Byrd's Hot Chicken

Wanted a hot chicken sandwich and this place came up so we decided to try it out. The eating area was clean but pretty empty and there was one woman working hard to take orders and make the food. The wait was pretty long but again it was one woman working at the time. After we got our food, she had gone around to the three parties eating and apologized for the wait and offered extra fries. The food was delicious, a little pricy, but overall we liked it. Since there was only three parties at the time I went, it wasn't crazy loud. The music choice was nice, too.

Greetings my Foodzies , the other day I went to Skokie for my obligatory emissions test and we found this restaurant on the upside app. Byrds hot chicken at 3849 Oakton St. Skokie.A decent size place with wooden tables and banquet style chairs. Counter service with retro music playing throughout the restaurant. We both ordered the chicken sandwich combo Glenda had the mild and I opted for the Hot. The combo came with fries and potato salad, no drink, that was separate. The sandwich was made fresh and good size, it was moist and the breading was crunchy with a good flavor. The hot sandwich was spicy but not what I consider hot. The sandwich had the usual; coleslaw & pickle slices along with what they call a 24K sauce. The sauce was nice but nothing for the sandwich. The potato salad was a little vinegary which was a bit of a turn off. All in all not bad. I give this restaurant 4 stars. Try it out and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now .

Worst wait ever - forty minutes for a gyro! It's already cooked! ! No air conditioning- piss all over the bathroom. Pepsi products to make it a perfect disaster - inshallah they get better

This place is good. We ordered the mild chicken sandwich combo and the hot chicken tenders combo. Portions were huge. Potato salad was very good and so were the fries. Chicken was tender and crunchy. The 24k sauce had a nice kick to it but was on the sweet side. It is on the pricier side but 2 people could easily split their combos and it's good quality.

Was in the mood for hot spiced chicken.Chicken was spicy and kinda hurt my stomach afterwards. I'm not sure if it was the fried oil or the batter that didn't sit well. I just got the medium level which was a good spice level. The fries were okay and the potato salad was a good balance for the spice. The interior felt not as clean as I thought it could be.

So fried chicken is the main item. Actually only have 3 main items. Menu is straightforward as can be. Ordered their #1 number chicken sandwhich with two side. Got to admit that sandwhich was huge. I know it cost a bit more then I would like, but the portion size broke my doubt. The chicken isn't cut to be flat so it is not cut even on the bun. You get a large lope sided chicken tender(according to the menu, but tenders are not that large. Think it is a cutted breast). The batter was pretty crispy. Took it home in a sealed container and it maintained it's crunch being covered in coleslaw. Can only imagine eating it fresh. Topped with a generous potion of coleslaw. Fries were good, the potato salad was really good. Can't remember a restaurant that served it but this place is worth trying. Really make you wonder why there isn't more good potato salad.Overall a lot more satisfying than I thought

Tried this place for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken sandwich was really good. I got it with the fried green beans which were also delicious. The potato salad was a nice side but the best part was the honey bites. Customer service was great.

Only got them for delivery but would love to stop by and check out their restaurant. I got the single sandwich (medium heat), a single tender (hot heat level) with a side of potato salad and fries. The chicken sandwich had a great flavor and nice heat level, I did not find it to be too hot. The single tender with the hot heat level was good as well, wasn't too spicy for me but I'm too scared to try the supa hot. The potato salad and fries were good too and the order came very quickly.

Good food, nice workers, clean. There was very quick service, considering there was a group of about 20 of us, and the food was good!
