We stopped in for lunch, because for THREE WEEKS the dry rub on their Fern Wings has been calling my name. I love the decor and vibe inside the restaurant. The music was great and our server has good recommendations. My husband ordered the Catfish Po Boy and the Dirty Rice Grits. The sandwiches come with their house chips, which are a favorite of mine as well (They should serve them a la carte as well).Every item was so flavorful and unique. We ended up ordering the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding to go and My, My, MY! It was actually the star of the meal. I recommend you order two!

A wonderful representation of Southern Black Culture and Cuisine! The ownership group is cool as hell! If you get a chance to speak with them do it. You will be glad you did! It is very obvious how seriously they take their work and the way they represent themselves and the Culture, and as a Black woman that is so appreciated. Now that I got that out of the way...these people can cook! Like for real! They are creative in their expression of Southern cuisine in a way that I don't believe I've ever experienced before. I look forward to their continued growth and the. expansion of their vision. Check out the speakeasy!

I love 3rd and Fernwood. Had my second opportunity to have dinner here. The food is amazing. So unique and different from other restaurants in Charlotte. If you get the opportunity to meet the owners you have to ask them about the history and where they got the name. They are very proud of their roots in Memphis. There is a small room in the back called the Speak Easy. It's a place to hang out with friends concoct special drinks and just have a relaxing time. Great vibe all around. Enjoy!!

Made a reservation on a rainy Friday night, and it was a little sleepy. The Met is a tricky area for parking and this spot is a little hidden. Everything we ate was delicious! The oxtail meatloaf is melt in your mouth good. The po boy was crispy and not greasy. The chips served with it have a great flavor and would make me order that over the meatloaf in the future. The sides were what we've come to expect from the Colliers, savory and delicious in a way you know you can't replicate at home. Service was prompt and kind, and she had every table in there. We really miss Leah and Louise, but this food has the same soul and skill. We will be back! Footnote: we took our 4 month old and there is plenty of room for a stroller.

This is probably the best food I've had in Charlotte. Everything I tried was so unique and flavorful. I went for lunch on a Friday. Unfortunately they were out of quite a few menu items; however, my server gave some great suggestions. From what I tried, the braised greens were phenomenal. The catfish po'boy was so flavorful, light and crispy. The wings were cooked to perfection. Next time I would request a more simple seasoning for them though. Finally, the field pea mafe was hearty and delicious. The restaurant is stylish and has a great vibe. I'd like to return for dinner or brunch on the patio. I am especially interested in trying the Mac and cheese next time.

3rd and Fernwood is a fantastic spot in Charlotte with a menu that truly embraces Southern and soul food flavors. The dishes are well-crafted, comforting, and packed with flavor. A friend raved about the house-made mushroom burger, saying it was absolutely delicious. I tried the fried chicken thigh sandwich, and it was just as good--crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for soulful Southern cuisine done right!

Since I didn't make the Yelp event earlier this week at this restaurant so I decided to visit today because the photos were so nice. But, I'm on the fence whether I'll return or not. The positives about my experience was that the hostess and server were both very polite, friendly and hospitable. They provided service with a smile which is hard to come by. Parking is accessible since the lot is directly across the street near Trader Joe's and Best Buy and there are multiple levels where you can park. Elevators are also an option if you don't want to take the stairs. They open at 12 for lunch and I wasn't sure if they would be busy so I made a reservation since I was treating a friend to lunch for her birthday and I was on my lunch break. I entered at exactly 12. No one was at the door when I came in but it didn't take long for them to arrive. I was the only customer inside. No one else was there. I told the hostess I had a reservation and was waiting for a friend to arrive. She was parking her car. They brought out complimentary nuts and water so I ordered wings for us while I waited for her to arrive. She arrived right after me and we both looked at the menu but had a few questions so we called the server over. There was no bartender available and our server didn't know how to make cocktails plus there're was no alcohol available. We asked about a glass of wine but our server was not familiar with the wine list or its availability. The server said they were out of supplies to make cocktails. So we opted out of the wine. We had questions about a couple of items on the menu (sauces, spices, soup of the day etc. ) Our server had to consult with someone in the back for most of the questions as she hadn't tried the dishes yet and wasn't familiar. We ended up ordering something we were somewhat familiar with. It took a while for the food to come out but almost everything was on the table with the exception of the sweet potatoes. When the food arrived, it appeared to be either over cooked, over salted/seasoned, not fresh or not what was expected. The wings were good but overly salted. The macaroni and cheese was overcooked. The field pea mafé had good flavor but was overcooked and not fresh. The sweet potatoes were good but they had a flavor I was unfamiliar with. Almost like a Caribbean taste to them. The chicken sandwich had coleslaw that appeared to be old. So my friend didn't add it to her sandwich but she liked the chips that came with the sandwich. The flowers that were on the table were in stale water and appeared to be leftover from the event earlier this week. I'm not sure when this restaurant opened but my suggestion would be to familiarize the staff with the menu and have ingredients on hand to serve drinks and prepare fresh dishes. If not, this place will not survive. We had to ask the server for our bill and my hour lunch lasted an hour and a half and there were only five tables including us in the entire restaurant. We left at 1:28pm. I'm not sure if I want to give them a second chance. I read other reviews and it seems clear that they have a great chef but this wasn't my experience today. I would hate to see how long it would have taken us to eat lunch if the restaurant were busy. Maybe the chef wasn't there today just like there was no bartender and who ever was in the kitchen was filling in but they need a little more work. This restaurant is directly across from two major stores. They should have been busier. Now I understand why they weren't.

The food is so tasty. You can tell they put lots of thoughts into the ambiance, dishes tastes are delicious. I encourage service to be increased and servers trained a little bit more, wish they were a little bit more attentive instead of me having to search for my server. It took forever to get my drink maybe a half hour after I ordered it. I had to go find my server to follow up on the drink. I purchased a drink, (one of the signature cocktails with bourbon) at an event that was held at the restaurant and it was way too strong. It was all liquor no favor. I could not taste any other flavor if there was supposed to be any. It was supposed to include blueberry fig liqueur, and a walnut syrup. It was a signature cocktail so maybe they need to work out the kinks. I want to give them another try hopefully the service will change.

First time here, but I am a big fan of the Colliers. We had two distinctly separate experiences during this one visit. Food: Outstanding and innovative. Service: Convoluted and much to be desired. If you have the time and patience, please go for the food. This restaurateur duo continues to get that right, whatever it is. But the service at this restaurant left me baffled. We were seated right away and the same person who seated us took our order. Was he the host or waiter? I'm thinking host because our order was wrong from top to bottom. A different person served us for the remainder of the night, but he seemed clueless about our actual orders. We'd ordered cocktails that still hadn't come by the time our entrees arrived. When we asked him about them, he was unaware that we had drinks and we had to reorder by describing to him the drink ingredients (why not just bring us a menu?). Desserts- delicious but not what we ordered. Collard greens? Probably amazing but they never came out. I could go on but I won't. Front of house needs some serious attention but the kitchen certainly knows what they're doing. 5 stars for food. 1 star for service. I'll round up to 3 stars.

Quick friendly service, reasonable prices, quiet and attractive atmosphere for a lunch conversation, and exceptional food. What more can you ask for in a restaurant? Met a friend for lunch. He ordered the soup special - carrot curry and I took a bite. It was so good, I ordered a take-out for my wife and I to have at home that night. My friend and I got the fried catfish po'boy sandwiches. Catfish was fried to perfection. Sauce had just the right touch of tangy flavor. Great hand made chips. Highly recommend everyone in the Charlotte area give it a try.
