I'm giving Carlos & Carlos 4 stars because I really love the food. Absolutely great Italian food. You get huge portions for the price and everything tastes fresh. But, there is no way I can give 5 stars due to the service. Granted, I came here on Mother's Day so the restaurant was busier than usual. But, we were sat inside because the outside seating was completely full. The servers were mainly tending to the people that were outside and seemingly forgot about us. We didn't seem to have a server for our table and had to actually grab a random person from the staff to come take our order after sitting and waiting for 30 minutes. After we got our food, again it was hard to get someone to give us the bill. I hesitate to come here again because of this ordeal but perhaps it was just a busy day, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt - especially because the food is so great.

We've always walked by this place but never actually gone in and I'm glad we did. To begin with, the second you step foot in Carlos & Carlos you are instantly transported out of Arlington Heights and into a small Italian restaurant in New York. The smells, the vibe, the quaintness. It's very small but that really adds to the charm. It was also Saturday night at 7pm so it was pretty loud. This didn't bother us. We were immediately seated and ordered the Barolo to try, which is a wine I think is excellent value for what you get. The olive tapenade that comes with the fresh bread is outstanding. The waiter recommended Spaghetti and Snapper, so we went with that. The Snapper was very good. The Spaghetti and meatballs were A+ and would definitely be back just for that. Decided to end with a slice of tiramisu which was also a home run. I think this place is somewhere between a 4 and a 5 but it checked too many boxes for me to give it a 4.5 stars for me. Give Carlos & Carlos a try today, perfect for date night.

I'm not sure how this restaurant has a total rating of 4.4 but after this past Saturday night, I feel like it should be -1 out of 5 at most. Food was bad, only good items that were decent were the complimentary bread and the black pasta. Food took 1.5 hrs which is unacceptable for a $$ restaurant. Maybe if it was higher end and a Michelin star, I can understand a little. I've been to many Michelin and omakase restaurants, and the service and food are always superb. The lamb chops were horrendously butchered. We asked for medium rare and it came out well-done. First time, I experienced anything above medium rare for lamb chops. It was way too chewy. Veal porterhouse was slightly better, it was cooked medium rare. However, it could have been juicier, a little dry in some spots. The pasta with scampi was way too salty. Service was nonexistent. Water refilled once. After they dropped off the food, they never came back to ask how our food was. We didn't really know who was our waitress or waiter was because it was that terrible. After they finally cleared our plates, they had the audacity to ask if we wanted dessert. I would highly recommend skipping this restaurant if you're in the area or just grab pizza nearby. This place is garbage. Oh btw for some reason they were out of dinner plates, so they gave us 3 tiny plates.

I love this place for great food, drinks. It's the best Mexican food in Arlington HeightsIt is so nice to have the outdoor dining as well.

We LOVE LOVE this place. Have been going for years and tonight was our 25th anniversary so we decided to go to our favorite restaurant. It's always a treat!The wonderful owners are always friendly and accommodating. The bread with the butter and olive spread just heavenly. Pasta is homemade. So many great tasting entrees to choose from. The Bar can make anything and the service always attentive.It really is my first choice for a great night out, especially in the lively downtown Arlington Hts. restaurant area. I can't say enough great things about this special place.

I have been to Carlos & Carlos in Arlington Heights twice in the past week. The same experience both times. The food is quite good and the outdoor seating is nice; but, the service is not good. We were pushed to order more food, more drinks, dessert, etc. and the server was not friendly at all. We will not be returning.

Absolutely loved this place! We had the ROASTED BEET SALAD, LINGUINI PESCATORE, GNOCCHI DI CASA with no sundried tomatoes and glasses of the Paso Robles wine. The bread with butter and Oliver tapenade was phenomenal. Our server was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

Although they don't take reservations, the wait is worth it, the service is always top notch & they will make off menu Italian specials.

I had the worst experience at Carlos and Carlos. My pasta was inedible and had to literally spit it out in my napkin. Our server (Pedro) who was extremely rude came back and saw my entire plate full because it was that bad. I told him I did not like it and he kept asking me why- I told him multiple times I didn't like the taste and handed him the dish.Another serve came back out and brought me back the pasta. Once again- I went through the same conversation with him and he kept asking me why I didn't like it.Yep, you guessed a third server came back out with the pasta again and I also had to go through the same ordeal.Lastly, the manager came and spoke with us and I explained to him that I wasn't even looking to get the meal take off the bill- I just did not want the food -period-. He finally understood because I had to show him my spit up food in my napkin.This was unacceptable behavior and horrible service. This is not how you treat a customer and the fact that it took 3 servers and a manager to understand that I did not like the my meal was ridiculous

They get 2 stars because the food is good, other than that * Be prepared to wait tor service foreeever *Be prepared to wait for food forever *Once you place your order you will never see your waitress or waiter again ! Not even for your bill ! Asking about food and refills or anything ! Just like the waitress said to us "once I leave I leave " and we heard her said that to more than one table !! Horrible service ! We had to go and get our to go boxes ourselves We had to get up and find her to pay our bill and she just said Give me the cc! Omg ! Incredible lack of service Also when you walk in, is so confusing on where to go for you to get sitting But because of the absolutely lack of customer service is why we are not going back again NO ACCEPTABLE PERIOD
