatre). Thankfully the greeter was gracious enough to help my husband carry my scooter so it could be secured. We enjoyed the ensemble on stage that night. Chocolate cake was nice too!
