Carlsbad Bakery

1. Marzipan balls. Covered with chocolate. Almond flavor. But def overwhelming sweet with covered chocolate 2. Almond croissant was hard and stale unfortunately. And filling on covered 1/4 of the croissant. 3. Chocolate chip cookie. Very dense with lots of milk chocolate chips on top. Overall disappointing bakery. Lady who helped me was direct and to the point. I asked for details about each prior to purchasing and explanations were minimal

We bought 2 slices of tomato quiche and a large pastry with raisins on May 25, 2024. Sadly, all food items were devoid of taste. I was surprised and disappointed with the lack of flavor. And frustrated that we spent $29 for low food quality. I do not recommend Carlsbad Bakery. Years ago, when this location was operated by a different owner the pastries were wonderful.P.S. To the owner, I do not give only 1 star reviews. (See my review bar chart attached.) I don't heat bakery items in a microwave.

There are a lot of bakeries around Carlsbad but let's cut to the chase as to which is the best...it's the Carlsbad Bakery hands down.Located in a small strip mall off the main road of Carlsbad Village Drive in downtown Carlsbad this European bakery is as staple of the community for the past 40 years.This is no frills ambience as when you walk through the door you are greeted by friendly service and the delightful aroma of danish pastries and other sweets.For first timers try their cinnamon custard coffee cake. It's an actual item that doesn't just say cinnamon but has a very strong presence and makes for a great treat any time of the day as flavorful and dense. Be sure to try it before it sells out for the day.

Great pastries! I've come here a couple times and it's always hard to choose which pastry to get. This morning, I got the chocolate croissant and took it on my walk to the beach. The layers of the croissant were perfect, but what I liked most was the amount of chocolate inside!

With a warm and inviting atmosphere this shop is filled with tempting treats. I especially love the Copenhagen squares, almond croissant and cruffin filled with Nutella.Talented baker giving us a taste of Heaven on earth!

UPDATE on my review:I wrote the below review and the owner Pierre, wrote to make things right. I guess there are two sizes and by mistake, I was charged for the large slice. Wow, what a truly good businessman. He insisted on refunding me since they were out of more rainbow cakes for today. I wanted more to take home to Phoenix but next time. It is an amazing bakery. So delicious! Thank you Pierre!!! I swear I've left a review before and can't find it. I gave it a 5 star rating in the past even the last time I was here 4 months ago. Unfortunately, I give it 4 stars. Why? Same amazing flavors. Very friendly engaging staff. Same fantastic rainbow cake,,,,but,,,,HALF the size for same price! Of course I still got two slices but disappointed about the size. Will I be back next visit? Likely. It's an addiction I have with that almond flavored rainbow cake. It's like an Italian rainbow cookie on steroids! lol Give them a try. They have so much to offer. I got a half chocolate covered coconut macaroon along with my order. I'll keep you posted on how good it is.

What a nice surprise! Not a fancy place but the pasteries were delightful. We tired the croissants and they were delicate, airy, buttery and delish. The mocha we ordered just tasted like hot chocolate (very sweet) so it was just okay. I would go back again and try others items.

I use to buy cookies and pastries almost weekly to bring to my clients. Everyone loved them. I was part of a layoff but next job - I will be back for client goodies. Very nice husband and wife team do all the baking and service. Support them. Great croissants!

A hidden gem! Exquisite French viennoiserie alongside traditional American bakery fare like muffins and cupcakes. The flakey, buttery layers in the croissants and cruffin were the best I've eaten outside of France (and I get around). We stopped for breakfast as we were leaving the coast. We shared a savory, warmed croissant filled with mushrooms, brie, and spinach and we each ate a Nutella 'cruffin' -- buttery, laminated croissant dough shaped in a muffin tin and stuffed with Nutella. Alongside the delicious Lavazza coffee, it made an excellent breakfast. Afterwards, we went back inside to order 4 more items to bring home to the desert. I've not found croissant to compare anywhere in the Coachella Valley. The ambiance is a bit of a mom and pop beach dive - clean and cozy - and the food is the absolute star.

Service was okay but the so called apple strudel was the worst I've ever had. Besides being under cooked, lacking normal sweetness & cinnamon it was not enjoyable in the least. Try something else it would have to be better. FYI I've had dozens of apple strudel most were great this one can't be recommended.
