My boyfriend and I eat here all the time! We ended up finding this restaurant after getting tired of going to Joe's barbecue and having the food be inconsistent almost every single time. When we first started coming to the restaurant ribs were not on the menu, but once they put the ribs on the menu that changed everything for us. Caldwell county Mexi-Q 's ribs put any other barbecue place that we've been to here in Arizona to absolute SHAME! We also love their chili Mac & Cheese and Grandma's Calabcitas! The barbecue sauces are all great and their Mexican food is just as good as the barbecue options. The restaurant is small but it's nice and clean and there's a large outdoor area ... recently they just added blended margaritas to the menu which are very affordable. There's always a bunch of young men in the kitchen taking orders and cooking the food and they always give fabulous service. Give this place a try!!

The original Caldwell County BBQ is arguably my favorite barbecue spot in the Phoenix Metro Area. Perhaps that's why I was so disappointed with Caldwell County Mexi-Q. It had been on my list for a long time so I finally tried it out... and I will not be returning. The customer service was fast and friendly, but the food was quite regrettable.I was looking forward to getting a Brisket Dog, but then upon walking in, I noticed hot dogs are not on the menu. I ended up ordering the Dixie V Brisket Sandwich which came with an individual side. I chose the Roasted Creamed Elote. I also added a Mexican-Q Twinkie (jalapeño popper) and a Smoked Carnitas Taco. I asked for an Arizona Gold BBQ Sauce and pickled onions as well, since I was taking this home to feast on.The sandwich - pretty dry brisket and not very flavorful. I had to add mayonnaise and hot sauce and BBQ sauce just to make it somewhat palatable. I barely got through it. The elote was the strangest take I've ever had on Mexican street corn. It didn't taste like it was made from fresh corn, but rather canned corn. And it had more of a bland gravy on it than a creamy, spicy, tangy sauce one would come to expect. I got almost no smoke from the smoked carnitas taco. The pickled onions I added had no vinegar flavor. I think they were simply brined in a dilute salt solution. And the Twinkie was practically inedible. Clearly it had all the seeds in it and so was an overly scorching single bite that I managed. The brisket sample I tried (and it was offered just as I was about to leave, with my order, strangely) had promise. It had a well-seasoned although fatty black pepper crust. I don't how the assembled dishes ended up being so bad. I honestly don't know how they managed to make an exciting meal into a forgettable overpriced Cafeteria-Mex (that's my term for lame Tex-Mex) experience.

1000/10OH MY TASTEBUDS!Barbecue HEAVEN is all I want to say but I'll give you guys more! My family and I got the mexi-q platter, this consisted of tender, juicy, brisket cooked to perfection. On this platter was also two birria quesatacos which were large in my opinion, compared to 90% of birria quesatacos these were enough to fill you up after just the two. Also included on the platter were three bacon-wrapped jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, they called these "mexi-q twinkies" I will be back just for these alone, it was a flavor explosion in my mouth, crunchy bacon with a warm soft filling and a spicy kick left lingering from the jalapeño. The two sides we chose were elote and beans, both were good, next time I'll ask for extra twinkies instead of the sides though. The brisket tostada was the last thing on the platter and was piled high with refried beans at the base, a mound of brisket and topped with crumbled cheese and pico. We are a family of five and couldn't finish everything so take that into consideration if it's just two people or three you might have some leftovers to take home! There was a sign up there that they cater and I will definitely be looking into having them cater any and every event I have in the days/months/years to come! PS I didn't get to take any photos because everyone was starving and dug into the food while I was getting our drinks but there are pictures already on their yelp page just go take a look! Everything they have pictured looked the same as what we experienced

we stopped by for dinner on 8/24/24 around 7pm because the hubby loves bbq but it's not my jam... however I am always down for Mexican so I figured why not try a cross between the two to satisfy us both and we were not disappointed! We ordered Julio's Mac n Cheese, the cheddar bird, a birria taco, church music and Dos Equis and our meal was so so reasonably priced and beyond delicious and worth the flavor. We had the pleasure of meeting Julio himself and he shared some secrets as I told him we were newly married and I've been testing my hand in the kitchen. It was overall such a sweet experience and the sunsets from the patio were something special! Definitely our new go to Mexican spot! Thanks Julio and team

This location used to be a hot dog place... the inside is small but they do have outside seating available with misters... they have your regular bbq items along with sides but they also tacos, burritos and tostadas.... I loved their Mac and cheese and their "Mexican Twinkie" which was stuffed with brisket... I will defin come back when in the area.

The word "fusion" doesn't really do this justice. Picture Caldwell County BBQ, which is some of the best in AZ, and meld it with absolutely delicious Mexican food dishes. You've got yourself Mexi-Q at its finest. The tacos are the way that I go here. Brisket, pulled pork, or the mouth-watering birria are all fair game. Be sure to ask for consomme on the side. It'll take whatever you order up a few notches. It'll also negate some of the spiciness if you prefer your dishes on the milder side. If you have kids that are picky eaters, they'll probably go for the side dishes. Choose from mac & cheese, beans, or elote (corn), which are all great choices. This is a not-so-hidden gem anymore. We came for Father's Day, and they had sold out of several meats but were still going strong with brisket all the way to the finish line. There's limited seating inside - it's mostly for ordering and picking up drinks. The patio is where it's at. It's thoughtfully laid out with ample seating, shade, and misters to keep customers cool year-round. There are long picnic-style tables, so it's great for larger groups and families who want to enjoy great food.I'm a fan. If you like good BBQ and Mexican food, I think you will be too.

Don't walk, RUN for delicious tacos! The best birria tacos ever. And because they are technically an extension of just the original Caldwell BBQ, their meat is fantastic and adds to the overall quality. We love their tostadas, tacos, and burritos. My son enjoys their kid's quesadilla and mac n' cheese! Everything here is honestly amazing - it'll become one of your favorite taco spots I promise. Their patio is large and has misters, so it's even fine to sit in the summer with your family.

My husband and I came here for his bday pick up. We ordered a birria burrito and it was very filling! Good amount of food to share with your partner. If it's your bday, show your ID to get a few bucks off your meal!

OMG where has this place been all my life? Never been here before but knew about it and live close. Tried it with my husband's coaxing and came back 2 days in a row, lol!Chicken tacos are the BEST with the pickled onions, fresh pico and delicious hot N' sweet sauce, YUM! Add in the frozen margarita and banana pudding and I'm sold. I'm moving in! Staff were responsive and checked on us after we started eating. The team seemed to really care about our experience. Sat outside at 3pm and the misters kept it surprisingly refreshing. I recommend this establishment and will most definitely be back! Thank you!
