Cafe 79 Vietnamese Kitchen

My absolute favorite pho I've tried in the Seattle area. Spring Rolls were so fresh, and the Pork Egg Rolls were piping hot and my boyfriend absolutely loved them. I will be dreaming of the Pho Special -- the broth, the noodles, the various meats. 10/10 I will come here for pho going forward.

I love Vietnamese food, so it was nice that we found Cafe 79 Vietnamese Kitchen in Kirkland since there aren't very many spots on the Eastside. But we had a nice time here and enjoyed our soups on a rainy day.My partner and I had dinner here on a Friday night and where Cafe 79 Vietnamese Kitchen is located is in a small business strip with very limited parking, especially on a Friday night. We were concerned the entire time that our car would be towed because the only spot that was open was for the beer place next door and there are signs in this lot that specifically say it's reserved for so and so business. For Cafe 79, we only saw a few spots that were reserved for the restaurant that was already taken, which is the case for the other businesses in this strip, so not sure where else people can park when the lot is completely full. Yikes. So other than checking on our car throughout dinner, we had a good time here. The restaurant is not large, with a few tables for dine in, but enough for large groups. For the two of us, we were easily able to find a table. But the place became very busy, so staff had to clear tables as soon as possible to accommodate the new customers coming in. The menu had a great assortment of different dishes, with some appetizers, noodle soups and rice dishes. We started with the nha trang dumplings, and my partner ordered the bo kho while I had the bun bo hue. Food didn't take long to get, with the dumplings coming out first. The dumplings were A-OK. The texture of the dumplings was super sticky and chewy, which may be is how they should be, but it definitely took a minute to chew and consume. The shrimp paste was fine, but I didn't taste much of the mushroom or green bean in it as the menu described. I likely wouldn't get this dish again. However, the bun bo hue was delicious. I love bun bo hue and the broth was fantastic, which is the real reason why you come here. The big bowl of beef broth had hints of spice to it, with tender beef, tendon and a large pork meatball. Noodles were easily slurp-able. The broth was by far, my favorite part. My partner also enjoyed his bo kho, which was like a beef stew with carrots and tender beef and was served with a slightly toasted baguette for dipping. He did prefer my soup over his, but still enjoyed his meal. Overall, this is a good place for some Vietnamese classics with fast service in a casual setting. We even were able to practice some of our basic Vietnamese phrases with the staff. You can tell it's a family-run business that offers food from one of my favorite countries. I dig it.

I tried to take an aesthetic overhead photo of our meal but the spring rolls ended up looking like salad lol. This place was great, the pho was tasty (I do recommend the specialty as you get more variety of meats!) and so was everything else tbh. The vietnamese coffee was a little too sweet for my taste but it had a really strong kick and kept me up pretty late haha

Great food and service!The Beef Special is where it's at... Salmon Fresh Spring Rolls are great too.

Excellent food! My new favorite place to get Pho! I used to go to Kirkland Pho house but they changed their recipes and Cafe 79 is sooooo much better!

Pho at Cafe 79 is 5 stars. The sweet and savory broth is one of the best on the west coast. The pork chop dish is 3 stars. It looks nothing like the photo and was just average. Service is friendly, though they serve entrees with 5 minutes in between. It should be together.Parking is OK. Plenty in the evenings in the strip mall.

They're a cozy little restaurant in an unassuming part of town but their food speaks for itself! I love having the options of having all my favourite Vietnamese dishes in one place. Overall one of my favorite places to go for a comforting and fortifying meal!

I never do reviews for anything but this place deserves one, their pho is so good and so flavorful literally not like any other. The beef vermicelli was soooo good I've never had that dish before and I was not disappointed. I got take out but the staff was so kind in the restaurant while waiting and they always are. As well as the restaurant itself it's so cute and looks like the owners care. 100/10 :))

When we first walked in, it looked a little small. We wanted to eat in, but all the tables were filled. It's usually a good sign that the food is good, but the question is whether we have time to stay. Luckily a table was leaving and we were able to be seated fairly quickly. We ordered the crunchy spring rolls, pork rolls, Pork Bahn Mi, Nha Trang Bahn Mi, and the Pho Special. The crunchy spring rolls were fried perfectly and was so good! I really enjoyed it. The pork rolls were also very good and the peanut sauce was yummy. I love peanut sauce so I can be a little picky about that, but it definitely was very good. My son enjoyed his Pork Bahn Mi, and I tried my husband's pho special. It was really good. The broth was nice and I thought the flavor was really good. I had the Nha Trang Bahn Mi and it was so good. It was just the perfect melding of flavors and I really enjoyed it. I would say that this is definitely one place we will be coming back to. I really enjoyed it. I recommend it to you too!

The service was very quick and attentive - however the food took a LONG time to come out (especially compared to other Vietnamese places). The milk tea we ordered arrived when we were almost done with the meal.However, the food was GREAT. Especially the Bo Ne Nha Trang, which came out sizzling. The spring rolls and pho were good as well. The shop is quite small but super bright and clean!
