A nice place to visit for sure. Our waitress was very nice! My friend and I split a burrito and an appetizer. The Surf and Turf burrito was average size and tasted great. I also got a margarita which hit the spot on a warm summer day. I was glad they had AC too inside. I had to take a star away since it is a MAJOR Tourist Trap. A soft spoken employee asked us if we wanted a photo taken for free. So we said sure. Of course, she came back with the free print and bigger pics and some had paper frames. The cost was $20 for one. Then, of course, she wanted to up sale it even more and said you can get another for whatever price. We would've been happy to buy more smaller prints for less like $5/ each.Then, before we left musicians came over and asked if we wanted a performance and luckily they did say right away it was for a tip/$. We had to decline.We are locals and just wanted a nice dinner out before a concert we had planned that night. And it was nice, but bc of the extra interruptions I am not sure if I will want to return anytime soon.

I just want to say, the service and ambiance is outstanding. From the hostess to the buss boy and everyone in between are so welcoming. This is our spot EVERYTIME we come to San Diego. Now, with saying that, the only thing on the menu that has stayed consistent is the flour tortillas. The food is just not up to standard to what it could have been. The chorizo con huevos are dry. No flavor at all. The chorizo is bland. The beans, I seasoned and just lacks flavor. The potatoes, were barely even warm, everything is served like warm, as if it was just sitting there. My kids ate the carne asada fries and loved the fries, but said the meat was like jerky. They were right. Not juicy at all, just old pieces of carne asada. We also had the huevos rancheros. The rancheros sauce was very flavorful, but the eggs were over cooked and again the sides were not even hot.It was very disappointing, but I will say the service was amazing, but we left hungry since we did not eat the food, 90.00 down the drain, except that included the price of a dozen tortillas, amazing horchata, the waitresses tip, which she totally deserved, but the food, was not worth it!

Food : Only thing that is ok is the tortillas .Service: Not bad for how crowded and over rated this place is .Ambiance: Nice , organized and they dont play loud music.. the decoration is cute like a hacienda/ town restaurant. My tamarindo margarita had no flavor .

Disappointing! We tried the Ricardo Especial and the Carnitas plate, but the meats were dry and lacked flavor. The chips and salsa were just average.

Located in old town San Diego, this iconic spot was packed with people on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, this spot was overhyped and did not live up to its name. The staff were friendly and accommodating but someone from my party was hesitate on ordering the horchata and asked for a sample. Our server said if he didn't like it, they won't charge him. He did not like the horchata and was charged anyways. This definitely left a bad taste. The shrimp and steak plate was sadly a very disappointing order. The steak was way overcooked and cutting the steak left what looked like meat dust. The steak texture was leather like and had little to no flavor left. The shrimps were tiny and held little flavor. A very sad meal for what was once an iconic spot. Margarita flight was fantastic and I would recommend if you have a party who wants to try a variety of flavors. Order: Baja style fish tacos, shrimp and steak plate, margarita flightComments: food was okay for the price. The tortillas were fantastic and you can taste the quality. The fish were tiny and overcooked for me

I booked a reservation for my husband and me at 3:30pm on a Saturday. We parked inside a closeby garage and walked about a minute to the front entrance.We were seated immediately in a booth by the bar area. This restaurant is huge as we saw many different seating and loved how beautiful the outside patio seating looked. There's an upstairs too with an additional bathroom area.The food was excellent! My husband loved his birria quesadillas and he let me try, the meat was so tender and juicy. I really liked my rolled tacos which was basically taquitos. The tortilla soup was pretty good with nice big chunks of shredded chicken but I'd skip on it next time. I was hoping to order a dozen of the handmade tortillas with butter, but our waitress said they were short staffed and were not selling them to serve. I was very disappointed since that was the number one thing I was looking forward to. Later on, our waitress surprised me and gave me two handmade tortillas which was so nice of her!I also had the hibiscus margarita and it was a big drink, I could only handle the one.Overall, we had a great time here and enjoyed the carefree and the clay tiled Mexico City aesthetic.

Came for taco tuesday and didn't have to wait to be seated. The service was poor though. We waited a long time for our waiter to give us water and chips and salsa. The chips and salsa are good and complimentary. I got a taco tuesday margarita and it was delicious. We waited a long time for our tacos too because a different table ordered the same and took ours. For my entree, I got the carne asada taco and shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was outstanding and the carne asada was mid.

Very authentic! Food and service were fantastic. Homemade tortillas! How does it get better than that!?

Delicious food and quick service ...was facing problem in parking as cafe parking was full

The food was amazing but the queso and margaritas were INCREDIBLE, highly recommend this place!
