Chandler's Oceanfront Dining

Normally I prefer local, independent restaurants, but Chandler's delivered from a food perspective. My Smoked Salmon & Egg Pizza ($18) was excellent. Flatbread would be a better description. The capers and fresh dill really set it off! Leftovers were great, too. 3 minutes in the air fryer at 320. We shared a Roasted Shishitos & Brussels Sprouts ($15) Huge portion that also had cashews mixed in. It could certainly be a meal for two. Very tasty and vegetarian. Too many other places needlessly spoil this dish with some kind of meat. View is of course great. A little shocking that they ran out of Bloody Mary mix on a summer weekend? Service was pleasant, but honestly slow, and they didn't seem busy. Not unrelated was the fact that we exceeded our 2 hours of free parking, so I had to pay a $10 penalty. Can't stand that when I'm already a paying customer. Something to keep in mind when planning a return trip.

I came here for brunch last Sunday with a group of friends and it was a disaster! There were 10 of us, and the wait staff seemed overwhelmed by the size of our party. Each of us took our turn ordering, and the server went down the row in either side of the table (we didn't jump around). Food took forever to arrive, and when it was finally delivered to our table, our orders got mixed up, delivered to the wrong person. Many of us got each other's order by mistake.I ordered the crab cakes benedict with a side salad. I requested salad dressing on the side so I could control the amount of dressing. Sadly, I had the following issues with my dish:1. The eggs were not poached correctly. They were a soft boil instead of having a runny yolk.2. The 2 tiny crab cakes were inconsistently seasoned. Both were dry (over fried), but one was flavorless while the other was extremely salty.3. I received no dressing for my salad. The mixed greens were also wilted and not fresh.4. My dish was missing chives on top of the eggs (everyone else had chives on theirs).5. The crab cakes were cold.Four of us ordered the crab cakes benedict and all 4 of us had issues with our dish. When we mentioned the eggs to the manager, she replaced the soft boiled eggs with the properly poached eggs, but they were delivered to us in a bowl with water. It would have been nice if they had drained the eggs. We appreciated the replacement though.We mentioned the inconsistent crab cakes, but there was no offer to fix them.For the ladies who did not order crab cakes, they also had problems with their dish. The lobster hash was cold. The French toast with a side of bacon was missing the bacon and the small maple syrup jar was nearly empty, there was barely enough.A carafe of coffee was delivered to the table, but there was a delay in bringing the creamer and sugar. The coffee was cold by the time the creamer and sugar arrived at the table. There was a delay in bringing out more hot coffee. Empty water glasses were never replenished.Overall, we received very poor service. Our main server was extremely rude. We had the impression that because we were a large party, the 20% gratuity was a guarantee and already included in our tab so the server simply did not care. She threw the bill on our table, rolled her eyes, and walked off. Well guess what?!?! I had the 20% gratuity removed. Large party or not, we're not paying 20% gratuity for crappy service! Here's a tip: Don't show up to work with an attitude if you expect good tip. Nothing is guaranteed.The food was bad and the service was even worse. It's such a shame, because the restaurant was beautiful and had a beautiful view of the beach.There is a parking garage that offers free parking for the first 2 hours, but if you dine at the restaurant, your parking ticket can be validated. Well they didn't validate our tickets. With all of the delays and endless waiting, we were at the restaurant for 3.5 hours! Instead of validating our tickets, they told us to hit the "help" button and someone at the front desk will open the gate. We pushed the button at least 10 times before they opened the gate.This was a dining nightmare! I expected more from what appeared to be a fine establishment.

Just enjoyed an incredible dinner created by Chef Ryan. The tuna was cooked to perfection, and my kids both inhaled their food, and said "it was the best food ever"! Our server Jose was THE BEST!!! Me & my mom were wowed by his customer service. He was so warm & friendly, and was the one who actually introduced us to the Chef, Ryan. My kids LOVED that so much, and thought it was really cool - not to mention, probably made Ryan's day! Overall a 10/10 between excellent food & incredible service!

Love eating the dishes served at Chandler's. The beet salad & braised short ribs are our favorite. It is a farm to table style dining & I love that! The menu has some items that are highlights of that are only offered that day. We like the energy of the restaurant and that It is a family dining and/or Fun bar atmosphere. Our server was detailed and the food came out quickly. The view is of beautiful Carlsbad and we continue to love this place.

Went here for our anniversary dinner while we stayed in the Hilton hotel where this restaurant is and loved the overall experience. Not cheap but worth it. Overall I would recommend this place if expense is not a thing for you.Here are my takes:Food/Drinks: Food tastes great. We ordered a bunch if things and nothing tasted bad or below average.Service: Very sweet server and overall staff was very nice. Everything was quick and organized from the order to the delivery.Ambiance: Ocean facing dining and plenty of outdoor indoor seating with nice decor. Worth for a romantic dinner needs.Hygiene: No complaints at all. Everything was top notch.Price: We spend some $250+ that night and can say it is not average or reasonable. It about experience here. I would not go here every day but wouldn't mind being here on special occasions.

Located inside the Cape Rey Hilton property, this is a beautifully situated restaurant with ocean views from the outdoor patio and bar. They had a beautiful shrimp cesear salad and crab cake app. It's a pricey hotel option but certainly a nice place to enjoy a lunch or a sunset dinner. The service is fine. Nothing notable to say other than our needs were met which is just fine. Thank you for creating such a nice ambian

Love the aesthetic of this oceanfront restaurant located on the Cape Rey Hilton Resort in Carlsbad. The service was impeccable. We were seated very quick from our 8:15 reservation. Hostess was very pleasant. Food presentation was amazing! Quality The Caesar salad had a little twist with all the mixed greens. I would prefer a traditional style. Overall experience superb!

Good food, and service staff were very friendly. I enjoyed having breakfast there. I particularly loved their Jamaican Coffee, laced with rum. I also loved their Oat Meal. Ask for it if you don't see it on the menu.

Having arrived in the early evening I elected to dine here as it was close to the hotel we were staying and I was hopeful that we would see the sunset. While we missed the setting sun we did manage to have an excellent dinner. Our waiter was very accommodating, patient and had a touch of humor that made the night splendid. The cocktails were delightful - my favorite was the spicy Mexican martini. It was light and bright with a little kick. The food was equally as delightful. I ate the oysters and they were fresh and marvelous. The tuna was amazing - it was cooked perfectly, as in very little, and had the best flavor and texture. I was most pleased. The rice equally was as good being perfectly al dente but not too tough. The ambiance was fine - low lighting made it slightly hard to read the menu. It had a very laid back feel. I enjoyed my time here!

Chandlers Oceanfront Dining is inside Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach resort, a Hilton Resort. So expect a lot of hotel guests and vacationers. We parked in the resort self park garage. Make sure you ask the hostess for a validation stamp when you arrive. Anyone eating at Chandler's gets free parking. We had reservations, thanks smart boyfriend. So we got seated at the ocean view table immediately. It was an amazing view. The clouds and an overcast layer minimized the sunset, but it was picturesque all the same. The view looked like it was a painting. Amazing. We ordered two dishes, the Coastal Brodetto and the Baja Fried Chicken. Their Brodetto is similar to a Cioppino, but much less soupy and much more dense flavors. Seems like they reduced the liquid. It was similar to a heavy red sauce, each bite packed with flavor. Lots of seafood, but it seemed smaller than I expected. But the heavy flavors make you full quickly and you may barely finish the dish. The Baja Fried Chicken is dark meat chicken, pounded flat and fried like a schnitzel. It is very fried, some hopefully you still have a gallbladder. My boyfriend loved it. I avoid fried food, but I did accept the big sample & ate the whole piece. Yummy. While we were there, the sweet waitress accidentally spilled a champagne on a lady at the next table. I saw the whole thing. The other drinks stayed planted firmly on the tray resting on her arm. The champagne, probably top heavy, just rolled off, as if a secret wisp of air blew it, and nothing else, off the tray. Drama! I felt bad for the recipient of the champagne on her clothes and chair, but she handled it with grace. And probably a free champagne! It was otherwise a serene experience. Overall the experience was amazing and exceeded my expectations. This restaurant is a treasure, the food is great and the view is spectacular.
