Captain Hook's of Roosevelt & Central

This place was okay; good service, and prepared food fairly quickly (12 min). Everyone claims their neighborhood chicken & fish place is THE BEST, but I tell you, this one is just a solid 3 star. The fried breading was heavy on the oil and SUPER heavy on the salt, and the chicken itself wasn't the freshest. When I bit into each piece, it was very unlikely you wouldn't catch a bone/cartelidge, and the meat itself was noticeably on the rubbery side. In terms of service... It was a one-man show in the front of the store. She did a great job though, answering call after call of orders, including answering all kinds of customer questions like from people trying to get cheaper prices. Meanwhile she's taking payments and checking out a line of 5+ people. This was ~6 PM on a weekday, seemingly normal (but high) demand. Management needs to staff up, because even though she was doing an incredible job, that's way too much to demand of one human being! Overall, just a 3-star kinda place tho. I wouldn't say go out of your way here; Golden Hook a mile or two north and east is far better.

Food is great. (As usual). What's unusual was the service this time around. I called and ordered at 508pm, was told 15-20 minutes. No problem, takes about the long to get there anyways. Now usually my hubby goes in, waits a few minutes and food is done. I arrived at 528pm (I know bc I had a phone call come through as I got out the car). Popped up front gave my name and paid. Added the taffy apple grapes bc they are amazing.... And then waited. And waited. And waited. 1 person was in the store before me, his 50 pc came out. Mine must be next right? Someone comes in, picks up the 50 boneless just like I ordered. Someone else places a fish order... it comes out. At 557 pm, the girl working the front says "oops, we must have missed your order." Had to wait ANOTHER 20 minutes for my food to take to the get together... that I had ordered an hour and 10 minutes prior to receiving. I did get a free 16oz drink "for my trouble" though Food was good, service stank.

Whenever I have a taste for some fried Catfish with lemon pepper I always come and get it from this location. I have tried other Captain Hook's and it wasn't my cup of tea. In the beginning I was a bit hesitate coming to this location but so far, it's been cool. This place is always packed with people especially on Sunday's. You can call ahead and place your order so you don't have to wait long. It is located in a strip mall over in the corner next to T-Mobile. One lady that works there seems to always have a tad bit of an attitude but the other one is very welcoming and friendly. They are pretty fast with your order depending on what you order or if you want your chicken or fish fried good and crispy. My Catfish is always cooked fresh and crispy to perfection. The fries are a bit dry tasting and too hard. The prices are reasonable for a quick meal on the go. They even have a $5.00 special menu which isn't bad for the amount of food. There are even 2 small Flat Screen T.V's locate on each side to watch while waiting on your food. There is never a dull moment in this place waiting on your food to be cooked. There is even a guy seating at one of the tables selling DVD movies and Music CD's.

Smh so the hours say 12am is when they close I walk in at 1125pm to place an order for some gyro cheese fries nothing complex and apparently they aren't taking orders?? 1- why do the hours say 12a if you stop taking orders before then?2-why is the business open and available like customers are able to walk in and place orders if that's not possible Really a shame got to do better guess I'll be going to nickys lol

Got a huge order of wings and were ready within ten minutes. I was attended well, chicken was good. Good experience!

I am happy with the flavor but I am not happy with this piss poor execution of a filling meal. Getting a baby hand full of fries is not satisfying with half cups of sauce. Which is what really pissed me off. Clearly I have to order the sauce on it so I am not scrapping the bottom of baby plastic cups and it probably still won't be enough.

We tried them on a recommendation. The staff was on point. We were happy with our 21 piece talapia and 21 piece catfish. Both came with fries at 39.99 each and were ready on time. Delicious. I resisted the butter cookies but next time I am getting them.

Food has no lemon pepper at all after I said extra lemon pepper please, this is the second time this happens. Food had no taste, fries were super soggy and not fully cooked.

Stopped here to pick up dinner for the family. I must say since moving to the area, I've frequented this location several times so far. The food continue to be consistent. I always order chicken wings, fried hard with mild sauce. I appreciate the fact that they also sell mild sauce by the cup so you can purchase extra. My grandma has had their fried perch and catfish and have enjoyed both. I don't eat seafood so I just take her word for it. It can be busy in here so ordering ahead would be s good idea. Customer service is ok. I haven't had a bad experience but not a great experience either. They do their job. No muss. No fuss. I have no complaints about it. I think this place is a good alternative to Harold's or Uncle Remus. Notice I said alternative...not replacement!

Rude customer service, simply called and asked if they delivered and her tone changed up like she ain't want to take the order then when I was about to say "let me get a 2 pans" the little girl cuts me off to say you can call back when you ready to order" why would I cal if I wasn't ready to order? Rude for what???
