Very average BYOB sushi place in Old Town. Pretty small on the inside, but does have outdoor seating as well. Our sushi was good, but nothing to write home about. We also tried the Japanese pancake, which was pretty good too. My favorite thing about this place was that it was BYOB so we were able to bring in bottles of wine free of charge. Really makes the experience better & was a great way to save money. Can't say I'm dying to go back here, but I would if the opportunity presented itself. Good place for a casual, affordable dinner.

Cafe Sushi impressed me with their delicious Chicken Katsu! The crispy coating perfectly complemented the tender chicken inside, creating a delightful harmony of textures. The dish was generously portioned, and the flavors were spot-on. The overall atmosphere of the cafe is inviting, and the friendly staff added to the positive experience. If you're a fan of Chicken Katsu or just looking for a great place with tasty Japanese cuisine, Cafe Sushi is a definite win!

The staff is always friendly. The food is alright. It definitely is not the best sushi that I have ever had and every roll tastes kind of the same. But I do love the gyoza! The garlic edamame was just lukewarm edamame with garlic powder on it which was kind of weird -- I would not get it again. I also did not like the calamari, but you win some and you lose some. I always feel like we get bigger portions when we dine in (in terms of sushi) and it's byob! Who doesn't love a good byob place! For two people -- two appetizers (one being edamame) and two rolls is a good sized portion. And you can always get a cookie or ice cream down the street if you're hungry after :)

Affordable rolls, lots of options, and tasty fish. This was a wonderful spot to get some sushi before seeing a comedy show up the street. The server gave us some recommendations, and he did not steer us wrong! The inside doesn't look like much, but the food is solid and the BYOB is a fun twist on the dining experience.

I have dined at Cafe Sushi and done take out on multiple occasions. I think it is the best sushi in the Wells Street corridor/Old Town area. The fish is always fresh and they have a good miso soup. The prices are higher than some of the hole in the wall sushi places in Lincoln park/Lakeview, but this isn't a hole in the wall place, it's a little more elevated. Cafe Sushi doesn't have a ton of veggie rolls, which I would appreciate more of. They are also fairly slow for take out and it usually takes longer than the duration they quote you on the phone.

Such a good selection of rolls here! Sushi tasted so fresh and the atmosphere is so fun since it's BYOB. Staff was awesome and the location is right on Wells Street so perfect dinner spot before going out!

The sushi here is fantastic! I ordered the California Maki and the Shrimp Tempura Maki and both were fresh, well hand-crafted and delicious! Nice presentation as well!I also ordered the Shrimp Tempura Appetizer which was also delicious.I was surprised that they did not offer Vegetable Tempura or Shrimp AND Vegetable Tempura mixed. Bummer. However, The Sushi Offerings are EXTENSIVE....The ambiance is quite romantic and there were many couples there on a "date night." The tables also had live candles on them and the tables were nicely spaced. The place was packed. It is BYOB so keep that in mind. They offer delivery and take out-as well as dine in as of December 2021.The location is in Old Town which can be challenging to find parking-but the restaurant is only a few blocks from the Division Street Red Line and the 36 and 22 Busses run parallel to Wells Street.

Best sushi in this part of Chicago. Between the BYOB, staff, and quality rolls, I'm a regular!

This place is delicious! Not sure why the reviews are so low. It is a good neighborhood sushi joint right in the heart of Old Town! Recommend doing BYOB - they charge a two dollar ice bucket surge charge, but no corkage fee.We got an assortment of sushi and maki rolls - would get all specialty rolls next time we come back.

One of the better sushi restaurants in Chicago - fish tasted so fresh. Quick turn around time for takeout on a Saturday night too
