Café Haslla is a cute savory and sweets café in First Hill. For food items, they serve waffles topped with sweets or with savories. For a cold treat, they serve a variety of bingsu (Korean style shaved snow). And they serve a variety of beverages, both hot and cold. The café is plenty big enough with seats. It is not limited to grab-and-go only. The interior is clean and modern. Several tables were jiggly and needs some adjustments. Otherwise, I thought the interior serves its purpose. We ordered at the counter with a nice young lady, then we pick up our food at the counter also. The Food:Chicken Mozzarella Waffle, $6.95 - 4 StarsWe were pleasantly surprised when they asked if we want chips or salad with that. The salad had an amazingly delicious salad dressing. (I think it's Asian sesame but what brand???) The waffle is a big-snack size or small-lunch size. If you have a smaller appetite, I think this is a great little meal. The chicken was a good size, white meat piece.Red Bean Mania Bingsu, $7.95 - 4 StarsThis is the first place I know that is selling what I consider to be a personal size bingsu, vs. the more common bowl size. Served in a beverage cup, the red bean mania has red bean, soy bean powder, and vanilla ice cream. The texture maintains a snow consistency with just a touch of creaminess from the ice cream. It is packed in a bit denser than other bingsus I have had. A bit fluffier would be good. The sweetness is at East Asian standards, which is very good in my book. It was quite cold eating it in November, but we still enjoyed every bite.

Was excited to try Cafe Haslla as I was given the opportunity to for a Yelp Event. Tasted pretty great! Was my first time trying bingsu and i liked it! Lavender ice cream was subtly sweet, loved the boba topping to top it off, and there wasnt an overwhelming amount of shaved ice. It was a great mix and a great presentation. The husband decided to order the Original Milk Tea for himself and thought it was overwhelmingly sweet and watery. He also decided to order me a Horchata Milk Tea which was very watery but has a strong taste of cinnamon. Service was great, gave us our order at a reasonable amount of time and was not rude whatsoever.Overall, I would like to come back again for bingsu itself. Will opt out of ordering bubble tea on the side.

I came to Cafe Haslla because I was really excited a new bingsu place opened in Seattle. However, the bingsu was so underwhelming and disappointing. We got the mango bingsu and it seemed like it was mainly drizzled with mango syrup. The mangoes didn't really taste fresh, it tasted as if it were in a can or soaking in syrup for a really long time. The bingsu also had condensed milk, making it more sweet. For the actual bingsu shaved ice, I felt like it had the milky flavor. Compared to other bingsu places though, I wish the shaved ice was flavored with mango too. Overall, it was just really sweet and overpriced. It was $8 for this bingsu and my friend and I didn't even want to finish it because of how lackluster it was. Parking is also really difficult, we circled around x3 and ended parking all the way down the hill. They did have plenty of seating inside and service was okay. I would not come back unfortunately.

Got the Choco Oreo Buster bingsu that was recommended by the server which wasn't too sweet but a good balance. Could top it off with some cute decoration on top even if it's for take away. The Guacamole Bacon Egg waffle could come with hot sauce or other condiments as it just needed some more flavor to it. It came with side chips or salad. Will try the salad next time.Great location and place set up for students or someone to come hang out for the afternoon on a rainy Sunday in Seattle. Whether you need to study or read a book and a snack

Honestly, it's alright. Nothing special. Ordered the mango binsu and a Nutella strawberry waffle. I remembered the waffle tasted a bit stale. Mingo binsu was just alright. The service was quick and the staffs were nice tho.

When we got there, it was completely empty so the wait for our food was non-existent. However, this could be a nice study vibe, especially if you live in the same apartment complex they are underneath. We chose to just get 1 item, and decided on a sesame bingsoo. When we got it, we started to get a bit disappointed.First, the spoon/fork situation is pretty unsanitary. The spoons were facing spoon-side out. The forks were handle-side out, so we used that. The bingsoo itself was underwhelming. The snow was essentially just packed shaved ice, and was not very creamy compared to other places. It tasted as if the ingredients were just put one on top of another rather than combined to create a cohesive plate, and was all for presentation. The ice cream was sticky, and that combined with an easy-to-topple cup was really annoying, especially when the cup itself had syrup all over it, and the place did not have hand sanitizer accessible. These are all nitpicks individually, but combined it created a really bad experience. If you're looking for a good bingsoo place, I'd say drive a bit more to go to Kakigori.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty empty; there were several small tables to choose from to sit at, but half the venue is a paid co-working space so I imagine it keeps generally quiet. The menu has several drinks (tea, lemonade, soda), sandwiches, waffles, and shaved ice. Service was fast.I ordered the mango blossom shaved ice, but it was pretty mediocre. It didn't have any extra toppings besides mango bits in puree (previous pictures show the shaved ice used to have icecream and maybe some cookies but not anymore) and the mango bits were clearly frozen (barely thawed). For $8, I would expect more variety. I also wish they served it in a bowl instead of a tall sundae glass because it's harder to get a scoop of both mango and ice together the way it is layered. For shaved ice specifically, there are better places in the area, but here has free wifi and is quiet so it is an overall good place to chat or get busy work done.

It feels bad to criticize something I got for free, but I have to say--if you offered me this bingsoo again for free, I would still politely decline. The syrup was sickly and artificial and the presentation was downright lazy. We were dining in, but I still had to specifically ask for the non-togo cup for my second bingsoo because the first one was just hastily thrown together in a togo cup. They said it was "so it doesn't melt as fast", but really, I think it was out of laziness.Case in point: when the bingsoo was ready, the server only walked halfway to me and made me walk halfway across the room to get it. Either bring it all the way, or call my number so I can come to the counter to get it. Kind of weird to meet halfway? Anyway, probably wouldn't be coming back.
