Loaded Potato Tots:Different than i expected but not a bad thing. Hash browns formed into crispy squares instead of actually tots but still good flavor and texture a little light on toppings (ranch chive and bacon bits) would be the only critiqueCrispy Chicken Sandwich: The sauce had flavors of chile ancho so a bit spicy. Crispy breading and good sized portion.Egg sandwich: Flavor of the sauce was a much needed touch, cheese works well with dish. Very subtle flavoring in the sandwich overall.S'mores Croissant: More bread like than croissant Good outer crust but lacking layers from a true croissant. Generous amount of nutella marshmallow and chocolate filling.Staff were friendly and accommodating. Asked questions about special items on the menu and they were not hesitant to find answers to my questions.Location and layout of restaurant was cute and fun would like to come back.

It's better than good - Cafe Robey has an unassuming level of comfort that delivers both a sleek and homey design along with some very tasty food.Truth be told, not everyone in my party loved their dish as much as I did mine. Shrimp with Grits usually gets my attention and it was the star at our table. Perfectly cooked shrimp sits atop mascarpone grits, cajun butter sauce, roasted sweet corn, scallions and jalapeño. It's nicely textured and very shareable. At my table, everyone wished they ordered this. The Duck Hash (Potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs) sounded better than it was. The big drawback was very dry duck meat. Hard to love this as served, but maybe this was an an off day. The buttermilk pancakes (with strawberries) were good, though nothing exceptional. Gorgeous setting inside the hotel. The lighting and the tables are lovely (though our table for three was too tight for ourselves and our various dishes and drinking vessels.) Walk to other rooms and floors in the hotel to see what else they've done here. It's really nice. So glad there's another solid entry sitting on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Also thrilled that the building has really come alive after years of laying fallow. Looking forward to another visit soon.

We discovered Cafe Robey by accident, while looking for someplace to have dinner before we went to Subterranean for 70s Disco night show. So glad we found this place as we have already been back twice.First of all, I was not even aware that the Coyote Building was a hotel or that there was a restaurant in it. The restaurant has a chilled vibe, cozy and comfy like. It has a very relax feel to it and the decor is light and airy. Getting in was somewhat confusing...you can enter from the street through a revolving door or through the lobby of the hotel. There is window seating across from the bar and a fair number of tables.I must say I was intrigued with the menu concept of breakfast all day. For me there is nothing like having breakfast for dinner...so deliciously decadent. For starters, we got the Sweet Potato Bread (pecan streusel, maple cinnamon butter) and a Cheddar Bacon Jalapeno Scone with Maple butter icing. Both of these were delish and are made in-house. The scone was so good I had another with my main course and took an order of the sweet potato bread home for the next day.For my entree I got the Duck Hash with potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs, served in a skillet. This was a very good dish and I was surprised at the amount of duck meat in it. This was definitely a great dish and one I would most definitely order. The Doctor did order it on our second visit and completely cleaned his skillet. In addition to the hash, I also got a side of the Maple Glazed Pork Belly. That was very good, if you like pork belly....I know it is not everyone's cup of tea because of the fat content. But the glaze was lovely and just the right amount of sweetness to complement the the savory side of the pork belly. For our first visit, The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which he said was very good. The Queen got the omelette because she wanted something light. It had crispy potato, oaxacan cheese, chipotle crema, scallion, and bacon bits. As she also cleaned her plate, I assume it was also good.Second time back I got the Robey's Benedict (two 5 min eggs, fried green tomato, andouille sausage, cajun hollandaise). Definitely a variation on a theme, Nawleans style, with the sausage and hollandaise sauce. The sauce was really good; next time I get this dish, I would asked for extra. The sausage was good, but there wasn't a lot of it. The benny consisted more of the fried green tomatoes and the egg, but it was good nonetheless.Because it was Easter Sunday on our second visit, the restaurant had carrot pancakes with cream cheese frosting and crispy coconut. My BFF and I got an order...he normally doesn't clean his plate, but he did with these. I have to say I am not a fan of carrot cake, but man these pancakes were very good. I ended up taking half of the Robey's Benedict and pancakes home, having them for dinner. For those who don't want to do breakfast, they do have other items like sandwiches and dinner entrees after 5 pm. They also have a nice selection of wines that include a brut and rose sparkling (Yay me!).The staff was very attentive and friendly and we didn't feel rushed in any way. This restaurant has made the list and we will be back.

Sometimes the best finds are accidental. We found Cafe Robey on Yelp during errands in the Wicker Park area. It's located on the first floor of what looks like similar to the flat iron building. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The menu is small, but has the standard breakfast items with a bit of a chef's twist. I ordered the shrimp and grits. This is probably the best shrimp and grits I've had in Chicago. The mascarpone grits are absolutely delicious, and the Cajun butter and jalapeños add so much flavor and a little kick! The dish had 8 pieces of big shrimp! If I'm ever craving shrimp and grits, I'll head over to Cafe Robey. I'll definitely come back to try some of the other things off their menu.

We love this cute little cafe! I am gluten free, so I opted to have my pulled pork on a bed of lettuce. They do have GF Bread available though. It was so tasty! My husband enjoyed his caprese sandwich and salad. Our server Rocky was great. He checked with the kitchen to make sure my meal was GF, and provided good service through the meal. The food was served quickly and the price was pretty reasonable. This was our second visit to this restaurant and I am sure we will be back.

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Café Robey. Our table enjoyed the Duck Hash, Shrimp & Grits, and the Robey's Benedict. The Duck Hash was a lot, and we did take our leftovers with us. It was good, but duck is always tricky. The meat was not dry or greasy... It's just that it's duck meat. But that was my husband's choice! Our son ordered the shrimp and grits. He gave me a taste, and they were fantastic. I very much enjoyed the Robey's Benedict. Waiter and ambiance were wonderful. It's nice to sit in a quiet restaurant while looking at the busy street outside. Also, their music choice was appropriate to the environment, and it was much appreciated!

I've been to Cafe Robey, including their rooftop, a handful of times for brunch/breakfast. It's consistent in all areas - food, service and ambiance. I'm always able to get a reservation in a timely fashion and it's a cozy place. I really like the decor - heavy on mid-century modern, big windows with lots of natural light. It's a great spot to meet up with a friend to catch up on life over a delightful breakfast and a cup of coffee, which is exactly what I did this past Friday. Chilaquiles rojos were a little soggy, still had flavor, and it was large portion. Really wish they would introduce a verdes option to the menu. Banana bread was accompanied with whipped butter. And the sausage could use some more seasoning.

A friend of mine was wanting to try a new spot for brunch and it was her turn to choose a good joint. She had been eyeing Cafe Robey for some time now and said ok lets hit this up on a recent, warm Saturday afternoon. The door situation in this building is always confusing but make sure you follow the signs and you will be ok lol. Nothing special about the interior as its a common looking dining space in a hotel, but it is a nice sized space. Menu look good with a nice amount of options and I decided on the Duck Hash with a fruit bowl on the side. The Duck Hash came in an iron skillet topped with an egg..was very good and filling. I could have shared but maxed the whole thing lol. My friend got the chilaquilas which was very good as well. I would definitely order that upon return or recommend. Oaxacan on a Broken Glass cocktail was delicious and washed down the good food as well as the raspberry bellini. All in all, good place in the Robey Hotel to check out for a nice breakfast/brunch. We had Edith as a server and she was very cool and helpful with menu selection. I definitely plan to return.

Food was delicious. We had the artichoke spread. A mix of goat cheese and artichoke. So soft and easy to spread on the warm pita. The meat loaf was the best I've had. It was easy to eat and flavorful. The chili glazed salmon was on the sweeter side. Would recommend to try the salmon with the herbed yogurt with capers and the marinated? cauliflower (it was vinegary almost) that it comes with to get even more flavor. Salmon itself was tasty and not dry. Our server was attentive and came over as needed. The overall interior is really cute too. A retro vibe but done in a modern way. We want to come back to try their all day brunch menu!
