They make reservations not for a specific time, but for the next available lane. They send an SMS, and if you don't arrive within 10 minutes, they give the lane to someone else. We arrived within 10 minutes, but the host was assisting someone before us, and by the time it was our turn, she claimed we were late and had already given our reservation to someone elseOverall, the place deserves a rating of three stars at best

Such a fun place! A game averages around $10, but Wednesday night college kids play for free and just pay for the shoe rentals which is $5! They have a full bar as well as kitchen so you can enjoy drinks and food while you bowl too! Such cool lighting and bay seating- a must attend in boone!

I came to the establishment to enjoy a night out with my husband and Dad. This was a great choice! I loved that because it was after 6:00 p.m. the lights were dimmed and it was kind of like glow in the dark bowling. The food smelled amazing and there was a completely stocked bar. The staff was very helpful and consider it and the establishment was very clean and neat. If you ever look for a cheap outing, I would definitely recommend coming here because it is enjoyable but also won't break the bank.

I like High Country Lanes. But I also love bowling. This is the only bowling alley in Boone, and perhaps in Watauga and surrounding counties. That said, if you want to bowl, this is the place to come. There are 16 lanes, and I've never had to experience a wait. 10 High Country Lanes serves both food and beer. There are local options for beer, which is neat, but the variety isn't grand (but hey, it's a bowling alley!) You can eat and drink at your lane (i.e., the tables) or in the bar area or outdoor patio, weather dependent, of course. There's darts to play in the bar area and sometimes corn hole on the patio. For serious league-level bowlers, the lanes and aren't exactly the best or up to par with PBA standards. The pins don't always reset right, and on more than one occasion I've had to switch lanes completely for this to be rectified (although it was completed pretty quickly without attitude from the staff and our scores were transferred to the new TV so that previous work wasn't lost). The prices to bowl here are certainly affordable, and I think they beat most other bowling alleys I've been to in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The best part about this bowling alley are the specials. It seems they have different ones every week: Man Cave Mondays and Family Night on Mondays, Teen Night on Tuesdays, College Night on Wednesdays, Ladies Night on Thursdays, Unlimited Bowling on Fridays, and Big Lebowski Sundays. Each special has its own unlimited bowling deals, food, and drinks specials. Check their website for specifics: https://highcountrylanes.com/specials/. I also love the corn hole, dart, and bowling tournaments they host here. I think this alley is really trying to get the community involved! Only to be fair, I think I must mention this: I've met some people in the Boone area who have had bad experiences with this this bowling alley, so much so, that they actually boycott going there. I do believe the common theme with people who had such negative experiences was related to the change of management a couple years back. I'm not sure that I've ever had a bad or horrible experience here, but I can also say that the employees don't particularly go above and beyond to offer friendly service. To me, it doesn't matter. I'm just there to bowl. I say, try it out yourself and see what you think!

WOW I'm not from the area but this bowling alley was fantastic! Probably the best I've ever been to. It's small but mighty - it has seats that are cleverly designed as ski lift chairs, a great selection of bar food and cold served drinks, and a nice group of young kids working. We were there on a Sunday night and caught a cosmic bowling shift and they were playing some straight jams! They even have ski ball, darts, and some classic arcade games. Facilities were well kept, too. Really couldn't fault anything, such an awesome place.

I love it here, Nichelle was my bartender and was so nice and made me feel so welcome, but the other lady bartender was obviously rude, to the customers and the other staff. we watched her roll her eyes multiple times at both the customers and other staff, while Nichelle served us all with a smile and a laugh. There are times when you need to at least fake a smile for the customers, but if she's being that hostile with customers around, I can't imagine how she treats other staff when guests aren't around.

My family and I are staying in a cabin in the area and wanted something to do during a rainy Wednesday night. We found this place on Yelp and decided to call. We found out Wednesday's is $12 unlimited bowling and free shoes after 9pm, so we took advantage of the deal. We got there around 845 but they couldn't get us in until 9pm on the dot - they said we had to wait to get the pricing. This was a little weird but not a huge deal, our party of 7 went to the bar and got some drinks. The server at the bar was super cute and nice, her service was outstanding. We got all checked in and we really enjoyed the game. The lane messed up a couple of times but I think this happens at most bowling alleys. It was an easy fix both times. We kept ordering food and pitchers, I got a root beer float which was amazing, and our server brought it all to us instead of having us wait for it to be made which was nice. We tipped her a few bucks every time and she seemed to appreciate that, so if you plan to eat and drink while you bowl I would encourage you to bring some ones for tipping. Unlimited Bowl goes from 9pm-1am and we stayed the whole time. It was fun and the music was great - with the option to buy credits and pick your own song. We really enjoyed our time here!

Good place if you're looking for somewhere to have fun in the local area here in Boone. Good for kids, groups, and surely parties. The exterior doesn't show it would be all that nice; however, looks can be deceiving! I would recommend if you're looking for some good old fun. 4.3 stars for sure.
