Not at all acceptable and will definitely want my money back for far inferior product from Friday. Also a misrepresentation of both species. I'll be calling to discuss this. I'm in no mood to have to argue my points. I guess that's about it for COP.

I've been hearing good things about this place for a long time and I finally made a trip there this weekend. We got there right at 10am when the store opened. There were a few people lined up. Upon entering the store, en emplyee told us they are not opened yet but it's ok to go in because people are already inside. Their published business hours on Sunday is 10am - 3pm so I didn't quite understand her comments and felt it was unneccesary. "Welcome to our store" would have been nice? Quick glance at the fish on display, I was already disappointed as I didn't see sashimi saku blocks and selection was not great. I went ahead and ordered sashimi grade big eye tuna and salmon. We brought them home in a cooler with ice. When I took out tuna from the package, I noticed that the edge of the piece was gray. I trimmed it and threw them away. It also had a skin and fish scale. Yikes! It had a strange taste to it and after a couple of slices we stopped eating and threw away the rest. I was scared that we are going to get sick. Luckly we didn't, but very disappointed in the quality. Salmon was flavorless.Staff was nice and helpful however.

Sooo, the management takes a stance, in their reply to me, that basically, they have seen other reviews for other restaurants, that I have posted and that my diet, according to their assessment, isn't pescatarian. WTF are they looking as my reviews, as a means to reply to my concerns? I didn't ask them to do that, and I certainly don't appreciate it. If I wanted to get beef products, I would go to a real butcher shop, like Iowa Meats or Siesel's. They keep digging themselves deeper in a hole. Don't look at my posts to answer your business model. Look at my comments TO YOU. I have been shopping there, weekly, for roughly 14 years. I know most every employee there. That is, until the business was purchased, by a butcher, which is oddly telling, because they've butchered their business. Their business model is "catering to all palates." Please, bring me some durian.

Great and fresh place! They have a huge area in the back where they process freshly caught fish. When I was there, I got fresh uni and different types of freshly prepared seafood like ahi sushi, fish ceviche and shrimp and scallop aguachile (which is like a type of ceviche) They also had many types of fresh seafood and even high quality beef like rib eye. The uni, the main reason why I was there, was delicious, better than the Asian markets, fresher and tastier. The premade seafood was also very good, freshly made that morning. They do have a place to sit and eat, which I did and they have all the utensils and sauces there. Will definitely go back! Oh, they are also very helpful and make recommendations depending on your preferences!

Located near the Mission Bay Area, I stopped by on my way home from the park. While it's a market, there are some prepared items that could be purchased and enjoyed right away like the poke or seaweed salad. Be prepared to buy fish and sashimi it yourself. Nothing is pre cut for you but it stays fresher that way. I came to check out the Uni which is sold in tray for $34.99 for $14.99 a lb for the live uni.Location wise, it's nestled in a cul-de-sac off Morena. It's got a private lot for parking. Walking in you'll see a small market, they sell condiments, bottled drinks, local products such as special salt, oyster in a tin, and sushi preparing items. They had some unique butters and some sturgeon caviar that's available as well. You can conveniently purchase anything you need to prepare a seafood dinner including lemons as most of those ingredients are there. There are also two large refrigerators that sell frozen odds and end cuts for $5 a lb. We got the blue fin tuna, oysters from sea of Cortez, and poke which was a mix of tuna and salmon pieces. No chopsticks or soy sauce is provided. But no problem, we ate it at home and it made a delicious lunch. Everything tasted fresh. Not a lot of shell fish items, there was a tank of rock crab and mussels and oysters in ice. If you're not going straight home, bring a small cooler bag and ice.I will be back when I am craving some fresh oysters or poke.

Thank u Catalina for your non fishy fish! So, I don't eat fish normally because a small hint of fishiness is detectable to me and ruins the meal for me. Recently I was introduced to some fish/method of cooking that I liked and a friend recommended this place as a really good place to get fresh fish so I thought I'd try and replicate this. Success! They were super helpful and gave me a few options of fish I might try. Both were good. I'm not familiar with the fish world but it was a little expensive to me, roughly $15 a filet (half a pound). But worth it to have fresh fish. I will definitely go back and recommend this place.

Hands down the source of truth for best seafood in San Diego. This isn't a restaurant, but they do serve a la carte items, poke, ceviche, etc. What is the best is the A+++++++ quality of the fish they serve. I always order the local ahi and the New Zealand salmon. I take it home (in a cooler with ice) and transform it into poke. The taste and freshness is astonishing. VASTLY superior to dedicated spots, even the greats such as Blue Water, It's Raw, HFS.The market is also pretty strong, they have a variety of sauces, wine, and even uni for sale on the side. The staff is knowledgable, warm and friendly. I typically come around 11am-12pm at lunch and it's never ever crowded.Cheers to the best.

Catalina Offshore Products is the 8th Wonder Of The World. We are so lucky here in San Diego, CA to have such an outstanding resource for high quality Seafood and Grass Fed Beef, all under the same roof. They source fresh, high quality fish and seafood of all kinds and Grass Fed Beef that is the best quality I've ever found. That sounds like a bold statement but as a seasoned chef it is my absolute lucky stars to have such gorgeous products near by. Kelly is the highlight of our visits, her fun personality is part of the great shopping experience, Thank You All!

Worst uni ever from Chili. Tastes very fishy leaving a nasty taste in my mouth. The cashier did say it was not sweet and texture was more crunchy than melt in your mouth. Never mention how fishy this type of uni was. Called to tell them that the uni wasn't sellable but she replied the owners tried it and they said it was good. ******* Do not buy their uni from Chili******
